Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster - Chapter 464: Fiery Birb

Chapter 464: Fiery Birb
Rael rolled his eyes and turned toward the others.
No one seemed against it, and while they didn’t voice their thoughts out loud like Evelyn and Vatyra, he was sure the prizes were going to be something good.
He wouldn’t normally take such a risk, but sometimes, not being reckless would do nothing but stop him from growing stronger.
They’re going to limit themselves to my power. Shit, it’s obvious they’re going to be much stronger still, but it won’t be by an extremely overwhelming amount.
Plus, he had six of the strongest individuals he had seen in his life in front of him. How could he not be reckless and opportunistic?
[Honestly… I would probably do the same. Except, I would be more prepared,] Burger commented. [I don’t think you can beat that Minos kid, or Chronos. They would absolutely annihilate you. Evelyn would easily beat you as well, and the others? Yeah… I’m not sure how to put it, but you might be just a little fucked here.]
Rael ignored Burger’s words and glanced over the Supreme Monsters again. He wasn’t sure which one he wanted to fight, so he decided to simply go at random.
Or that was the plan initially, when all of a sudden, Vatyra stepped up.
“I hate indecisive men. Since you can’t make a decision, I’ll make it for you,” she said, turning to Kareth. “Will that be a problem?”
Kareth coughed. “So long as he agrees, it’s fine.”
With that, Rael stared at her for a few moments before letting out a sigh.
“Alright. I guess I’ll fight you first.”
Grinning, Vatyra entered a fighting stance, but just then, Kareth coughed again.
“He has ten seconds to land a solid hit on you… It must be physical hit, one that’s visible to all of us. And Vatyra, you’re not excluded from the earlier handicap. Neither is anyone else.”
“Oh? Tsk…” Vatyra clicked her tongue and got into a defensive stance.
However…
“I’m down to get rid of that rule if you throw in something better after I win,” Rael said with a slight grin.
Vatyra halted, her expression turning cold.
She extended one arm, and in an instant, it transformed into a red, feathery wing.
“Phoenixes are immortal creatures. We undergo rebirth over and over again… But I’m not like them.”
Pulling out a single feather, she held it up to Rael.
“I’m a phoenix who can’t rebirth, but I can give the gift of a single rebirth to another. If you win, that gift is yours,” she added.
“…”
Is she serious? I get that it’s one time, but this would make it so I have three ways to come back from the dead.
He felt a bit of pity for Vatyra, since it seemed like ever since she arrived, she had been masking her true feelings behind misdirected anger.
A husband who had been killed by her friend, and now, the main characteristic of her race that she couldn’t even utilize.
But in the end, Rael had already made his decision. If he was going to half-ass it now, then he might as well pack his bags and fuck off back to the Dralgur Continent to deal with politics.
So, with that in mind, Rael nodded.
“I agree. We can start whenever.”
“Hmm…” Kareth glanced between the two, then raised his hand.
“The moment my hand falls is the moment the fight begins. You’re not limited to what kind of skills you can use. The goal for Rael is to land a hit. For Vatyra, you must kill him before he can hit you.”
“Yeah yeah, just start already,” Vatyra said, cracking her neck.
Kareth waited exactly three seconds, and with a slightly worried look, he brought his hand down.
Immediately, Vatyra vanished from Rael’s sight, but because of Foresight, he was able to just barely keep track of her.
Or rather, that was how it seemed at first. However, with every adjustment he made to his posture, he couldn’t escape the inevitable hit that was coming from all sides.
So instead of trying to dodge it or avoid it, Rael took a step forward. Immediately, the vision changed to one of a direct strike, which, of course, Rael brutally lost.
Yet he went through with it anyway, and as expected, Vatyra reappeared and struck her fist against his own, sending an extremely powerful shockwave through his entire arm.
All the bones in his arm shattered, but not only that, she somehow managed to ignite his blood vessels, which in turn slightly scrambled his healing and deformed his arm.
The pain was excruciating. But like always, it didn’t near the pain he felt when a planet exploded on top of him.
With renewed resolve, he slashed his arm off at the shoulder. Then, by pumping his heart several thousand times per second, he regrew it instantly.
Vatyra’s brows furrowed in annoyance. She was used to fighting dragons, and being reminded of that revolting regeneration only angered her further.
They continued to clash, with neither of them showcasing any skills, only pure combat techniques. But clearly, the longer this went on, the more Rael was at a disadvantage.
Every time he swung, she countered with a hit that nearly killed him. If he were to try using Foresight, then she would somehow manage to scramble it so that he couldn’t predict her.
Even when she was clearly toying with him, Rael couldn’t do much. But alas, he was only using his fists.
He had many more abilities, skills, racial perks… everything he had yet to use.
And because of that, Rael clashed against Vatyra one final time.
Using the power of her punch, he propelled himself backward. Then, a straight horn emerged from of his forehead.
In an instant, frost scattered around, covering the ground in ice as it neared Vatyra.
At the same time, Vatyra took a step forward, causing the ground to heat up and stop his ice from approaching her.
But despite that, the frost effect was only a gimmick.
In reality, the power he had just used was none other than Fear.
<Ding!>
