Chapter 518: Borrowing Some Skills, And Darkness?
Step
Step
Halting, Rael leaned against the wall, his unsheathed sword lazily resting in his hand as he stared at the black-haired man opposite him, guarding a giant door that led directly to the portal room.
Silence hung in the air for a few short moments until Rael finally broke it with a sly remark:
“So, how does it feel being a fake?”
Alcetas raised a brow. “A fake?”
Rael sighed. “My bad, I should’ve started with an experiment. Doesn’t make it any less fake though… But I assume you don’t know anything, do you?”
“All I know is that you’re intruding in the Silver Palace again,” Alcetas replied coldly, yet his gaze flickered slightly, as if Rael’s words stirred something within him. “This is our second time meeting, I believe.”
“Second time here. We’ve met plenty of times on other occasions,” Rael corrected. “Though that’s enough about me, isn’t it? It’s not like who I am matters, when you are the interesting one.”
His smile widened. “I usually like giving bombshells in small doses, but I’m kind of in a hurry.”
After a brief pause, Rael spoke again.
“Your friend, Milan Ansar, is alive, and he’s maintaining your actual body. Solenne used the DNA from your body to create replicas of you, and… well, here you are. As for your real body, it’s rotting in the cathedral where all those experiments were conducted on you.”
“Ah, there’s another interesting bit…” Rael held back a laugh. I wonder how he would feel if I told him his best friend slept with the person who experimented on him? Nah, I’m not that sadistic.
Anyhow, with the small bombshell dropped, he waited for Alcetas’s reaction, which was a little melodramatic.
“Nothing you said makes sense, but I applaud your creativity.” Alcetas stepped forward, his gaze sharpening as Rael felt a prickle in his mind.
Clearly, he was about to invade, and Rael was completely ready to counter. After all, his skill was most definitely superior, and if anything, the moment Alcetas used his skill, Rael would steal it with Premium Override.
“I hope you know, this isn’t the first time we’ve had this conversation… But by your lack of awareness, I’m sure Solenne made sure to wipe your memories clean again.” Rael clicked his tongue and got ready to fight.
And as expected, Alcetas tried to invade his mind; however…
[Blocked him,] Gaia announced. [Burger and Vatyra are chiming in as well. Do whatever you want to do.]
Rael smiled, and without an ounce of hesitation, he switched bodies, or rather, he went directly into Alcetas’s mind.
However, instead of the endless crimson hallways he had seen the last time he had entered this place, it was currently completely empty, with only the shallow water below and a starless sky above.
When he focused on the stars, he realized that they weren’t stars at all, but cracks, spreading ever so slightly with every passing moment.
“How bold of you to come here by yourself…” Alcetas muttered from the side, and when Rael turned toward him, he was met with a rather surprising sight.
One side of Alcetas was all skin and bones, while the other was just as he had seen him a moment ago.
“No offense, man, but you look like shit.” Rael scowled. “Oh, and don’t get it wrong. I have many ways of getting out of here unscathed. But, since you seem weakened, let me give you a choice.”
Rael extended both of his hands, then began.
“Break free from Solenne’s influence, and seek me out. I will reunite you with Milan, and you will get your real body back, as well as all the memories you’ve had buried. You would become my ally, and you would eventually help me fight against Solenne… If you do choose this path, then I will help you break free from Solenne’s influence.”
Lowering one arm, the other one stayed up.
“But if you don’t, then I’m afraid I’ll have to do this another way. I’m pretty sure you can imagine what I’m talking about.”
Despite Rael’s clear warning, Alcetas didn’t seem to care. He didn’t even budge, and instead summoned a volley of swords above him.
<Alcetas Audegar’s Mental Integrity: 11,252% → 11,102%>
Hmm…? Rael froze. Pardon? 11,252%? He’s got nearly three times as much as I do. I best leave this place as soon as I can, because no way am I winning against him.
With those thoughts in mind, a serious expression appeared on Rael’s face.
Before he could even begin to counter the volley of swords, they dropped down.
However, instead of approaching him, the swords landed beside Alcetas over and over again. Eventually, one of the swords pierced him.
The side that was pierced was the one that seemed healthy, and only then did Rael realize what this could be.
Is it because I mentioned his true body? Is it possible that he’s fighting against his true body right now?
[Yes…] Gaia spoke. [I sense a fight going on beyond the Mind Realm. You should take this time for granted and leave. No one knows how long that fight will last, so you only have mere seconds on the outside.]
Hearing that, Rael carefully stepped back, and then closed his eyes, willing his mind out of Alcetas’s Mind Realm.
But not before snagging a little trophy.
<Would you like to cancel the opponent’s skill? Cost: 99 Premium Coins>
<Would you like to steal the opponent’s skill [Halls of Crimson (Celestial)]? Cost: 1,000 Premium Coins.>
Isn’t that…?
[A Mind Realm domain by the looks of it,] Vatyra remarked.
Gaia sighed. [You already have one, but yours is underdeveloped.]
After a brief pause, she spoke again.
[I have a selfish request, but if possible, could you steal that skill?]
I don’t mind, but what’s it for, exactly? You said I already had one.
[Just a little something I’ve been meaning to make. I wasn’t able to until now because I had been lacking in power, but this skill would supplement what I need,] Gaia replied.
Rael smiled. I take it you’re not going to tell me what it is?
Gaia let out a giggle. [It’s a surprise. A-An expensive surprise.]
Taking a deep breath, Rael went ahead and stole the skill. After all, if it was in the hands of Gaia, what could go wrong?
<Ding!>
<Entity: Alcetas Audagar’s Skill has been stolen!>
<Skill: Halls of Crimson (Celestial) has been acquired!>
<Ding!>
<Gaia is requesting access to the skill: Halls of Crimson (Celestial). Would you like to grant her permission to utilize it? Yes / No>
There was a big dent in his pocket now, but despite that, he pressed “Yes,” and to his surprise, the skill vanished from his skill list.
[Thank you. I’ll be sure to make something nice for you whenever you arrive,] Gaia said softly.
Rael nodded slowly, and in the next moment, he reappeared in the body he had possessed previously.
Alcetas stood frozen in front of him, and for insurance’s sake, Rael went ahead and performed the ancient kick in the balls, causing a loud crack to resound.
And yet, despite having his balls crushed, Alcetas didn’t show a reaction.
Rael puffed his chest, and then kicked the door in, revealing the portal room. All the portals were lit, ready for soldiers to cross through.
Since he did only have a few seconds, Rael went with the safe option.
•—Premium Shop—•
Category: Bomb / Big Bomb/ Massive Bomb/ Extremely Big Bomb/ Magical Nuclear Warhead / Compact Area / Controlled /
•—Balance: 5,188 Premium Coins—•
• #0001 (Transcendent): 50 Premium Coins
• Pest Exterminator (Transcendent): 100 Premium Coins
<Expand for more>
Rael swiftly skimmed through both of the nukes, and despite the price of the Pest Exterminator, the #0001 bomb was much better, so he bought it right away.
—#0001 (Transcendent)
Durability: 1/1
Description: A suitable alternative for the #0000 bomb. Extremely effective in destruction and world corruption. Destabilizes all spatial fields/portals and reroutes their coordinates if destruction is impossible.
Darkness Damage: 500 Billion ~ 15 Trillion
Range – 500 Meters.
Special Option: Remote detonation. Upon detonation, trigger the skill: Ring of Destruction (Transcendent), amplifying the damage several-fold.
Special Option 2: Upon detonation, spread the [Darkness] World Effect.
Darkness…?
<World Effect: Darkness>
<An endless corruption that spreads from the origin, twisting land, suppressing light, and empowering monsters until purified.>
<Note: If Darkness occurs in a Light-Controlled area, the effects of the World Effect: Darkness increases by 2x.>
“…”
Perfect.
Its explosion range wasn’t too massive either, so it would ensure that only the portal room and a little bit of the Silver Palace exploded. After all, while he did want to destroy Solenne and her army, there were one too many civilians to unleash a full-scale nuke here.
So instead, a black grenade appeared in his hands, making it hard to believe that this was an actual nuke.
But despite that, he went up to one of the portals and placed the black grenade behind it.
And now that the preparations were complete, there was only one thing he left to do…
Kill Jashin Artemios, the Fifth Seat.
