Chapter 769: Chapter 769: The Appearance of a Regular Customer in the Shop
Today, Su Jin was going to the Heart Talk Branch to restock the small storage room behind the store. Since Guo Yang was out killing zombies with everyone, the storage bag was left with Lin Cheng and Huang Yunxiang to use at the Heart Talk Store, given that there was no small storage room there.
The Heart Talk Branch next to the Security team did have a small storage room, but supplies had been running low in the past few days, especially after Mr. Kou arrived and nearly bought up all the meat.
Su Jin had declined Sheng Jing’s offer to accompany her, planning to go to the Heart Talk Branch by herself. She wasn’t so frail that she needed someone with her wherever she went, as she still exercised regularly in the Space every day.
In fact, the people at the base gave Su Jin all sorts of friendly looks when they saw her on the road. Recently, other than Su Jin, there were a few more pregnant Special Ability Users at the base.
Therefore, rumors said that the S City base had benefited from Su Jin’s good fortune, otherwise why would new life start to appear only after she became pregnant?
Su Jin knew about these rumors too, and she was also happy that the base finally had other pregnant mothers like her. But what was with everyone looking at her as if she were a mascot on the road?
When she arrived at the branch, Mao Zhihang and Lin Tianzhen were still busy. They saw Su Jin but she told them not to mind her, as she could just get the supplies from the small storage room at the back herself.
There were now four freezers in the small storage room. The meat and ready-to-eat products that had filled them before were all sold out, so Su Jin began to stock them with supplies she had prepared in the Space.
After placing these items, she also filled the empty shelves around the room. Each category on every shelf was labeled by Mao Zhihang for convenience of daily access. Aside from the shelves, the area in the center of the small storage room, where rice and flour were usually kept, was nearly empty too. Su Jin waved her hand and filled that space with grains in no time.
After fully stocking the small storage room, Su Jin collected the empty boxes and sold-out grain bags in the corner into her Space. They recycled these items and didn’t dispose of them after just one use.
The room connected to the small storage room was the shop’s break room, which had several microwaves and water dispensers with constant temperature control. This was also where Xiao Jin’s aunt and uncle usually had their meals. Only then did Su Jin notice that there were also two refrigerated display cabinets in the corner, which she had almost forgotten about.
The food inside the refrigerated display cabinets wouldn’t freeze or frost over. Every morning, Mao Zhihang would move the frozen items there for the convenience of customers who planned to eat what they bought right away. Of course, they also offered a free microwave heating service.
Su Jin opened the refrigerator cabinet, which still had some meat and pancakes left, but not much. So she began taking out bags of well-packaged meat from her Space and placing them into the refrigerator.
Squeak~
The door to the break room that led to the outside corridor opened. Su Jin thought it was either Xiao Jin’s aunt or uncle since she had locked the door when she came in.
However, she still turned her head subconsciously and then saw a young man holding a porcelain basin staring at her.
“Who are you?”
Su Jin looked at the young man warily. How did he get in? Could he be a thief?
“No, no, no, I’m not a thief. I came to use the microwave, you see,”
Mr. Kou hurriedly raised the white porcelain basin in his hands, which was filled with meat.
She remembered that basin; it belonged to the Heart Talk Branch, but…
“Did you open the door yourself?”
There was clear suspicion in Su Jin’s eyes, and how could Xiao Jin’s aunt and uncle let a stranger in here?
“Mr. Kou? How did you…”
Lin Tianzhen, hearing the noise, came over and found Mr. Kou confronting Su Jin inside and was at a loss for what had happened.
“I’m a Metal Element Ability User, you know. I thought that hot meat tastes better. Doesn’t your back door connect to where I live? So I just came in,”
Mr. Kou explained, as if it were only natural and to show that he had nothing to hide.
So this guy used his Special Ability to open the back door of Heart Talk Branch and came in?
Hearing Lin Tianzhen’s title, Su Jin immediately realized who this young man was, but she remembered that all the locks of the Heart Talk Branch were reinforced by Rong Yuan using his Metal Element Ability. Could it be because his level was high?
“You can come to the front and let us heat it up for you,”
Lin Tianzhen had not expected that Kou Ning would actually enter through the back door so boldly. If he started a conflict with Xiao Jin, what then?
“Your shop is too busy, I would have to wait in line, it’s troublesome,”
Kou Ning said as he put the porcelain bowl into the microwave and deftly pressed a few buttons. His actions made Su Jin wonder if this wasn’t his first time here.
Lin Tianzhen had more to say, but Su Jin stopped him.
“It’s not that much trouble, I’ll give you a microwave oven,”
Su Jin said.
It wasn’t that she was generous, but if a fight broke out over a microwave oven with Kou Ning, it would be a loss definitely not worth the gain.
“Are you afraid I might steal something from your shop?”
Kou Ning turned around and asked, his tone somewhat unfriendly.
“That’s not it, we just want to have long-term customers like you. For other larger clients, we usually give away food, but I think a microwave is more fitting for your needs,”
Su Jin replied with a smile. The previous day, Kou Ning had bought a whole 100,000 Crystal Cores worth of braised meat, which was something never seen before at the Heart Talk Store—no one had ever bought so much meat at once.
“Are you a Space Element Ability User?”
Kou Ning asked, as he had just seen Su Jin fill the refrigerator with a wave of her hand.
“Hello, I am Su Jin from the Heart Talk Team, a Dual-Element Ability User with Wood and Space Elements,”
Su Jin simply didn’t hide anymore, as there were already quite a few people who knew she was a Dual-Element Ability User. Moreover, it was already the second year of the Apocalypse, and Dual-Element Ability Users were no longer a marvel to anyone.
Sure enough, Kou Ning showed no particular surprise after hearing this, but then asked, “So is the meat you sell in the shop all made by yourselves?”
“Yes, it is,”
Su Jin nodded and, with a motion of her hand, took out a new microwave and placed it on the table, indicating that Kou Ning could take it as he pleased.
Kou Ning smiled.
At that moment, the sound of the microwave finishing its heating cycle chimed.
He didn’t mind the heat, picking up the porcelain bowl with his hands and placing it on the table in the middle of the resting room. He grabbed a piece of meat, biting into it generously as he spoke:
“I quite like it here. If you find it inconvenient, I can stay outside next time,”
Su Jin didn’t quite understand why Kou Ning insisted on staying inside the shop, could it be… just because he was bored and idle?
However, ultimately both parties compromised. The area outside the Heart Talk Branch was already meant for customers to rest and eat, so they couldn’t really dispute Kou Ning’s request.
“Xiao Jin, let him stay there if he wants to; he can’t be here every day anyway, otherwise, who could afford to feed him with such an appetite?”
Lin Tianzhen didn’t see it as a big problem; once Kou Ning finished the batch of food he had bought, he would have to go out and earn more Crystal Cores.
