Chapter 803: Chapter 803: Helping Each Other
Han Yue and his group indeed had not waited at the entrance for two hours as the base had demanded; needless to say, most of the staff at the gate were from the Han Family, and with the scowling faces of these hundred-plus people, the other few staff members didn’t dare say anything further.
“We have injured people and need immediate treatment,”
Han Yue’s tone was unequivocal, his expression dark and forbidding—clearly, he was not in a good mood.
They had followed Han Jiajia along the route she had described, pushing forward continuously, even entering the zombie-infested C city. However, by the time dusk approached, and despite their extensive search, they had not found a single trace of anyone, and had instead suffered some losses.
It was possible that the Heart Talk Team had perceived something upon arriving in C city, which led them to kill Wu Zijian and his group. But they also hadn’t encountered the returning Heart Talk Team on the way, all of which gave him the feeling that he had been played for a fool.
He had also confirmed the account multiple times with Han Jiajia and a few others; their answers were no different from Han Jiajia’s, indicating that they had indeed encountered the Heart Talk Team.
But where exactly had the Heart Talk Team hidden themselves now?
After Han Yue and his group entered the base, they were met by Han Jin and a few others who had been waiting at the entrance.
“How did the interview process go?”
asked Han Yue.
“It’s strange; all the people we know of passed, and they’re still handing out Trading Cards on the spot,”
replied Han Jin. He had rushed over immediately upon hearing of Han Yue’s return, without even stopping by the Han Family Courtyard.
“Don’t tell father just yet; I’m worried he’ll get angry again,”
sighed Han Yue. Today they purposely kept Han Zhimin in the treatment room in case he learned something and needed immediate healing.
“Got it, I haven’t had the chance to go back yet. I was hoping you all had captured the Heart Talk Team,”
said Han Jin, glancing at Han Jiajia, who followed behind and did not dare to make a sound. One look at everyone’s expressions, and he knew they again hadn’t captured the Heart Talk Team.
The noise and lights from the direction of the interview site were still ongoing. Han Yue and the others glanced over and were then ready to enter the Han Family Courtyard. However, the moment Han Yue stepped through the entrance, he sensed that something was off.
“Han Jin, head over to the Surveillance Room; Wang Liang, take a few people and come with me to the treatment room!”
Han Yue spoke with urgency, and those around him sensed something was amiss. Had something happened?
Without daring to argue further, Han Jin, along with Yang Bo and others, broke into a run towards the Surveillance Room at the research institute.
On the way, Han Yue felt increasingly that something was wrong, and a thought was screaming to be acknowledged in his mind. Thus, his pace quickened considerably.
The aspect that struck him as most unusual was Han Zhimin’s treatment room. It should have been bustling with people, yet now there was only one person inside.
A faint smell of blood wafted through the air, and Wang Liang quickly opened the treatment room door. What met their eyes was Han Zhimin lying on the floor, a pool of fresh blood beneath him, his state of life or death unclear.
Wang Liang was also stunned. Was Han Zhimin murdered? This didn’t seem to be a part of Lu Hao’s plan…
“What are you standing there for? Father’s not dead yet. Go and bring healers! And bring several!”
scolded Han Yue. Who on earth did this?
“Young Master Han! I’m on it right now!”
Wang Liang immediately snapped to action and ran out the door, simultaneously marveling in his mind—could this be the Heart Talk Team’s delaying tactic? But it didn’t seem like their style at all. Knocking Han Zhimin unconscious with a warm kettle?
In an alley near the Han Family Courtyard, Huang Yunxiang had already successfully picked up Lu Hao and his group who had just emerged from the secret passage. It was only then that Lin Xiuyuan felt relieved. He had just learned of Han Yue’s return, which had nearly scared him to death!
And Lu Hao still had the leisure to take out his camera and record some videos and photos of the Han Family Underground Research Institute. He was nearly frantic with urgency!
“The front gate has been taken care of, though it looks like Local Tyrant Gold might have a tough time,”
spoke Huang Yunxiang while driving.
“Chirp, chirp, chirp,”
Local Tyrant Gold called out after hearing its name; it wasn’t tired at all. As long as it could get back to its grandparents in the Space sooner, it wasn’t afraid of any fatigue!
At the entrance of Base City B, Zheng Shu, Bai Ying, and their group also drove back from outside. When they arrived at the registration area, Zheng Shu and his companions began chatting with the staff there.
“Old Zhang, do you know how lucky we were today? We actually found a supermarket that hadn’t been completely looted!”
Zheng Shu said, feigning excitement.
“Really? There are still supermarkets that haven’t been completely looted? Where did you find it?”
The conversation with Old Zhang quickly drew the attention of others. Everyone knew that Zheng Shu and his group were with the Wei Family, so they naturally didn’t have to fight for job interviews and Trading Cards—that’s why they had returned so late.
“Please, what’s there to be lucky about? It’s just a bunch of stuff that’s about to expire,”
Bai Ying scoffed.
“Yeah, Zheng Shu, we found lots of things that are about to expire. Why not share some with Old Zhang and the others? They’re not much use to us anyway,”
Zhu Chang chimed in from the side.
Zheng Shu hesitated for a moment, looking as if he had made a resolution, then took out a case of canned beer and some beverages from the Space.
“Alright then! We’re all from the same base, and everyone has been working hard in this hot weather. Let these beers be distributed by Old Zhang to cool everyone down!”
After Zheng Shu spoke, he smiled as he watched Old Zhang and a crowd of people who eagerly looked at the case of beer and beverages.
Beer, when was the last time they tasted beer?
In the sweltering heat of summer, even the nights were devoid of a hint of wind. Zheng Shu and his party could clearly hear the gulping sounds of people swallowing saliva.
“Don’t worry, Old Zhang, we’ll just wait over there for a couple of hours,”
Zhu Chang said with a smile.
“Cool! Let’s quench the boys’ thirst today, much appreciated!”
Old Zhang and his people thought this was a bribe from Zheng Shu’s group, who didn’t want to wait for two hours. But seeing Bai Ying and the few remaining Special Ability Users obediently heading towards the waiting area, they immediately beamed with joy.
True to a team under the Wei Family, they were indeed generous.
The men shared knowing smiles, while their eyes also glanced towards the direction of the gate.
Although they couldn’t see anything, the person who had walked up to them and gently patted their shoulder was undoubtedly a member of the Heart Talk Team.
Local Tyrant Gold had made three trips back and forth already, and this was the final one. Lu Hao, carrying the unconscious Lian Jiyue, both relied on Local Tyrant Gold’s Special Ability to render their figures invisible, walking towards the car parked in the distance in the night.
“Thank you, it’s done now,”
Lu Hao’s voice gently rose next to Zheng Shu and Zhu Chang while several employees who were busy divvying up beer and beverages remained oblivious.
Zheng Shu nodded slightly, then bid farewell to Old Zhang and went to the waiting area nearby.
“Is it done?”
Bai Ying asked, somewhat nervously. To tell the truth, she was really worried something might go wrong.
“Mhm, he said it’s done,”
Zheng Shu replied with a smile, feeling a sense of accomplishment in being able to help a good friend who had once saved their lives.
