Chapter 933: Chapter 933: Beneath the Ice Layer
“It seems there’s really something wrong here.”
Lu Hao crouched down, looking at the somewhat dark ground. But aside from the rock layers and the deep red screen of the detector, they hadn’t discovered anything else.
“Let’s try walking a bit further.”
Su Jin took photos and videos of the area, planning to walk a bit further to see what they might find.
Lu Hao nodded, holding Su Jin’s hand as they walked forward. They were at the highest peak of Mount M, and even though the view was breathtaking, they had no interest in admiring it, as they didn’t want to miss checking any corner of this place.
“There.”
Lu Hao pointed to a spot on the rock face above.
The snow around had already melted, except for that spot which was still covered with thick snow. It wasn’t very large, but unless someone climbed up, it couldn’t be discovered from below.
“Let’s go check it out.”
Su Jin had a hunch that something must be hidden there.
So she began to grow vine plants, allowing the plants to lift them toward the steep rock wall.
During the climb, the detector kept displaying deep red, even in the air. If neither of them had any adverse reactions, Su Jin would’ve thought to put on protective masks.
The vine plants quickly brought them near the rock wall, and strangely, the numbers on the detector began to fall, changing colors to orange, yellow…
Until they stepped off the vine plants and onto a narrow and short stone platform, the two detectors in their hands turned green!
No zombie virus here?!
They both saw the shock in each other’s eyes.
But why is this the case?
“I knew I should’ve brought Lin Xiuyuan.”
They stood on the stone platform. Ahead, there was just ice and nothing else could be seen. If Lin Xiuyuan were here with his ice-element special abilities, maybe he could clear it away.
“Let me try.”
Lu Hao formed a fireball cautiously, trying to melt the ice wall. He was careful not to use too much power on the ice layer, fearing that something might be hidden inside and get damaged.
The fireball clung closely to the ice layer, but it didn’t react at all.
“Won’t melt?”
Lu Hao frowned. This was the first time since the apocalypse he encountered such a strange phenomenon.
Su Jin was also somewhat shocked. She thought there was nothing in the world that Lu Hao’s special ability fire couldn’t melt.
Lu Hao gathered some more special ability power, and the small fireball in his hand faintly glimmered with black. Only then did the ice layer begin to slowly form small droplets of water.
Although the effect was negligible, it was at least somewhat useful. It seemed that this ice layer wasn’t ordinary at all.
“I’ll go see if Lin Xiuyuan is around.”
Su Jin intended to go into the space to pull Lin Xiuyuan out to help. The family didn’t venture out today.
Nie Qing and Lin Xiuyuan were in the space eating snacks and watching shows. Hearing what Su Jin said, Lin Xiuyuan didn’t hesitate to prepare to leave with her.
“Girl, I want to see too.”
Nie Qing was also curious about the interesting ice layer Su Jin mentioned. He was always curious about things he hadn’t seen before.
“Alright, Dad, if anyone asks, help cover for us.”
Su Jin told Su Xiangzhe.
“Don’t worry, go ahead, just be careful,”
Su Xiangzhe, though curious himself, knew the family needed to cover for one another, so he restrained his curiosity.
The platform was somewhat small, and Su Jin carefully brought the two out.
“Brother-in-law, let me try.”
Lin Xiuyuan didn’t see anything unusual about the ice layer, so he began to use his ice-element special abilities.
Even when sweat gathered on Lin Xiuyuan’s forehead, the ice layer remained unmoved.
“Lin lad, stop wasting your energy. This probably isn’t ice.”
Nie Qing observed closely and said.
In ancient books, he had once read about a kind of divine stone. It looked like ice and felt cold to the touch but was not ice.
“Could Uncle try it?”
Su Jin pondered, touching her chin.
Unfortunately, even when Lin Cheng was brought out, the ice layer remained unmoved.
“Mine doesn’t work either,”
Lin Cheng said, feeling embarrassed.
“Let me have another go…”
Lu Hao laughed. It seemed that only his special ability fire had any effect.
Su Jin had no choice but to wait patiently with the others.
“It’s a pity. If we could take this divine stone away, it would be great,”
Nie Qing thought that this ice-layer-like item was surely a rare thousand-year treasure. It had gone unnoticed due to the surrounding ice and snow, and now that they had melted away, it was revealed.
Lu Hao spent most of his special abilities, melting just a palm-sized thickness of the ice layer. Just as Su Jin wanted to replenish his abilities, the stone platform they stood on suddenly began to shake violently.
Rumble~
The stones underfoot suddenly cracked, revealing a pitch-black hole beneath the platform. The five of them were about to fall in!
“Grab the vines tightly!”
In the nick of time, Su Jin summoned wood-element vines to tightly connect the five of them.
Lu Hao held onto the vines with one hand and conjured a giant fireball with the other, hurling it downward!
The dark cave was illuminated, and Su Jin quickly threw down two man-eating flowers to accelerate their growth.
Once the man-eating flowers hit the ground, they began to grow rapidly, their wide leaves spreading out beneath. Finally, under Su Jin’s control, the five were safely lifted by the giant man-eating flower.
“Scared me to death,”
Lin Xiuyuan, with a vine still tied to his foot, was hanging upside down on one of the man-eating flower’s branches…
“Is everyone alright?”
Lu Hao, holding onto Su Jin tightly, felt relieved seeing the other three were unharmed.
“We’re fine, just a bit dizzy, like bungee jumping,”
Lin Cheng said, feeling a bit topsy-turvy, but started examining the cave with the others.
Su Jin took out some floodlights from the space and handed them to the group, brightening the area instantly like daylight.
“It’s so big in here,”
Lin Xiuyuan commented, observing the many hanging Ice Edges from the top, and a smooth ice layer covering the ground, making it look very much like an ice cave.
“Apprentice, girl, this place is extraordinary,”
Nie Qing said excitedly, also feeling the remnants of spiritual power here.
They continued forward, and Su Jin tried using the detector again, confirming there was no virus here.
“Why is that?”
Could it be because of the divine stone Nie Qing mentioned?
The little green sprout in her hand emerged on its own, and Su Jin, absorbed in her thoughts, paid it no mind. A while later, she sensed Xiao Cui’s extreme excitement and curiously walked in the direction Xiao Cui was pointing.
