Michael stared in wonder at Yuna, seeing her in a completely new light.

A triumphant smile flashed on her face. “That’s the unique power of a Montgomery.”

She raised her hand, letting power slowly simmer around the top of her palms.

Michael saw Aubility Power threads spooling out of nowhere, slowly creating a new fabric that began to replace reality itself. In the end, a tiny sliver of an entirely different dimension appeared on top of her palms.

His eyes widened.

“That… that was a Sanctum.”

That tiny fabric of reality, that tiny slice above her palms, was the same as the Sanctum Realm that he saw Claudia create back in the arena.

It was only a small wedge, an infinitely small shaving of a featureless Sanctum. But it was still a Sanctum nonetheless: a genuinely different dimension.

“We Montgomerys do not follow the normal power system of Maugnetics,” Yuna explained as she played around with the slice of Sanctum in her hands. It moved around her skin, like a sentient, playful liquid.

“Our unique position and inheritance forbade our lineage from deriving our power from GodForge pieces. Because of that, we do not cultivate Divas like Maugnetics do. This limits our power to one Aubility: creating Sanctums.

As you know, these Sanctums are worlds that are completely customizable to our desires.

Some may see it as a purely support-type of power, not intended for offense. But due to the innate competitive nature of the world, we had to innovate and think of a solution to our lack of firepower.

Yuna coated her entire arm with a fabric of Sanctum, completely isolating this part of her body into a different dimension.

Then, she thrust her hand forwards, a nonexistent rapier in her hands.

Her arm disappeared into a blur, completely escaping out of Michael’s perception.

This was how she was able to almost reach him, forcing him to use his Quantum Step!

“If I create a Sanctum whose laws of physics are non-existent and coated it around my hand, then any attack I make will also ignore the laws of physics.”

For normal Maugnetics, they used their Aubility Power threads to change the fabric of reality that corresponds to their essence.

Montgomerys couldn’t do that. So, they use their Sanctum instead to replace their reality. And in Yuna’s case, she used her Sanctum to increase her physical capabilities to the same level as a Maugnetic.

As far as Michael could see, her physical capabilities were the same as a 9th stage Maugnetic! She was far stronger than the Platinums he’d faced before.

“How did you become this strong?” he asked her.

She put her hands on her waist. “The stronger the Sanctum, the stronger the Montgomery. And in order to create a better Sanctum, we need a lot of knowledge about the world. When I left for my family estate, I continued my studies and became better at creating a Sanctum. This has allowed me to reach a peak. Just a little bit more, and I can transcend to the same level as Nascent Spirit cultivators.

She was right.

Michael was like a TNT explosion. Powerful and all-encompassing, allowing him to destroy everything in his path. Meanwhile, Yuna was like a gunshot. Weaker, but extremely focused, piercing through any of her obstacles with a single thrust. This allowed her to achieve the same result as Michael despite her power being lesser than him.

This was the skill difference between them.

And after experiencing it first hand, Michael now realized how much he was wasting his own power.

If he actually knew how to wield the sword, he could use his Unity Saber, Quantum Step, and Quantum Slash to achieve an unstoppable power that could pose a threat even to that of Nascent Spirit cultivators!

As it was right now, he was just blindly swinging his sword. It was all thanks to his pure firepower that allowed him to get by.

But that was a waste. Yuna showed him the true potential of physical skills.

“Do you get it now? Whatever it is you are worrying about. You can tell me. We can work on it together,” Yuna pleaded.

He turned to her, sighing. “You’re right. I’m sorry.”

Her unique disposition as a Montgomery could prove useful in their fight against Ersatz. Not only that, but he could also keep her much closer than before, with that secrecy barrier no longer separating them.
