Chapter 1014 Things to do, ice to make
Maugnetics weren’t the only ones plagued by pale imitations of their power. It seemed that Arbiters were as well. Somehow, the Ersatz were able to copy the powers of an Arbiter, including their ability to create Sanctums.
“They can create their own Sanctums?” Michael asked.
“They can. But like all powers brought about by the Artifice, this Sanctum is unstable and filled with inconsistencies,” Katarina answered.
Finally, Yuna turned her attention to Katarina. Her eyes narrowed. “Michael, who is she?”
She felt like she’d seen her before, she just didn’t know when or where. And by the way she was addressing her, Yuna could tell that she knew who she was.
“This is Katarina. She’s part of the Consortium that I told you about.”
Then, he turned to Katarina. “Don’t worry. She can be trusted with this secret.”
But it seems his worries were moot. She wasn’t perturbed about the secrecy of the Consortium as he thought she would.
At least, not when it was about Yuna.
Did she really know about her before this? Michael had a feeling that there was a connection between them that Katarina was unwilling to tell just yet.
“Who doesn’t know about the famous granddaughter of Xere? Your talents are unprecedented in this era—well, not before this guy showed up.”
Yuna seemed to have accepted that reasoning, but there was still a glint in her eyes that was trying to scour her memories for that distinctive stalwart aura that Katarina was giving off. She definitely saw her before.
“What are we going to do about this?” Michael asked.
Katarina immediately turned to him with a serious look. “You will do nothing. You’ve already done too much at this moment. We don’t want the Ersatz knowing about you just yet.”
“But what about—”
“We already have agents working on trying to track down the Ersatz Arbiters. They’re easy to distinguish once they show their Sanctums.”
The best thing that Michael should do right now was to lay low. The Ersatz would quickly get hot headed after finding out that their Stronghold was invaded. They’d be searching for heads to cut.
“You two should go back. The Consortium agents would come to this Stronghold soon to clean up the battlefield,” Katarina advised the two.
Michael wasn’t opposed to the idea.
He turned to Yuna, who still seemed to be in deep thought.
“Oh… yeah. I need some sleep too,” she said.
Michael could tell that she was still bothered about the Ersatz Arbiters. Seeing her like this put a damper in his mood. Her being sad made him sad—for some reason.
It was unfortunate that there was nothing he could do about it right now.
But it wasn’t because of Katarina’s warning. It was because the Shadow Orcs were currently preoccupied with the second Stronghold invasion.
Once they were done, he would task them with finding more clues about the Ersatz Arbiters so that he could lift that heavy weight off of Yuna’s shoulder.
He used his Shadow Teleportation, escorting Yuna back to her house, before he himself returned to the Nation of Reborn.
Laying back down on his bed, Michael’s mind was filled with a lot of thoughts.
There were a myriad of things he had to worry about.
The Lunar Celebrations weren’t over yet. Tomorrow, the second half of the Archery Competition was about to commence. This time, it would be the higher-levelled Maugnetics fighting to take home the trophy.
But he didn’t have to fret. The Rebornians’ job was over. Lady Farren and the other Elves would be in charge of the competition tomorrow. And knowing their prowess, their victory was all but assured.
What he did have to worry about was the Reborn company’s next move.
He needed to find another avenue for Sand Dollars.
Selling phones proved lucrative, but it was not enough. It was enough for him personally, but with the growing needs of the Shadow Orcs he’d need at least ten times more Sand Dollars in order to satiate their hunger.
If I could get started with the phone factory, that would solve my problem…
But to do that, he’d need a better way to produce Unity Power Sources. The Unity Clones did a great job, but again, it wasn’t enough. And with their new jobs as Faux Nascent Spirit cultivators, they’d be better off as soldiers or guards rather than factory workers.
Of course, if he had more Unity Clones to use, he wouldn’t have this problem.
ChatJK5, why can’t you create more Unity Clones?
[Creating Unity Clones requires a core for them to grow from. In my current software, I do not have the capabilities to reproduce them.]
ChatJK5 did know the specific formula for creating Unity Clones. She just wasn’t good enough to create it just yet.
It was the same reason as to why Michael couldn’t yet create any magical spell made out of Unity. He wasn’t that good at it yet. He could only do the Unity Gun because of a serendipitous light-bulb moment when he was on the verge of death.
So unfortunately, Michael could only create Unity Clones from the ‘corpses’ of the Unity Creatures back on that island.
If he wanted more, he’d have to find more Antiques.
Which reminds me… Romeo still owes me an introduction to those Draconians who own an Antique.
Then, there was the matter of the Elves with the Darkwood, the Filter for the Mermen, the Iron Maiden religion for the Vampires, etc.
Basically, there were a lot of things that were brewing in his mind.
But lying down on his, Michael couldn’t help but think about that expression on Yuna’s face. It wasn’t right that a wonderful human being such as her would continue being sad.
Finally, he decided. He got up off his bed and immediately transported himself to the main Market of the Nation of Reborn.
There, he obtained some milk from farmers, cream from bakers, and sugar from the spice vendors. He also got a few fruits to add some different tastes.
Once that was done, he returned to his room and began conjuring the items together, creating something that he knew would lift Yuna’s spirits.
Ice Cream!
