Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 1042 Tight-lipped

Chapter 1042 Tight-lipped
In an undisclosed location, Duchess Regina met with her two friends: a Heavenly Knight and a Mystic Master.
“Regina… let’s talk about the Reborn company,” said Rivet, wiping the oil from her face.
The Duchess had that mischievous grin on her face. “What about them?” she said, shrugging her shoulders.
“You know what I’m talking about! I had to pay a lot of money to take a look at that automobile myself. And that is an impossible piece of work!”
“Is it? I guess so. I’ve had my automobile for so long that I guess it doesn’t impress me much anymore,” the Duchess nonchalantly said. But of course, one could tell that she was only humble bragging.
“Knowing you, you would have already rubbed it in my face that such an invention was found in your territory,” Rivet said. “Why didn’t you?”
“Whatever do you mean?”
“Don’t pretend,” the blind old woman next to her interjected. “I could see the proud look on your face. Anyone can tell that you have something to do with how tumultuous the things are here in New Sparta.”
They weren’t wrong. Now, the appearance of the automobiles was interesting, but that could be explained by a once-in-a-lifetime invention by someone from the Reborn company. It wasn’t exactly an indication of their success.
Maybe they were a company that specialized in vehicles like that.
However, the lightning-quick construction of the Automobile Factory disproved that. They were able to even beat the Conglomerates in their construction projects! The Vanderbilts weren’t even finished building their walls before the Rebornians created their mountain-like building out in the plains.
It was a catalyst that caused the Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons to finally take the Reborn company seriously.
Who were they?
But when they did investigate, they found… nothing. No newspaper clippings, no verifiable rumors, nothing.
The official Metropolis stance was that the Reborn company was a company that came out of nowhere and dominated the market through their amazing inventions.
Of course, with a little bit more digging, everyone found out that there was something more in that story.
The only problem was that everyone in Metropolis seemed to be tight-lipped about Reborn.
“You had something to do with that, didn’t you?” asked Eldea. “There is no way that this information black out can occur in your territory without your express intent. What are you hiding?”
Duchess Regina laughed. For a blind woman, Eldea was always more sharp-eyed than most.
“You got me,” she relented. “Yes. We are keeping everything about the Reborn company a secret.”
“Why?”
The Duchess sighed. “Well, it’s our tactic for the Final All-Tournament.
All these competitions and tournaments that will happen in New Sparta will all culminate at the end of the year.”
Unlike the Archery Competition and all future events in the Lunar Celebrations, the All-Tournament was a team game. It was all based on their respective territories, meaning that it would be Metropolis vs. Zenthaven City, etc.
And right now, Metropolis was considered the top dog, which meant that they had a target on their backs.
Everyone was aiming for their spot.
And as part of their tactic, they made sure to scrub any information about the Reborn company as thoroughly as possible.
They were going to be Metropolis’ underdog. They were the dark horse that could determine if they achieved victory or not.
“So you’re saving them up for the All-Tournament,” Eldea muttered. “And… that’s it? If you wanted to keep them hidden, you wouldn’t have allowed them to reveal their demi-human Maugnetic so soon. There’s more to this.”
“To be honest, I was even surprised about that,” Regina said, shaking her head.
Eldea and Rivet were shocked. She was blindsided by the demi-human Maugnetic too? Then that meant that she was not the reason why they were so confident about Reborn’s strength! If not her, then who?
“Haha, I can never hide anything from you, can I? You’re right. The reason I went this far is because of something more personal. I’ve grown fond of them. And I want them to have the best path to success.
And as you all know, that can’t happen if—”
“—If the Conglomerates hear about them too soon,” Eldea said, finishing the Duchess’ words.
“Yup. They have a lot of potential. And when it comes to potential, those Conglomerates are even more bloodthirsty than even vampires.”
Eldea massaged her blindfolded eyes. “But what happens now? It looks like they’re now out in the open for the Conglomerates to see.”
“Yeah but I’m glad to see that they held their own. Did you see how much those Conglomerates and Upper Echelons had to bleed to get their own automobiles? Haha, it was fun to see.”
The Heavenly Knight and the Mystic Master agreed. The fact that Reborn was able to negotiate on even grounds with those kinds of opponents meant that they were very competent business-wise. At the very least, they had a good non-combat Maugnetic.
“But you know what happens next, right? With the automobiles now in their possession, they’ll be able to search the entirety of the Royal Continent to dig up history about the Reborn company. And it’s not just the Conglomerates who’re interested in the truth. The Upper Echelons will be a lot hungrier than them. It will basically be 100 vs 1 company. Whatever you’re hiding, it will just be a matter of time until they find out.”
But Duchess Regina didn’t seem to be all that worried given the circumstances. “Don’t worry,” she said. “Reborn is not alone.”
Rivet’s eyes widened as she realized something. “The Legacies! No wonder they’re nonexistent in the Archery Tournament!”
Duchess Regina nodded. “I’m not the only one who’s rooting for Reborn. The entirety of Metropolis is now under the umbrella of Reborn. And we will do everything we can to help them in this fight.
But even then, I know that it’s not enough.
And that is the reason why I’ve gathered both of you today. I’m going to need your help on this. And in exchange, I’ll give you these two items.”
Duchess Regina presented her friends with a key and a metal block.
“I’ll give you one of my automobiles, and one of my phones.”
