Chapter 1076 Talk with a fellow
Knowing Michael’s tendencies to reach far and above his own post, Alaric knew that he would try and get himself invited onto the Sumptuous Draconian Feast Festival. Of course, he knew not to underestimate Michael, given that he’d already learned that lesson when Michael overstepped during the auction and still proved himself better than everybody else.
However, this feast was different from anything else he’d faced before. The Upper Echelons and the Conglomerates were extra motivated to do everything they could to trample over all of their competition.
First of all, there was the matter of Tri-star’s territories. Everything in the upper region of the Royal Continent has already been divvied up and conquered for thousands of years, so it was extremely rare for these companies to expand their territory beyond their own. A free territory like Tri-star’s only happened once in a century. Usually, companies would have to go to war to consume territories, so they would certainly take this chance to perform their best in this Feast since it was relatively easier than going to war with others.
“The competition there will already be fierce from the start. But if the Conglomerates and the Upper Echelons find out that you’re going to participate, then they’ll do everything in their power to assert their dominance.”
They might have accepted automobiles as part of their daily needs, but that didn’t mean that they accepted the Reborn company to be one of them.
Yes, in terms of wealth and overall grip on the market, Reborn could be considered to be in the Upper Echelons already. The money they were earning from the automobiles and the fuel alone were enough to put them in the top 30 of the Upper Echelons already.
But these people knew that wealth was not the only thing that mattered when it came to the Golden Rankings. One must also have the strength to back it up. And not just strength coming from a single source, but the collective of the entire company. Reborn simply haven’t had enough time to establish their foundations at this point.
Sure they were able to somehow find the way to make demi-human as Maugnetics, but they still needed a lot of time to develop before they could contend with the others.
Alaric implied all of this, but he could still see that look on Michael’s face. One with a countenance filled with excitement instead of anxiety. It’s like he wanted the competition!
“Haaa… I know I can’t convince you of this decision, but let me give you some advice. You should ask help from your Upper Echelon allies,” Alaric said.
Michael paused. “What do you mean?”
“Your allies,” Alaric clarified matter-of-factly. “The ones that helped you defeat the Tri-star company?”
“Hmmm…”
Alaric’s eyes narrowed. “Look, you don’t have to keep it a secret from me. We’re in the same boat too.”
Michael laughed. “I really don’t know what you’re talking about. We didn’t have any Upper Echelon allies.”
This time Alaric was the one confused. “Sure you do. They’re the ones that helped you invade Tri-star’s main camp.”
“Uhhh… but we did that by ourselves though.”
Michael and Alaric both looked at each other for a few seconds, before Alaric shook his head.
“But that place was protected by a Nascent Spirit cultivator. He might just be a 1st stage Maugnetic, but that is still not something that can be taken lightly.”
“Oh, that? Well, we actually got lucky and caught the guy while his guard was down. My guys were able to kill him while his Nascent Armor hasn’t activated yet,” Michael laughed, scratching his head. He was a bit embarrassed talking about this.
However, his explanation didn’t seem to ease any of Alaric’s confusion. It only created a deeper crease in his forehead.
“Uhh… no, that’s now how that works,” Alaric said with a frown. “A Nascent Spirit cultivator has senses beyond the natural, physical world. They are not so easy to be caught off guard. Not only that, but their Nascent Armor will immediately manifest itself automatically if it senses that its user is in danger.”
From Alaric’s perspective, it was absolutely impossible that a Nascent Spirit cultivator could be defeated by those in the Body Formation realm, even if they had an army with them!
“The only way that that’s possible is if you are able to coordinate your attacks in less than the time it takes to blink! And even then, those attacks must be in the 9th stage of the Body Formation realm and beyond! I’ve seen some impressive cultivators in your midst, but I have yet to see a group of Maugnetics that could do that,” Alaric said.
Michael lightly laughed. “Oh, yeah. No, we have that. My clones are above the Body Formation realm.”
“Huh?”
And before Alaric could even say anything, he suddenly felt a chill on the back of his neck. He felt the presence of someone incredibly strong suddenly appearing right next to him!
He turned around and saw a taciturn woman ascend from a shadow on the ground.
“Alaric, meet Alpha. Alpha, meet Alaric. Though, you probably already know him.”
Alaric eyes widened. The first thing he noticed when looking at this silent woman was the fact that all of his instincts were telling him that he should summon his Nascent Armor right this very instant!
This woman was someone that could threaten him!
His first thought was that Michael had somehow employed a Nascent Spirit cultivator!
But as Alaric observed her more and more, he realized that there was something abnormal with her. It wasn’t just her lifeless eyes, nor the lack of emotion or sentience behind it. But it was also the fact that he couldn’t sense any Spirit from her!
She wasn’t a Nascent Spirit cultivator!
Somehow, this woman hovered in the barrier between the Body Formation realm and the Nascent Spirit realm! He didn’t even know how that was possible, but that was the only way he could describe her.
