Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 1078 Arbitrarily decided

Chapter 1078 Arbitrarily decided
According to Alaric, the number of Spirits one would gain were arbitrarily decided by the world itself. Sometimes, one would gain an immense amount of Spirits from a relatively simple event, while the complete opposite could happen as well.
Not only that, but there was no reliable way to earn Spirits. For example, Alaric earned about 5 Spirits from turning a sunny day into a rainy day as he stated before. But when he tried it again, he didn’t earn any more Spirits from it any more.
“Wow, I didn’t think it would be that complicated,” he said to Alaric, which made Alaric chuckle.
“Well, it’s the only reason why there aren’t too many Nascent Spirit cultivators roaming around the world. If there was a way to reliably earn Spirits, then the Conglomerates would have already created an efficient way to create as many Nascent Spirit cultivators in their army.
By then, us in the Lower Echelon would have no chance to ascend above our realms.”
“What do you mean?”
Alaric crossed his arms. “Well… there is one other way to earn spirits other than embodying your Diva. And that is fighting other Nascent Spirit cultivators.”
“Really?” Michael asked incredulously.
“Yeah. Another way of earning Spirits is by pitting your Diva against others. If you win, you’ll gain Spirits from the world for your victory,” Alaric explained.
After thinking about it, Michael found it to be fitting. After all, if you are able to win the fight against another Nascent Spirit cultivator, then you’ll be able to assert your Diva’s identity onto the world and your opponent.
“In a normal, unadulterated fight, you will not lose any Spirits if you lose the fight. Even if your opponent kills you, they won’t be able to steal your spirits.”
Michael narrowed his eyes. “I could feel a ‘but’ coming.”
“But… there is a way. A Sanctum Duel.”
In a Sanctum Duel, one could bet anything they liked. Money, assets, and apparently, Spirits.
“This kind of gambit is very risky, of course. Most sensible people steer away from this kind of Sanctum Duel. But there are some who specifically gain Spirits through duels. Thankfully, you won’t have to worry about them. You’ll just have to reject their offers since a Sanctum Duel needs affirmation from both parties to be official.”
At first, Michael wondered why people would want to bet their Spirits. But given how hard it was to earn Spirits naturally, he could see why people would want to go the easy route. After all, one would have to always outdo their previous actions if they wanted to earn more Spirits.
“I would never want to risk it,” Alaric said. “Embodying a Diva still gains the most amount of Spirits, and as long as you know your own Diva, you’ll be able to progress through your cultivation.
People often forget. Your Diva is still a part of you. It is still your power. It wouldn’t be your Diva if it is incongruous to your own personality. So, as long as you stay true to yourself, you’ll be able to gain Spirits without even wanting to.”
Michael was incredibly thankful for Alaric’s words. If he didn’t know about any of this, he would have had to go through his cultivation blind and with his hands tied behind his back.
At least now, he knew how to earn spirits.
He just had to remember that the harder, more complex, or more impactful the action it was, then the more Spirits one could gain from the world.
BEEP! BEEP! BEEP!
Michael felt a buzz in his pockets, interrupting his thoughts.
Someone just texted him.
{From: Yuna}
{You really owe me a lot of ice cream 🙂 I just found a loophole that will allow us to enter the Draconian Feast. We just have to bribe the organizer!}
Michael, with a smile on his face, texted back with Yuna before turning back to Alaric.
“Hey, do you happen to know who organized the Sumptuous Draconian Feast?”
Alaric’s eyebrow raised, but he still told Michael what he wanted to know.
“It’s a Draconian named Vought. Are you planning on trying to squeeze your way through the festival through him?”
Michael gave him a cheeky nod and a smile.
“Well, I’ll wish you tremendous luck. The guy is notorious to be someone who is bound by his rules. He doesn’t like giving exceptions. Even the Montgomerys find him to be a lot to handle,” Alaric said. “What do you think I should do?”
“If I’m going to be honest… I suggest you try and find another way in. I just don’t think that guy is going to bend his rules for you. But I guess that’s also a good thing for you. The Upper Echelons won’t be able to influence anything with regards to Vought. So, if you were able to do it, then you’ll be assured that it can’t be reversed. It’s just the ‘convincing’ part that’s going to be extremely hard.”
And before Michael became discouraged, Alaric gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “But with all that said, with your unusual charms, you just might be able to do it. I’ll never bet against Reborn now.”
Michael was very thankful he had a friend in Alaric.
“Even if you’re a Nascent Spirit cultivator now, I would still warn you to be careful in the Draconian Feast. They’ve been playing the game for a thousand years. You’re just at the first step.”
This was a warning that Michael would certainly heed. He was still not a Nascent Spirit cultivator for as long as he had no Spirit inside his core. That was enough of a deterrent for him to not do any risky moves.
“Alright, I won’t keep you long. You’ll have a tough job ahead of you.”
Michael nodded. “Thanks—”
[You have earned 5 Spirit.]
He stopped in his tracks. Then, he looked down at his own wrists, before seeing golden particles manifest out of nowhere.
Alaric looked as surprised as he was. “You have got to be kidding me…”
