Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 678: Reason for religion

Chapter 678: Reason for religion
“What?” Michael was surprised. The Deity of the Vampires was connected to Divas and Aubility Powers?
“It’s true,” Guillermo insisted. “Back in the ancient era, there were no distinctions between human, demi-humans, or beastfolks. We were all one species that benefited from an immense power, which you humans know to be as Aubilities, given to us by the gods. There was peace, abundance, and prosperity to all.
However, a great cataclysmic disaster occurred. The whole world was almost broken in half from the magnitude of the destruction.
After that, we lost our power, and slowly, we began to devolve into the current known species we are now. Some turned human and some demi-human, but not Vampires.
There was one human who was a devout follower and believer of our Deity. And on the brink of their death, their intense faith allowed them to seek out the Divine and ask for their help.
The Deity, even though they were slowly losing their Divinity, used the last bit of strength they had to save that loyal human from death. They gave them a second chance.
And thus, that human now became the Original Vampire.
Using this newfound lease on life, the Original began converting humans into Vampires, saving them from death and growing us as a species.”
Michael listened to Guillermo’s history lesson about Vampires and there were a few things that he was interested in learning more about.
He talked of a great cataclysmic disaster that basically ended the Ancient Era of prosperity and felt that it was familiar to him.
He remembered how the original GodForge was destroyed and broken down into pieces because of a great catastrophe. A part of it was reserved back in the Dwarven Kingdom, while the others were spread across the world randomly.
Could the two be talking about the same calamity?
It made sense because according to the Dwarven King, the GodForge’s destruction also happened when the Ancient Era ended.
So, before this great cataclysmic destruction in the Ancient Era, people wielded both Unity and Aubilities?
He already knew that back in the ancient era, people didn’t have just one mastery of a mana element. They mastered all, just like him, allowing them to wield Unity. But Guillermo just revealed to him that they also wielded Aubilities as well, making the Ancient Humans an incredibly powerful species.
“After this accomplishment, the Original Vampire faded back into the recesses of the world, having done what needed to be done.
Our ancestors dutifully kept a record of the Original Vampire’s last will.
They instructed us to find the missing religion of our Deity and restore it to its rightful condition, not just as a way of thanks, but as a way to restore our souls. Some even say that it would allow us to regain our powers as an Ancient Human!”
Michael went silent for a second before asking, “Wait, the Original Vampire disappeared? Did they die or something?”
“No, it has been written down that the Original Vampire is a true immortal. They cannot die. As for their location, we have no idea. If the Original Vampire does not want to be found, then they will never be found.
They said that they will only return once the Deity has been found.
Thankfully, despite their disappearance, our species as a whole has grown large enough to sustain our numbers through reproduction.”
It seemed that one of the known rumors about Vampires didn’t apply to these species. After all, it sounded like they couldn’t turn a human into a vampire through biting their necks. Only the Original Vampire could do that.
“So your goal in the Royal Continent is to find the Deity that started the Vampire race, the one who gave people the power of Aubilities?”
“Yes,” Guillermo replied. “The religion that once prospered throughout the lands has been fragmented and turned into ruins. It’s our job to find its remains, and stitch together its structure to complete the worship of our Deity.”
Michael had a thought in his mind, one that was hard to ignore.
Hmmm… there’s no way, right?
His mind reeled back to the first moment when he used his Aubilties, when that apparition of a metal woman appeared above his head.
Ever since then, he’d been wondering who or what it was. The only conclusion he could come to was that it must have been a deity that was related to the GodForge pieces. And it sounded like the Deity Guillermo was talking about was also connected to the GodForge pieces.
Could the Iron Maiden be the deity that they were talking about, or was it a mere coincidence?
A part of him didn’t want it to be true, simply for the fact that this would validate all of Fudge’s efforts to create the Iron Maiden religion. Through pure luck, the little slime may have actually stumbled upon an ancient religion that was deeply connected to the Vampires, as well as humanity as a whole.
“Can you tell me more about this Deity?”
“Our Deity is mother nature herself! She was the land beneath our feet. She was the skies that color our reality blue. Her power encompasses everything in between, from life and death, and from beginning till the end. She is creation itself!”
After hearing Guillermo’s description of this supposed goddess, Michael breathed a sigh of relief. The Iron Maiden was someone completely clad in metal, and was someone that was probably related to the blacksmiths. She was not the Deity that the Vampires were looking for.
He could only imagine the look on Fudge’s face if he found out that the Vampires were searching for the Iron Maiden.
“Thank god,” he muttered out.
“Huh? What’s that?”
“Nothing. Anyway, thanks for telling me all this. We’re still on for tomorrow right? You’re going to show me the fossils that you have in store?” Michael asked, quickly changing the conversation.
Guillermo nodded. “Yes, definitely. But before I leave, I want to explore the Nation of Reborn to its fullest. Do you have any churches over here?”
Michael froze. “Uhh… no?”
He was lying, of course. Even though he told Fudge not to do it, he was still able to spread the Iron Maiden religion in the Nation of Reborn. There were actually little churches here and there dedicating themselves to the Iron Maiden.
As much as he wanted to stop Fudge, he was a firm believer in everyone’s freedom to practice any religion that they wanted, even if it was something that Fudge created all on his own.
Still, he didn’t want Guillermo to see the churches. He had a bad feeling about it.
“Are you sure? I’m feeling quite a lot of pious energy in this place. We vampires are quite keen on that, you know. If Fairies can sense emotions, then we Vampires can sense faith and belief. And there’s a lot of that in the Nation of Reborn.”
Michael’s smile twitched. “Uh, now that you mention it, there may be some churches here,” he admitted. “But I don’t know if I’ll be able to take you there.”
“It’s alright,” Guillermo said. “I’ll just fly there myself.”
And before Michael could stop him, a shadow enveloped Guillermo’s body as he slowly turned himself into a bat.
Then, he flew off, following the direction of ’pious energy’ in the air.
