Chapter 695: New developments in the ravine
Alaric went silent for a second. The Purist Vampires may be physically weak compared to other beastfolks, but it was undeniable that their abilities to hide in the shadows were second to none. It would be hard for just anyone to detect them, especially if no one even expected them to be here.
So, if the Purist Vampires were defeated without anyone even knowing, then they had to be someone with incredible powers of detection.
And somehow, even though he didn’t have a single clue about this Purist Vampire situation, there was a person that came into Alaric’s mind.
“Michael,” he muttered, with an amused look on his face.
The royalblood Vampires looked at each other, confused.
“Who is that? We have no records of this name in Metropolis,” the female Vampire said.
But just as Alaric was about to say something, they all suddenly heard a knock on the door.
“I’m sorry for disturbing you, sir Alaric. But there’s a new discovery in the Red Ravine,” said one of Alaric’s employees.
The Red Ravine was a new discovery outside of Metropolis. Most companies were interested in conquering it, especially since it was rumored that there were Mithril Relics hidden inside it.
However, because of the current parade, most of the Major and Minor Factions decided to simply forgo the discovery and focus on attracting as much tourists as possible.
Of course, Alaric still sent some of his men to investigate and see if there was anything more worthwhile.
And it looked like there was.
Alaric gestured for his employee to come inside. “What is it?”
The man leaned into Alaric’s ear and whispered, “Sir, there’s been reports that a small group of adventurers found a treasure trove from the Ancient Era. Aside from ancient artifacts, they were also able to find GodForge pieces stored inside.”
Alaric’s eyes widened. “How much?”
“They were able to gather 20 kilograms, sir. And that’s just one of the rooms in the Red Ravine. It’s more than possible that the other undiscovered rooms contain much more than that.”
This development completely changed everything. GodForge pieces were a finite treasure, one that everybody would want for themselves. With those 20 kilograms of GodForge pieces, it would be just one kilogram shy of turning one human into a 6th stage Maugnetic!
Alaric didn’t plan to send more than one Maugnetic to the Red Ravine. But with this development, he would have to go himself if he didn’t want to miss those GodForge pieces.
In fact, as this news spread, everyone in Metropolis would send in their own expedition team to join the search for more GodForge pieces.
And that would, of course, include Michael.
“If you want to learn more about Michael, then I advise you to join our trip to the Red Ravine. I’m sure you’ll meet him there,” he said to the Vampires.
Michael needed those GodForge pieces the most. The only thing preventing him from moving up the rankings in Metropolis was the fact that he was the only Maugnetic in their company. So, this would be his chance to finally strengthen his foundation.
…
…
…
After the royalblood Vampires finished their talk with Alaric, they turned into a shadow and flew off his estate’s roof.
A few seconds later, a simple rock on the ground opened its eyes and blinked.
“Hm? Vampires?” Fudge muttered.
…
…
…
Michael was sleeping on his bed, when all of a sudden, he felt something jump on his chest.
Without even opening his eyes, he called out, “Fudge… can’t this wait till morning?”
“No, Master! I just heard some good news!”
He opened his eyes and saw the little slime donning his new Mithril Artifact/Mini Drone cape with pride.
“What is it?”
“Master, do you know about the Red Ravine?”
Michael recalled that there were some conversations about the Red Ravine back in the auction. But since most of the things that could be found there were just Mithril Relics, he knew that he didn’t have to join any of the expeditions.
“What about it?”
“There’s a new development, Master! They say that there’s a lot of GodForge pieces that were discovered there!”
As soon as he heard that, he jumped up out of his bed and sat straight. The mere mention of GodForge pieces washed away any of his drowsiness.
“According to my sources, there’s 20 kilograms of GodForge pieces that have been found. And there could be more!”
Michael stood up and walked back and forth. “If that’s true, then we should definitely go.”
“And… and… not only that, Master, but I heard that there’s going to be the appearance of Vampires there as well!”
He looked at Fudge, confused. “Vampires?”
All the Vampires from the parade were still in their hospital in the Nation of Reborn.
“Yes, Master! They just recently arrived in Metropolis. I think they’re called royalblood Vampires! They visited Alaric just a few minutes ago.”
Michael was surprised, not at the appearance of these so-called Vampires, but the fact that Fudge even knew about them in the first place.
“Where did you get this information?” he asked, suspicious.
“Hehehe, of course, I’ve been spying on them, Master!”
He looked at Fudge dead in the eyes. “You didn’t…”
“Aren’t I so cool, Master? I’ve been spreading my Shadow Diva everywhere!” Fudge bragged, showing off his cloak.
Michael shook his head. It’s not even been a full day yet, and Fudge had already been using it to infringe on people’s privacies. He didn’t know if he should be proud or disappointed.
“Don’t worry, Master! I was only spying on the weaker employees of Alaric and the other Major Factions. I know that if I tried to do that with those strong people, then I would get found out.”
Fudge had only been taking advantage of the fact that these Major and Minor Factions had lots of employees under their companies.
Because of that, whenever there was something big happening, there would always be gossip about it. That was inevitable.
“Sigh… just don’t go overboard.”
Now that he’d given Fudge an Aubility that advanced his spying game to the next level, it seemed that he had only awakened a beast that Metropolis wasn’t ready for.
He was just thankful that Fudge was still in the 1st stage of Body Formation. Otherwise, he would have already spread his Shadow Divas on every single person in Metropolis.
“Alright, then I guess we’ll be going to the Red Ravine. Tell the Dragonborns to be ready,” he said to Fudge.
The little slime saluted to him before turning into a shadow and teleporting out of his room.
…
…
…
Meanwhile, a few tens of kilometers away from Metropolis, there was a small convoy of carriages strolling through the rough stone roads.
The inhabitants of these carriages were beastfolks. And out of all the races of the beastfolks, these group of people were the most similar to humans.
In fact, the only thing different about them were their long ears that almost reached the top of their skulls.
They were Elves!
“We’ve heard of something interesting,” said one of male Elves to the person riding the carriage. “It’s about the Red Ravine.”
The Elf inside the carriage stayed silent for a second before replying, “Then we shall head over there immediately.”
