Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family - Chapter 830: Batter’s up

Chapter 830: Batter’s up
Chief Lupan smiled. He’d seen so many pitches from Charlie that he knew that there were no tricks hidden from that fastball. It was thrown literally straight down the middle, as if perfectly teeing up a homerun for him to hit.
“Thank you,” he said as he began his swing, muscles bulging in power.
Brown fur began to sprout on his skin, the full moon tattoo in his chest glowing with lunar power.
Tapping into the power of his own giant Wolf form, Chief Lupan’s already tremendous physical prowess grew to an even more immense state, surpassing what could even possibly be achieved with normal physics.
Space itself began to bend around Chief Lupan’s skin, the ripples perfectly representing the torque happening around his torso.
His natural talents in exerting physical strength showed itself. Just those few hits allowed him to hone his batting technique to pro athlete levels, possibly even beyond that, possibly to what could be achieved if a Werewolf dedicated himself to baseball.
And as Chief Lupan twisted his body, the ripples began to focus on a single point, a point that baseball experts would name as the ‘sweet spot’ in the bat.
That point perfectly coincided with the fastball’s trajectory.
Chief Lupan wasn’t planning on hitting this ball out of the park. No, he was planning on hitting it out to the moon. What would be more fitting of a sacrifice for their god?
Finally, as both bat and ball were about to meet, Chief Lupan poured everything into the hit.
But at the very last moment, the ball stopped.
It didn’t slow its speed. It froze perfectly in place, just an inch beyond the bat’s swinging arc.
In the middle of his swing, Chief Lupan saw the ball’s features with crystal clear clarity.
His eyes widened.
Attached in between the seams, there was a small block of iron with a smaller, vertical block hinged at the center.
Even he knew that no matter how small that block was, it should have thrown off the ball’s center of gravity and messed up its movement in the air.
Then he realized: it was an Aubility. It defied reality.
But it was too late. The momentum from his incredibly strong swing became his downfall. Unlike the ball, he couldn’t stop the momentum. The tip missed the ball by just a single inch.
Half a second later, as Chief Lupan’s bat swung out, the ball resumed its momentum and shot straight into Sheina’s mitts.
Strike.
Silence reigned in the baseball field as Chief Lupan remained in his swinging position. The fur that grew around his body recessed back into his skin, his muscles deflating.
The Brownblood Werewolves watching the game were in complete shock.
He was out. Chief Lupan couldn’t even get on 1st base.
“What do you think about baseball now?” Michael asked from the sidelines.
Chief Lupan faced Michael, a crazed smile formed on his face.
“HAHAHAHA! This baseball is fun!”
And with those words, the whole baseball field erupted.
“WOAH! Did you see that ball! It stopped in mid-air!”
“I was completely wrong about baseball! This is exciting! Watching it makes me want to try and hit the ball!”
“I want to try and pitch! Those curves look cool!”
Seeing the enthusiastic reactions from the Brownblood Werewolves, Michael smiled. He knew that giving them a chance to experience the heart-wrenching, anxiety-inducing, and seat-grabbing emotions of a baseball game would quickly endear them to the sport. And it looked like he was right.
Chief Lupan then picked up the baseball from the ground. “But it isn’t over yet. This time, I’m pitching,” he said, holding the ball with tremendous grip.
…
…
…
Finally, it was time for the Rebornians to try and hit Chief Lupan’s pitches.
Now normally, Michael would have thought that this was easy-pickings. Werewolves didn’t have the knowledge and finesse to throw complicated breaking balls. All they could do with their immense strength was a fastball, which was easy to hit with enough anticipation.
But boy, oh boy, he was wrong.
Their very first hitter was Delta. Being a 2nd stage Maugnetic, his clone was arguably the strongest among their team. So, he thought that they’d be able to get a hit—1st base at least.
But as Chief Lupan threw his pitch, it zoomed towards home plate at a speed even faster than Charlie’s. His entire right pitching arm had half-transformed into a Wolf, doubling in size and growing fur all over.
This gave Delta no chance to react. He swung his bat, anticipating a trajectory in the upper right corner of the strikezone.
But suddenly, the ball curved downwards, causing Delta’s swing to miss.
“Strike!”
This was a perfectly executed curveball!
Somehow, Chief Lupan was also able to perfectly copy Charlie’s technique down to the finger movements.
Michael completely underestimated how talented Chief Lupan was in baseball. The wolf was a natural! Coupled with his immense physical strength, his pitches became completely unstoppable!
His pitches’ curves, speeds, and slides were completely exaggerated, to the point where Michael started to doubt if there was a controller in the ball assisting its movements.
It wasn’t long before a third strike was called out, forcing the second batter to come up at bat.
It was Echo’s turn, another 2nd stage Maugnetic Unity clone. However, Michael doubted that the results would change from the previous one.
And he was right. Chief Lupan achieved a perfect strikeout against them, leaving only one chance for the Rebornians in the inning.
This time, it was Charlie’s turn. Unfortunately, it seemed that the Werewolf Chief would have his revenge.
Chief Lupan threw a pitch, which Charlie immediately swung at. However, it seemed that her bat was too slow as the ball reached the catcher’s mitt even before she got in the middle of her swing.
“Strikeout!”
Somehow, a first-time baseball player achieved an immaculate inning. He threw a no-hitter in nine pitches.
Michael couldn’t believe it. He may have introduced a genius to baseball!
With the Rebornians’ chance over, it was now time for the Werewolves to have another chance to bat in the second inning.
Thankfully, it seemed that not every Werewolf was as talented as their chief.
They were able to hit the ball semi-consistently, but the Rebornian defenders were able to quickly recover the ball and throw to the bases.
The Brownbloods were able to have runners on the second and third bases at one point–-just one hit away from scoring—but thankfully, Charlie was able to close it out with a fly ball that was caught by the 1st baseman.
Despite the inning ending with no runs scored, Michael wasn’t relieved. After all, his team was going to bat against a monster of a pitcher once again.
He thought that their best batters were his Unity Clones, but even they were helpless against him.
His next hope were his Dragonborns, but they were all in the 1st stage of Body Formation. They were still one stage lower than Chief Lupan’s current weakened state.
We have no choice but to bunt, he thought.
Their first batter was Zion.
The red-scaled Dragonborn approached the field, holding the bat in both hands with a confident look in his eyes.
