“Chase him down, over there, don’t let him get away!”
At Princess Anna’s command, the many guards within the royal palace immediately gave chase in that direction.
Especially, some of the most powerful generals moved with incredible speed. They leapt like they were flying, and before Princess Anna’s words had even settled, their silhouettes had already reached that area.
As for Princess Anna herself, her figure flashed as she soared into the air, her eyes flickering with flames as she looked in the direction indicated by the Golden Crow.
Just as the royal guards and generals had yet to spot Qin Feng’s figure, the Golden Crow suddenly opened its beak and spewed a scorching golden-yellow flame.
From within a shadow, Qin Feng’s form quietly emerged.
He dodged the flames with a swift step and looked up at the Golden Crow, unable to suppress a stirring of excitement.
This creature could actually see through his Shadow Transformation Divine Power.
It seemed this crow was indeed extraordinary!
If he could capture it and merge it with his Death Curse Crow…
Before Qin Feng could continue the thought, he saw seven or eight long spears suddenly piercing through the air towards him, whistling sharply as they aimed for his body.
These were the spears thrown by those royal guards and generals who used some special technique that gave their throws immense power, so much so that even with Qin Feng’s current robust Taoist body, he didn’t want to resist directly.
His body flickered as he dodged the spears, having no intention of fighting with the guards. With one leap, he covered a distance of more than a hundred yards.
The Golden Crow cawed persistently overhead, circling without rest, sporadically spraying flames to attack him. It seemed to be cautious of the various buildings in the royal palace, so the power was not significant. In fact, when Qin Feng was directly above those buildings, it refrained from casting spells altogether.
Qin Feng’s eyes darted around as he suddenly quickened his pace, running towards the outside of the royal palace, looking like he was frantically trying to escape!
Of course, the Golden Crow was not about to let him get away so easily. Since the other guards couldn’t catch up for the time being, to avoid Qin Feng’s escape, it kept circling overhead to direct the guards.
Once they left the Royal City, the Golden Crow no longer held back, flapping its wings and instantly stirring up countless flames in an attempt to block Qin Feng.
Behind him, Princess Anna followed at a leisurely pace in the air.
She didn’t make a move and seemed quite amused while watching Qin Feng’s ‘clumsy’ attempts to dodge the myriad of flames scattered by the Golden Crow.
Clearly, she didn’t believe Qin Feng could escape from the pursuit of the Golden Crow.
Because this Golden Crow was extraordinary, it was a gift from her father when she was born.
Although she had never seen her father since she could remember, she knew that her father was a powerful divine being.
Therefore, she possessed strong bloodline powers and was a very rare first-generation demigod within the Human Clan.
However, bloodline powers grew stronger with age, and although the current Anna still had further potential, her powers had not yet reached their peak due to her age.
Even so, she was already very formidable; the kingdom’s strongest warriors were no match for her. During an enemy nation’s invasion three years ago, she turned the tide at a critical moment, defeating the enemy country’s strong warriors with her powerful bloodline and becoming the kingdom’s hope for prosperity. She was also established as the sole heir to become the next queen!
Behind, a group of guards, generals, and other experts closely followed by riding their warhorses.
These horses were also of an unknown breed that managed to keep up with Qin Feng’s running speed.
Although Qin Feng did not exert his full power, and he even didn’t use the “Shrinking Ground to Inch” Divine Skill, these warhorses were still able to keep up, which was rare.
But then again, it made sense, for this was a high-rank world after all. If the Human Clan was able to occupy such vast lands in Midgard, they must possess corresponding formidable strength.
Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be a matter of resisting attacks from Giants and Monsters, they probably wouldn’t even be able to withstand the mutual invasions among nations!
Qin Feng glanced at the mountains ahead, then looked up at the Golden Crow that was closing in.
He could feel that the Golden Crow was trying to hold him back, not wanting him to enter the mountains. Although the warhorses of those warriors behind him were extraordinary, capable of running through the mountains, their speed would undoubtedly be affected and not as swift as before.
However, strong as the Golden Crow may be, classified with the strength at the peak of the Purple Mansion according to the standards of the Cultivation World, relying solely on these flame attacks to hold Qin Feng back was not possible.
Even without using Magic Divine Power or the Principle Power, and relying only on his Physical Body Power, Qin Feng could put up a fight against this Golden Crow. How could he be so easily detained by it?
Looking desperate and fleeing was only a ruse to bewilder his adversary.
Seeing the Golden Crow spewing out vast flames once again, Qin Feng shielded his head and face with his arms, charging forward recklessly, piercing right through the flames and entering the mountains with sparks scattered all over him.
The Golden Crow cawed loudly, its call filled with annoyance.
In its fury, the power of its flames grew stronger, seemingly scattering Qin Feng in all directions, but actually increasing the distance between it and the pursuers behind.
Princess Anna frowned at the sight of the mountainside ignited by flames, waving her scepter to absorb the burning flames into its shaft to contain the spread of a potentially devastating forest fire and prevent harm to the kingdom’s citizens.
But by doing so, she had created a distance from the Golden Crow, which was in pursuit of Qin Feng.
Moments later, Qin Feng cast a glance back over a great distance, feeling that he had gained enough space to launch a surprise attack. Therefore, he no longer delayed, suddenly sprinting to the summit of a mountain and leaping down, appearing to attempt an escape through a mountain ravine.
The Golden Crow, of course, did not give up, following closely behind Qin Feng.
Princess Anna, tens of miles away, only spared a glance and paid it no mind. She thought Qin Feng was no match for the Golden Crow and did not worry about it temporarily leaving her line of sight.
What she didn’t expect was that this glance would be the last, for from that point on, she never saw the Golden Crow that had guarded her since she was young ever again.
After jumping off the mountain peak, Qin Feng suddenly accelerated, swiftly circling around two mountains.
The Golden Crow followed relentlessly, but as it rounded another peak ready to unleash its flames on Qin Feng again, it suddenly felt something amiss.
Looking down sharply, it saw an abnormal creature that seemed half human and half vine, its body crimson as blood, wildly lashing out with more than a dozen thick vines toward it.
The Golden Crow let out a strange cry, flapping its wings, releasing a barrage of flames like meteors of fire rain toward the Soul Devouring Vine Demon below.
Fire overcomes wood, and given its extraordinary origins, the power of its flames was formidable. After just one wave of attacks, it had burned the Soul Devouring Vine Demon’s vines to a ragged state, scattering leaves and branches.
As it wondered where this Vine Demon had come from, it suddenly sensed danger from behind.
Turning around, it saw a massive White Dragon opening its mouth to spew a powerful purifying Holy Flame, presenting a significant threat.
At the critical moment, the Golden Crow desperately flapped its wings to twist its body, barely evading the Holy Flame.
But before it could recover from the shock, it felt a peculiar sensation overhead. Its golden eyes rolled upward just in time to see a large spider web descending from the sky, enveloping it inside.
Atop the mountain peak, a massive, fierce, and hideous spider was staring intently, aligning its abdomen at the Crow, already beginning to emit a second web.
The Golden Crow was shocked. What sort of monster had suddenly appeared, and where had it come from? It had never heard of any monster near the Royal City with such formidable strength—let alone three of them popping up at once!
Golden flames erupted from its body, as it attempted to turn the spider web to ashes.
Unfortunately, although its flames were powerful, the Ghost-Faced Spider was an expert in the Flame Principle as well. Therefore, its spider silk had a strong resistance to fire. Unless it was the Holy Flame with the mighty purifying power of the White Dragon, ordinary flames truly couldn’t easily destroy the spider web.
The Golden Crow realized the resilience of the spider web and knew it couldn’t incinerate it in an instant. So it extended its sharp claws and scratched and tore fiercely, trying to break through the web.
In fact, it succeeded because it was indeed stronger than the Ghost-Faced Spider.
Before it could fully extricate itself from the web, the White Dragon had already approached, lashing out with its tail and sending the Golden Crow spinning and crashing headfirst into the ground.
Then a dozen thick and tough vines tightly entangled it. Although these vines were suppressed by its flames, they couldn’t be destroyed in an instant. More importantly, the vines could regenerate continuously. Even if burned off by the Golden Crow, they would quickly grow back, making it difficult for it to escape.
In a panic, the Golden Crow cawed loudly, hoping that its master would come to its rescue as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, before its master arrived, it saw Qin Feng’s face, full of excitement.
Qin Feng didn’t waste time. Princess Anna had already noticed something was amiss and was quickly on her way here, so he didn’t have much time to spare.
Although he could probably handle Princess Anna with the help of a few of his Spiritual Beasts, his task wasn’t to fight. There was no need to engage in a life-and-death struggle with Princess Anna at this moment—getting injured would only delay his own affairs.
At this stage, completing the task and seizing the trial spot was the main goal.
After all, this was the key to whether he could become an immortal as soon as possible.
Golden light shimmered in Qin Feng’s hand as he condensed the Ruyi Golden Light into a large hammer, then slammed it fiercely onto the Golden Crow.
He had a measure in his heart, controlling the force to merely leave the Golden Crow dizzy and seriously injured, but not taking its life.
After a few thudding blows, the Golden Crow, bound and powerless against the Soul Devouring Vine Demon, was knocked unconscious. Qin Feng grabbed its wing, tossed it into the Demon Refining Pot, and then quickly retracted the Soul Devouring Vine Demon and the Ghost-Faced Spider, mounting the White Dragon’s back.
The White Dragon spread its wings and flew rapidly toward the distant sky.
The whole process had an eerie feel to it. Because of Qin Feng’s prior admonitions, even the White Dragon, which loved to exhibit its Dragon Power to intimidate opponents, had not roared and had silently abducted the Golden Crow.
In the distant sky, Princess Anna, after hearing the alarmed cries of the Golden Crow, was initially taken aback.
She had thought the thief who stole the book would definitely be no match for the Golden Crow. She didn’t expect to hear its cries of alarm.
Although she did not know what had happened, she immediately gave up her efforts to control the flames in the mountains and chased forward.
But when she circled around several mountain peaks and arrived at the site of the fight, she found no trace of the Golden Crow.
In fact, even when she released her Divine Power to sense her surroundings, she found no trace of the Golden Crow. Instead, she noticed a Giant Dragon rapidly moving away in the distance.
And atop the Giant Dragon’s back was a figure—none other than Qin Feng, whom she thought was weaker than the Golden Crow!
Though somewhat confused, Princess Anna immediately gave chase.
Without question, the Golden Crow’s sudden disappearance had to be related to this person.
Blazing flames of light emanated from her body, her speed extraordinarily fast, even surpassing that of the White Dragon.
Qin Feng was also startled by the sight, never expecting the demigod bloodline to be so domineering.
It seemed that relying on the White Dragon might not be enough to escape after all.
His eyes darted around as he instructed the White Dragon to fly low, then again concealed his figure behind a mountain peak. After storing the White Dragon in the Demon Refining Pot, he flickered with a yellow glow and submerged into the earth.
Although Earth Escape Divine Power was not as fast as Flying Escape, it was still not slow, particularly since Qin Feng had the Earth Element Principle to bolster him. So when Princess Anna arrived behind the mountain peak, she was met with the same empty scene as before, completely barren of clues.
This time there wasn’t even a trace of the previous battle’s aftermath.
She spread out her divine power and even swept the area with her spiritual power, but found nothing.
Unwilling to give up, Princess Anna searched the surrounding hundred miles thoroughly, but to no avail. In the end, she had no choice but to return to the Royal Palace, disheartened.
Luckily for Qin Feng, he hadn’t seized this opportunity to double back and attack. If he had decided to take another stroll in the Royal Palace while Princess Anna was away, it would have surely driven the princess to the brink of madness.
…
Inside a city, Qin Feng strolled leisurely down the street.
Half a year had passed since he captured the Golden Crow.
During this time, he would stop and go, often collecting information in various countries of the Human Clan. To avoid further mishaps, he scarcely frequented the libraries of royal and noble families. Nonetheless, after such a long time, he had uncovered many secrets.
He was in a kingdom called Visby.
This country was fairly powerful among its neighboring nations, often engaging in wars to conquer others.
But none of this concerned Qin Feng. He came here because he heard that this kingdom possessed a special Divine Artifact, the Fire God’s Hammer!
Rumor had it that it was a forging hammer once used by the Fire God itself, endowed with supreme divine power!
Initially skeptical, Qin Feng grew interested after hearing that the royal family possessed the Fire God’s bloodline.
If the rumors were true, then the Fire God’s Hammer was at the very least of Immortal Artifact grade, worth his visit. Moreover, he might gain some records about the Fire God from the royal family.
Qin Feng wore a long robe, resembling a minor nobleman’s son, neither too ostentatious nor too subdued.
In the countries of the Human Clan, noble status still had its uses—at the very least, one wouldn’t be troubled without reason.
He had considered dressing in leather armor, but found that warriors in this realm tended to be too rigid. Though courageous in battle, they were rough and unsophisticated in daily life, making other disguises more suitable for gathering information.
Qin Feng had scoffed in his heart, suspecting that this simplistic demeanor was deliberately cultivated by the King of Gods, as such straightforward characters could foster more fearless warriors, increasing the ranks of the Heroic Spirit Warriors in the Heroic Spirit Hall.
He stopped and cast an evaluative glance at the Royal Palace ahead.
Just as he was about to circle the palace, a somewhat familiar figure appeared in the distance.
Qin Feng paused, reining in his aura as he covertly observed with a sideways glance before turning to walk in another direction.
It was a tall and burly man, seemingly dressed as the bravest of warriors in this realm.
Yet, Qin Feng saw through the disguise at a glance—the man was certainly not a warrior from this realm but a true disciple of the Giant Spirit Sect!
