Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1711 Acceptance

Chapter 1711 Acceptance
Ning didn’t decide himself. His decision was obvious. It was Shara who needed to decide here since she was the one he was doing it for. Wherever she said, he would take her.
Shara couldn’t make the decision immediately. She needed to think about it. Going from one corner of the continent to the other was not something she could think about very lightly.
They let her think about it on her own time.
After eating, Shara went to get some rest for a while. The soldiers wanted some nap too.
“You two, go and keep watch. The remaining can rest here for a while. Then we go search for food later,” the leader said.
Everyone agreed without arguing at all. They moved to do as the leader told them to.
Ning sat around. “You know, you haven’t told me your name yet. Or in fact, you have made it a point to not use any names of the people around you,” he said.
“If it is decided that we are leaving together for my country, I will tell you my name,” the man said.
Ning grinned and shrugged. “I guess that makes sense.”
“So, what will we do if the girl accepts? Or doesn’t accept,” the man asked.
“We have time. Either way, we won’t be leaving for quite some time anyway. I need to stay here for at least tomorrow to look after your wounded soldiers. Then… I will think about what can be done.”
The man nodded.
He went to take a nap of his own. He was quite tired too. Around late afternoon, Shara walked out with her spear, ready to train once again. Since Ning had both his hands now, his training was much better than before since he could actually show her the moves he told her about.
The soldiers came to watch them practice, some of them in awe. Having been soldiers, they understood when someone knew how to use a weapon properly. There was subtle information from stances to grip angles that told one how well one knew their stuff.
They joined too, if not for training, then to just exercise. With the boots Ning had brought for them, they could move a lot better now.
While they trained, a few of the soldiers began cooking. Once night fell, they came out to the grassy land where they sat underneath the stars and began eating.
They set up camp afterward and slept, while a few of the people remained awake the keep watch. They still needed to make sure that no soldiers came for them.
It didn’t make sense for them to come during the night when they couldn’t see anything, which was unfortunately, the best time for them to come.
They would be the most unprepared.
Ning barely slept through the night. It wasn’t that he was uncomfortable or anxious about something. It was the small whimpers of the wounded and sick that made it hard to fall asleep. Their grunts kept him awake partly into the night before he could properly fall asleep.
The next day, he woke up in the morning and began his day by looking over the wounded and the sick.
The sick were showing better signs after the night, having taken their proper medicines. Their fever was a lot less and some had even begun sweating. It wouldn’t take long before they were all healed.
The day began sunny but soon began overcast as clouds came from the east. It had taken him some time to remember that the Lenes mountains were right next to the Bay of Riches, from where the rainclouds floated into the mountains each time.
Thankfully, it didn’t rain, or that would have been another problem entirely. Since the day was colder than usual, the soldiers were happy to get a hearty meal they could eat in front of the fire.
“You two go keep watch after you’re done eating,” the leader pointed to the two.
“Yes, boss.”
Ning watched the two leave. “You sure are an untrusting man,” he said. “You still think I am laying a trap for you.”
“Even if you were, I wouldn’t hurt you at this point. You healed my soldiers and helped bring them food and clothes. That alone is enough for me to trust you. What I don’t trust is you to have remained inconspicuous enough to not have people follow behind you.”
Ning raised his eyebrows a little. “I guess that makes sense,” he said. As they were talking, Shara walked up to them.
“I have made the decision,” she said.
Both Ning and the leader’s eyes perked up. “Okay, and?” Ning asked.
Shara took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes, I would like to go,” she said.
“You are okay with this?” Ning asked.
“Yes,” Shara said. “More than okay.”
Ning smiled. “You heard her. We are working together now.”
The leader nodded slowly. “The deal has been made.” The soldiers around him looked toward him, and he nodded back at them. All that needed to be said was done.
“Can I know your name then?” Ning asked.
The leader smiled and nodded. “I am Matthew Vin Reeves, leader of the 2nd Vin Batallion,” the man said proudly.
Ning’s eye raised slightly in surprise. “You’re a noble,” he said.
“There are no nobles or commoners in the Golden Republic. There is just one, the people of the republic,” the man said. The soldiers seemed to find pride in the leader’s words.
Ning smiled. “I like that,” he said. “I know you think you know our names, but we have been lying as well. I am not Maurice, and she is not Mona. My name is Ning, and her name is Shara.”
“And I assume you are not brothers and sisters,” the leader asked. “You two look too different to be one.”
Ning smiled. “No, I am more of a… personal guard that she didn’t hire,” he said. “She was in trouble, so I decided to help her get out of said trouble.”
“Trouble?” the leader asked curiously. “What trouble?”
