Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1787: Lizard

Chapter 1787: Lizard
Shara struggled against Oleander.
Getting close to him was difficult enough with the constant mace swings that would explode upon hitting anything, but the fact that he was decked out in armor made everything infinitely harder.
Oleander was taller than her, so every time she tried to strike him, she ended up spearing his chest since she couldn’t find an angle to the opening on his helm.
The plate armor made it difficult to go for joints too. She could only struggle while hoping for a chance sometime in the future.
She moved backward, pulling Oleander away from the other battle. She couldn’t allow him to teleport to the prince, and he didn’t do so.
He seemed lost in the battle, and focused entirely on killing her. His swings went for her head each time, hoping to catch her each time she canceled her power in order to land a strike.
Shara hadn’t used this spear before, so she was getting used to it. The fact that each swing gave her more momentum was not something that she could immediately understand how to use, so she had to learn her way up there.
The two hadn’t fought each other for that long when Shara saw Jema get stabbed through the chest.
She was surprised at how quickly the battle had ended on the other side. She let the mace swing phase through before stepping away from the explosion. When it died down, she canceled her power.
She needed to save her energy. Constantly dodging attacks alone wouldn’t help her in the long term.
She needed more power here, one that she didn’t have to rely on herself.
She stepped back further and pulled on her left sleeve. Underneath it, there lay a small bracelet with a large stone in the center. The stone glowed with a dull light and images flickered through them.
Ning had explained them to her, but she didn’t know much about them still. The only thing she was told was that she had to find the silhouette of the lizard or the spider and choose it.
These two would be the most useful.
Shara came across the lizard first, so she chose it.
Instantly, light shined through the stone and a small lizard with blue scales and two tiny horns on its head appeared before her. Light flashed between the lizard’s horns, a long thin line that flashed into existence touching the two horns before disappearing.
It came with a zapping noise and went away just as quickly.
The lizard climbed onto Shara, and Shara gained the power of the animal that came out of the Summoner’s Bracelet.
She got the power of the Lightning Lizard.
Shara didn’t know why Ning had this in the first place, but she didn’t need to think about that right now. All she needed to do was fight with it.
The lizard’s powers became obvious to her the moment she had summoned it, so she pointed her spear toward Oleander and used it.
The lizard flashed blue with a bright light, its powers transferring onto Shara, who directed the power out of her through the spear.
A small bolt of lightning flashed through the spear, going directly for Oleander.
The speed at which the lightning bolt struck him was far too quick for him to react to it in any way.
Oleander dropped to the ground, his entire body paralyzing momentarily from the shock. He slowly got up, failing to understand what had happened. He had been shocked somehow, but that hadn’t been this woman’s power.
He looked at the lizard with confused eyes. It had been the lizard, but how?
Shara was surprised. She hadn’t expected the man to have taken the lightning bolt so easily. Had her lightning bolt been so weak? Or had the man’s massive metal armor been a cause for the power dissipating before it reached him?
Shara could see that he was visibly shaken from the attack, so some of her attack had done something to him.
She pointed her spear again, ready to shoot another bolt of lightning, but Oleander disappeared within moments of her targeting.
Shara heard him reappear in the distance, far on the edge of the field where they fought. She pointed toward him there too, but knew instinctively that the bolt of lightning wouldn’t reach that far.
She could only target in a set range. Beyond that, the lightning followed the natural law, which meant it would likely hit the ground.
Shara turned toward the prince and Jema. The prince had somehow ended up atop her and was choking her to death. She couldn’t see her face from this angle.
’She’s going to die soon,’ she thought. ’If I don’t take care of him before that, he’ll come after me.’
They had only worked together in the moment because doing otherwise would lead to both of their deaths. However, if a single one of the other two died, they would enter a battle where each one was for themselves.
And Shara knew that in such a situation, she would only go for the prince, regardless of what happened to her in the process.
She lifted her spear and pointed toward the prince. She had to wait for the right time and kill him just as he was done killing her.
The lizard lay ready for command.
She walked toward where the prince and Jema lay in a struggle and slowly got closer.
She had barely reached the two when Oleander appeared behind her, his swing already underway as he went for her head.
Shara couldn’t see behind her, but she didn’t have to.
With the lizard’s assistance, things had already changed a lot for her. Her mind moved a lot faster than anyone else within the battlefield, and her body reacted just as fast.
The moment she heard Oleander’s appearance behind her, she already knew what she had to do.
She activated her power and watched as the mace slowly appeared through her face and swung to the side. She turned around at the same time, her body so very fast thanks to the lightning enhancement provided by the lizard, and turned toward Oleander who had overextended himself.
