Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1796: Growing Empire

Chapter 1796: Growing Empire
Matthew, Romus, and Mari each were given an official title and job by Shara as one of her first few royal decrees.
Matthew became the Chief of the Royal Guard, whose job was to forever defend the lives and dignity of the royal family, which for now included only Shara. As soon as he was tasked with that job, he began hunting for new soldiers to add to the Royal Guard.
Thanks to the truth-searching scroll they had received after Oleander’s death, things became easy.
Matthew took his time gathering the best soldiers.
Mari became the Royal Healer. Her powers were ones that could not be so easily scoffed at. Being able to bring back missing limbs helped the country more than anyone could imagine.
There were so many wounded men and women that could not work due to their injuries from the war. With Mari’s help, they got right back into helping rebuild the empire.
Despite the decades of war, the Golden Empire’s land itself hadn’t been hit as badly as it would’ve been had the mountain ranges not been there to protect them. The war being concentrated on just one spot had helped all farmlands remain usable, albeit lacking in manpower and maybe not as well kept.
It just needed people to go back to working on it.
Romus was made the Chief of the Undead Army, leading a legion of undead soldiers to protect the empire. His first task was to flush out all the hiding bandits.
Many young men and women who did not wish to go to war had ended up fleeing and becoming bandits to survive. Those people needed to be brought back to be judged. If what they had done wasn’t too bad, they would be placed back into work. If not, they would be punished for their crimes.
Either way, Romus worked hard to get rid of crime and danger from all around the empire.
His undead soldiers were steadily growing. With each death, he gained more soldiers. Right now, he had nearly 9,000 from the many dead soldiers from that night of attack.
Ning was also to be given a title, but Ning refused it. Officially, he was a nobody in the empire, but he liked it that way.
Still, he helped Shara as he said he would and started training new recruits in the way of his spear art. Everyone who knew Ning knew of his terrifying talent with the spear, so it didn’t take long for the training to start.
Ning made sure to train them as hard as he could so that he could leave as soon as he could. He wanted to spend his time going around the world, spending his time with this system for as long as he could.
The 300 points he had received from Shara’s ascendancy to the throne, along with many minor quests along the way, had helped him a lot. He had so many things to spend those on, and so many more points to earn.
Halfway through the year, the kings and queens of the many kingdoms requested a visit to the empire. They were allowed entry and soon the palace was filled with kings and queens from all 4 kingdoms and the one duchy.
The Golhlog Empire had gone back to being the Golhlog Kingdom in this time, and its new king was a young man barely 14 years of age, accompanied by an older man. After the prince’s death, the truth of what he had done had been revealed to everyone.
The prince had been responsible for the death of many of the coalition’s high-ranking officials, all so they could be forced into a final war effort to win against this empire.
However, that plan had failed, and now the Golhlog Empire had a king that was the previous emperor’s grandson on his daughter’s side.
The young prince was more or less polite and didn’t seem to be quite timid in nature. People weren’t certain if he was a good king or not.
The rest of them hadn’t changed. The kings and queens of the Marsh and Olvia Kingdom had been eyeing the Onyx throne all their lives. They had wanted to get on the throne by either marrying Oleander or Jema when they finally got on it.
Sadly for them, all of their effort had been in vain, and now they had to suffer the aftermath of pushing their kingdoms through over 35 years of war.
Ning was present for most of the meetings with the kings and queens, but he didn’t bother taking in anything. Shara could handle it all, and she had those 7 council members to help her make any important decisions.
He wasn’t needed.
The kings and queens left two weeks later, returning the empire to its usual days.
Ning once again spent his days training his soldiers. Half a year more passed and Ning told Shara what he wanted to do.
“You wish to leave my empire?” she asked.
“For a year,” Ning replied. “I’ll come back right after. You won’t even realize I’m gone.”
Shara thought for a bit. “If that is what you wish, I shall allow it.”
Ning smiled. Her words now carried a royal verbiage.
“Before you leave, however, I… I need some help,” she said.
“My help?” Ning asked.
Shara nodded. “I’m 17 now,” she said. “And I should be getting married soon, but…”
“But I have a wife and daughter,” Ning quickly said.
Shara stared at him for a moment before smiling. “I wasn’t talking about you,” she said. “I was speaking in general. Most girls end up marrying when they’re 18. It’s rare for them not to. But I don’t know where to even begin.”
“Well, you just said it,” Ning said.
Shara was confused. “Said what?”
“Most girls marry when they’re 18,” Ning said. “But are you most girls?”
Shara paused for a bit and smiled. “So I should do what I want?” she asked.
“You are the Empress. Your word is the rule,” Ning said. “Focus on the empire for now. You can find a husband later on.”
