Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1839: Clairvoyant

Chapter 1839: Clairvoyant
Ning was very much interested in who or what the Clairvoyant was, but Larissa would not tell him at all.
“You’ll meet her tomorrow anyway. We’ll go there first thing in the morning,” she told him and promptly shut up about her.
Ning didn’t argue against her. He would find out tomorrow anyway.
Larissa dropped him off at his home and left. Ning returned to his apartment and prepared some noodles to eat before going to bed. As he lay on his bed, he thought about what he would have to do next and how long he would have to do it for.
He had more or less decided that he would have to remain in his world for 5 years at the very least. If after that he still wished to live here or wanted or had to stay for some other reason, he could extend his contract. Otherwise, 5 years would be plenty.
Without other thoughts occupying his mind, he quickly found himself drifting off. The next time he opened his eyes, it was already dawn.
Ning got up, showered, and poured himself some cereal while he watched what was on TV. The news channel that continuously broadcasted the various happenings regarding heroes was showing some news about some dwarves frozen in ice, with only their heads stuck out.
The image of a woman in a pale blue robe was on the side, her face covered in a thin white veil that only had an opening for her piercing blue eyes. The number 1 hero of the city, Frostveil, had done some work yesterday it seemed.
Ning watched the news for some time, the broadcast showing one clip after another, until there was something that caught his attention.
“We have news that there may yet be a new hero on the same tier as Frostveil or Shieldheart,” the newscaster said. “I know from a trusted source that someone has not only registered with an incredible power but has also already joined a Hero Agency. So you will start seeing him soon. Yes, him. It’s a man. We cannot divulge more information, but be on the lookout for a new superhero who may soon take the spot of Number 1.”
Ning smiled slightly, watching the newscasters speculate who he was or what his power was. It was good that they seemed not to know anything. Given that the Star Hero Agency had complete understanding of what his power was, these leakers would have to be from the other agencies who had known about his rank but not his powers.
The news moved on to other heroes, and after a while, he heard his phone ring. Larissa was there.
Ning left his apartment and got into her van. “So, where are we going?” he asked.
“To the Clairvoyant,” she said. “It’s about 15 minutes from here.”
“I don’t know any clairvoyant. Is she like an informant of yours, or is she more well-known?” Ning asked.
Larissa looked toward him for a moment. “She’s… neither. She’s someone I know, that many people know as well, just not what she does,” she said. “You’ll find out soon.”
Ning looked forward to it.
After a while, the van stopped by an inconspicuous house and they got off.
“Good,” Larissa said. “There’s no line just yet. We’re early.”
“Line?” Ning asked. “For what?”
“Astrology,” Larissa said. “Reading palm prints, cards, that sort of thing.”
Ning’s eyes narrowed. “And we’re getting her help, why?”
Larissa didn’t answer. She walked over to a door and was about to knock when the door opened.
“Larissa~!” a voice came from a woman in a pink dress, the most girly outfit Ning could imagine. She looked more like a daddy’s girl than a fortune teller. “I was expecting you.”
“Hello, Keira. How have you been?”
“Great! Great!” Keira said. “I was so happy when the birds told me you were coming. I could hardly sleep.”
Larissa gave an awkward smile. “May we come in?”
“Of course,” she said, moving aside. Her eyes fell on Ning. “Funny. The birds only spoke of you being alone.”
“This is my coworker, Valen,” Larissa said.
Ning gave a slight bow in greeting.
“I see,” Keira said, walking away. “How is your father doing?”
“He’s dead, Keira.”
“Really? That’s so sad.”
“You said the same thing the last three times I was here.”
“You’ve been here before?” Keira asked with a curious look. “I can’t tell what is real and what is not anymore.”
Ning watched the woman with a curious look. She looked human for the most part, but something about her eyes didn’t seem right. It was like looking into the eyes of a zombie.
Keira was a beautiful woman, maybe in her late 20s, with a head full of light brown hair, teetering on becoming a dirty blonde. Such a beauty would be appreciated by anyone anywhere, but what she did might have the opposite effect.
Keira went around a round table with a crystal ball at the center—because why not? There were some flowers in a vase to her left and a stack of cards to her right. Ning wondered if they were tarot cards. Would those exist here?
There were also some dice and whatnot scattered around.
“Would you like me to look at your future?” Keira asked.
“No, I don’t have the time for that,” Larissa said. “I need some help with finding a woman. A vampire that has killed someone.”
“Oh, death. Snuffed life. Nasty business. Bad, bad vampire.” Keira seemed to speak whatever came to her mind.
Larissa brought out the picture of the woman, showing it to her. “We need to know where she is. What she’s doing.”
Keira looked at the picture, her fingers slowly moving around the outline. Her eyes seemed to slowly get lost in those. “Cold. Dark place. Damp. Water moving. Hungry. Want more food. Human. Have to hunt. Have to find. Have to kill. Ordered. Need to live.”
Her eyes slowly turned toward Ning, her fingers slowly raising to point.
“Only one way to live. She must kill him.”
