Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1848: Transformation

Chapter 1848: Transformation
Ning arrived at the rooftop in a flash and saw Larissa struggling against the vampire woman, both of them struggling over the gun. Larissa wasn’t weak at all, having Imp-blood flowing through her veins, but that was somehow being dwarfed by the vampire.
Vampires had superior strength to humans, but not to Infernals or Imps, so this strength was quite abnormal, likely something given to her by Tritus. Constellations loved making apostles no matter where they were.
As the two struggled with the gun, it triggered again, this time the bullet shooting directly at Ning.
The bullet struck him in the chest, causing Larissa to gasp in horror, loosening her grip. The vampire got the upper hand and pulled the gun away, but she too was a little distracted by Ning being shot.
She hadn’t expected the task to be so easy.
Of course, it was never that easy.
Ning felt at his chest, a look of shock and pain filling his face, only to get rid of the facade immediately as a grin filled it instead.
The woman didn’t realize what was happening, but she knew better than to stand still. She pointed the gun toward Larissa, intending to take her hostage, but before she could, Ning appeared next to her and pulled the gun away from her palm.
The gun came loose immediately, and Ning tossed it aside. “That’s all you’ll be doing tonight,” he said as the distant sirens filled his ears. “The firefighters and cops should be filling this area soon, so I will need to be there to answer a few questions. As such, I won’t delay it any further. Either give me the answer I want, or else…”
Ning let the unspoken be the threat.
The woman’s eyes narrowed in hatred, her fangs slowly showing through her grimacing face.
“Never!” she snarled.
Ning shrugged. “If that’s what you want.”
“Lord Tritus! I beg of you to hear my plea,” she shouted. “I need your power!”
A distant thunder sounded right then, a peal of laughter echoing all throughout. Ning tried to focus on the sound, but it was clear there was no origin to it. It just existed.
’He’s not here, is he?’ Ning asked.
<Not in person>
Ning’s attention was pulled back toward the woman as something started happening to her. Larissa pulled away from her, moving toward Ning while pointing her gun toward this… thing that stood before her.
As she watched, her eyes went wide in horror.
The female vampire’s nails had sharpened into long claws, her fangs growing larger. Her eyes glowed brighter than ever too. Aside from changes to what had already existed on her, something else appeared as well.
Two sharp horns jutted out of the woman’s forehead, curving slightly. Small bat wings appeared on her back, as if they could allow her to fly. What’s more, a tail appeared from her back, with a sharp, triangular shape at the end of it.
Larissa stepped back. “She… she’s an Imp?” she asked, surprised.
“More like a succubus, I’d say,” Ning said. The woman was now just a pitchfork away from looking like the poster child of devils.
’Damn constellation!’ Ning thought. ’Why are they so fascinated with demons and devils?’
<It is the natural form human-like bodies tend to take when introduced to any corrupted form of energy>
Ning had asked a rhetorical question, but he was happy to have received an answer for it. That did bring up another question, which he didn’t have time for now.
With Larissa surprised to see what should’ve been her race appearing from a vampire, all manners of confusion had to be filling her head. Ning grabbed her gun before she could shoot in her confusion, placing it back in her holster.
“You should take a step back,” Ning said. “Things might get a little dangerous.”
“What… what are you going to do to her?” Larissa asked.
“Well, I was going to just ask some questions, but it is possible that she won’t be cooperative at all anymore. Not that I had any hope of getting it earlier anyway.”
The transformed woman stood there, doing nothing but sporting a wide grin on her face. “Do you think you’re strong enough to defeat me now that Tritus himself has given me this glorious transformation?”
Ning chuckled. “Yes. I plan to find your lord to bring him to justice for all that he’s done to the people of this world, so you won’t be a problem at all.”
His smile vanished suddenly, and he turned around to see Larissa holding the gun to his head.
“What are you doing?” he asked.
“You will not harm her,” Larissa said.
“Huh? Is this because she’s a succubus now? She’s not a real—”
“You will not hurt Lady Talia!” Larissa shouted and shot Ning. The gunshot rang out loud and then once again. He had been shot twice.
Ning watched in shock at the fact that Larissa had shot him.
“How did you know her name was Talia?” he asked. “Are you working tog— no.”
Ning turned back toward the woman. “Your manipulation powers are stronger now,” he said. “Does your transformation affect it?”
“My powers have multiplied, their restrictions gone,” the woman said. “All who lust over my body will have their minds warped to love me and kill anyone who stands in my way.”
“Hmm,” Ning mused, turning toward Larissa. “I think that means you’re at least partly bi. Not enough to have been affected earlier, but surely now.”
“And what about you?” the succubus asked him, confused. “Why are you not affected?”
“Because I am happily married, thank you.”
“Even married, you cannot help but lust over my—”
“Over your what? Tail? Your claws? You look like an animal. You looked prettier when you were just a vampire.”
Those words were enough to tick off the new succubus, causing her to instantly attack. Her body appeared before Ning, long nails swiping at him as he was flung from the roof straight into the burning building on the other side.
