Reincarnated as an Energy with a System - Chapter 1849: Debut

Chapter 1849: Debut
Ning pulled himself out of his burning apartment, anger rising through him. “Damn woman! Just because I wanted to check her strength, she threw me all the way here.”
He wasn’t hurt. His body was strong. But without a strong foundation, even a tower could be toppled. While his body was indestructible, it wasn’t immovable.
Still, that shouldn’t have been without consequences.
He could hear the wailing screams of his attacker, her fingers likely having been broken from the single attack. Attacking him was no different than attacking a solid block of metal with her full force. The only one losing was herself.
He jumped from the burning building and arrived back at the rooftop. “You sure pack a punch, huh?” he said, his left hand grabbing Larissa by the wrist before she could shoot again.
“I’m sorry, but I’m done hearing loud noises today,” he said, pulling the gun out of her fingers and dismantling it with a swift motion. The metal pieces clattered on the floor, and Ning turned his attention back toward the succubus.
“Do you know how men usually hold back when they’re fighting women? They never give it their all because society creates an inherent misogyny in most men that makes them think a woman is weaker than them, a thing to be protected, someone who can’t handle the same pain a man can,” Ning said.
The succubus frowned, confused by the sudden change of topic.
“So what? You’re saying you’re holding back?” she asked, a little frustrated.
“No, no,” Ning said. “Quite the opposite, actually. I try to correct myself each time and make sure I’m not holding back even when fighting a woman.”
He paused for a moment before continuing. “Only… I tend to over-correct at times, so I tend to bring out more of my strength when against women. And you, my friend, are an evil person, so I will make sure to punch extra hard.”
The woman paled.
Ning added a bit more. “That is all to say that you have one chance to give me the information I want. If you don’t… well, let’s just say your fortune-teller isn’t a fraud.”
The woman had no plan on waiting any longer. She dashed toward Ning, her other hand turning into a fist as she punched him in the chest. Only, this time, Ning braced himself for the attack.
Bones crunched from the woman’s fist, shrapnel of it jutting out of the flesh. The woman immediately fell into a puddle of pain and cries as the bloody mess that was her fist brought her more pain than anything else in the entire world.
Ning clicked his tongue. “Should’ve chosen option number one, Talia.”
The succubus looked up, a look of pure fear filling her face. For the first time today, there was no other emotion in her face except fear for her life and a burning desire to run away from this place as soon as she could.
Her wings flapped, pulling her up, and within seconds she was off, flying into the sky to leave the city.
Ning watched her leave and turned toward Larissa behind him. The woman sat in fear and confusion, not entirely sure what she was supposed to be doing there.
Ning took off his tattered shirt and wrapped it around Larissa tight enough so that she could do no self-harm if that was a possibility upon his departure. Once done, Ning turned around, staring into the distance where the vampire had turned into nothing but a speck in the moonlight.
He looked to his right where the sirens had stopped, the firefighters unable to do their job with the many people who were unconscious on the ground.
“Oh, I should help them,” he thought, turning back toward the woman. “I suppose I should make this quick then.”
Ning leapt from the roof and turned into a bat, flying through the city at night. He moved so fast that the flashing lights of the city below him were no more than just that—flashing lights.
His speed left behind audible booms as he arrived next to the flying succubus within moments. He arrived before her right as the two of them were atop a large river at the edge of the city.
His face turned into a grin as he watched the horrified look on the woman’s face.
“Miss me?”
“AARGH!” the woman shouted, coming at him with all that she had, but Ning had no intention of playing this game anymore. He already knew this woman was guilty of a lot of crimes, one of which was the centaur that was killed in the alleyway last night.
For that alone, the system would let him kill her, and he did.
Ning flipped around her body as he dodged her charge and balled his hand into a fist before punching down. His fist struck her face, the air between them compressed and ignited into a bright flash of light that turned into an explosion.
A massive boom shook the city, both with sound and tremors. Ning’s punch was so strong that it left a gaping hole in the river below that took some time to fill back up again.
Windows shattered in the nearby houses, cars burst into alarms. Panic filled the streets for a moment as people wondered if some sort of bomb had gone off.
Ning stood there with a slight frown on his face. The strength he was limited to currently was the same strength he had cut himself off at during the test. This was the strength that had given him Rank 9.
So, in a way, today was the debut of himself and his power.
While he hadn’t officially started his work as a superhero in this town, when history was written, it would mention this day.
And nowhere in those history books would there be anything about the succubus he had fought, for his punch had disintegrated her body completely.
The vampire-turned-succubus was now beyond dead.
