Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 1160 - 1160: Coming Storm

The Veiled Legend lifted his spear to block Evan’s punch, but just as he did, two magic circles appeared above and below him, each stretching more than 100 metres across. Pillars of light erupted from the twelve focal points of the circle, and Evan charged in again, attacking him continuously to stop him from breaking the light pillars.
“Life Energy Draining Prison!”
Eliza’s voice rang out, and a wave of exhaustion flooded his body as his life essence was sucked into the cage of light surrounding him, rapidly draining his vitality.
He tried to stomp the ground to destroy the circle, but Evan kicked his leg aside before it could touch down, then followed with a punch to his shoulder that threw him off balance and sent him crashing to the ground.
“Haa!!”
The Demonic Human roared, releasing a wild burst of energy that shattered the ground beneath him, sending waves of sand crashing forward and breaking apart Eliza’s LODP before slamming into the barriers she raised to block it.
The impact fractured her barrier, but Evan teleported behind her and pulled her away before it completely collapsed, reappearing several metres to their opponent’s left as he set her down.
The man immediately turned toward them, his eyes narrowing as he gripped his spear and activated his Unique Skill.
Seeing this, Evan released Eliza and moved to stand beside her, rolling his shoulders as he spoke.
“Now, then, my dear. Our unfortunate separation has impaired our cooperation.”
He took a stance with his fists held up, glancing at Eliza with a smile as he spoke.
“Let’s get our synergy back, shall we?”
Eliza didn’t reply. She simply recalled the four spears floating behind her in her Combat Mode, lowering her spear-tipped staff toward their opponent with a faint smile on her face.
◇ ◇ ◇
At the same time, the others were clashing with the Fifth Division Squad Leaders and their contracted demon, outnumbered but far from outmatched.
Bianca leapt aside to evade the beam of demonic energy that struck the ground where she had been standing, her left hand extending to create a mirror that reflected the next beam back toward another demon.
She lifted her right hand, her sleeve slipping slightly to reveal a polished glass bracelet with a small mirror the size of a watch. With a tap, it glowed faintly brown, and after a brief flash, a ceremonial-looking blade emerged from the mirror.
The one-handed sword was finely adorned, resembling something a noblewoman would use in a knighting ceremony rather than a weapon meant for combat.
However, the moment Bianca channelled magic power into it and swung, the sheath vanished and the blade shattered into a stream of glass that lashed out like a whip, coiling around the legs of one of the airborne demons.
She pulled on the sword, dragging them down to the ground before pulling it back and swinging it toward another airborne target.
Her left hand conjured several magic circles, and shattered fragments of glass materialised in the air, raining down upon the fallen demons and forcing them to roll across the ground to avoid the deadly shards.
Just as the first one managed to stand, the sand beneath his feet heated and turned to glass, trapping him in place, and the second he took to try to free himself was all Nadarus needed to appear from the side with his great sword raised high.
**BOOOM!!
The demonic great sword crashed down with tremendous force, cleaving the demon cleanly from head to toe, and Nadarus immediately lifted it overhead, just in time for Leviah to land on its flat side.
“Cannon Sister!”
Nadarus shouted with a laugh as he swung his blade, the motion launching Leviah forward faster than a bullet, straight toward a trio of demons attempting to scatter to avoid Roselia’s white flames.
She extended her hand and summoned her spear, shooting past the trio and landing beside Roselia before spinning the weapon to flick off the blood on its tip as the three demons fell with holes in their heads.
“You dare steal my kills?” Roselia snapped, her eyes narrowing.
“Well, someone was taking too long to finish them off,” Leviah replied, casting her a sideways glance as she raised her spear and infused it with demonic energy.
Just when it seemed like both of them were about to ignore their enemies and start fighting each other, Nadarus stepped between them with his sword raised.
“Ladies, please. Not now.”
Both turned to him at once, eyebrows raised as they spoke in unison.
“What do you take me for?” “You think I’d reduce myself to her level?”
As they spoke, their weapons moved in tandem, Roselia’s sword releasing a slash of white flames that turned black mid-air, slicing through the hastily conjured shields of two Squad Leaders and blasting them backwards as fire engulfed them, while Leviah’s spear unleashed a bolt of red lightning that shot out and pierced the heart of another Demonic Human.
The two women immediately glared at each other afterwards, and seeing this, Bianca couldn’t help but worry.
‘Is this party going to be okay…?’
She knew Leviah and Roselia didn’t exactly get along, but she hadn’t thought they’d start bickering even in the middle of a fight.
Just as that thought crossed her mind, three Demonic Humans rushed at her from behind, all Senior Members who had already assumed their Demonic Fusion modes and unleashed their strongest attacks against her.
One swung a sword wreathed in greenish demonic flames, another brought down a warhammer coated in jagged stone, and the third held a ball of demonic energy above their heads, which they slammed down.
In response, celestial energy flowed into Bianca’s eyes, the symbol within them glowing as she turned and looked toward them.
‘Vitric Archon.’
Celestial energy rapidly condensed in front of her, creating a convex pane of glass in the air just in time to meet their descending attacks.
**KABOOOM!!!
The explosion erupted in a blinding flash, accompanied by a deafening roar, shards of glass and waves of celestial energy scattering in every direction.
Half of the magic, demonic energy, and physical kinetic energy from the three Demonic Humans’ attacks instantly rebounded, crashing back into them with unstoppable force.
They were hurled violently into the air, bodies spinning uncontrollably as the backlash from their own attacks sent them careening dozens of metres away.
As they crashed into the ground, a stream of shattered glass shot out from the smoke of the blast, wrapping around the legs of one of them and lifting them into the air just before a barrage of razor-sharp glass shards pierced through their body, riddling them with holes and sending them to the afterlife.
Bianca calmly stepped out of the blast zone unscathed, pulling back her whip sword with the intent to strike again when Evan’s voice echoed.
“Guys! Their squads are here! We gotta go!”
She turned at the sound of his voice and saw that the Level 400+ Squad Members had caught up, already launching attacks from a distance.
Raising her left hand, she conjured a glass barrier to block the incoming strikes, not bothering to reflect them as she glanced toward the direction Evan was now running.
‘Just what is he plotting?’
Bianca was certain Evan had an ulterior motive for holding them back from wiping out the Demonic Hand members, despite their clear combat power advantage.
Each of those Squads had roughly 100 members, but the majority were around Level 300 and 400, with barely a dozen exceeding Level 500. Many had also been injured when Evan broke open the dimensional realm.
The only real threats were the Level 600 Squad Leaders, and Roselia’s flames had already left two of them severely wounded.
‘That Demon of Envy is over Level 700. If she fights alongside her siblings, they can easily deal with the Squad Leaders and then focus on the rest.
Evan himself could instantly kill the one he’s fighting, not to mention the grunts, so why?’
As those thoughts ran through her mind, the Deadly Sin Siblings turned and dashed after Evan and Eliza, ignoring the approaching enemies, forcing Bianca to retreat as well, since she couldn’t possibly handle several opponents on her level while being swarmed by over a hundred weaker ones.
As they raced toward the ancient city ruins with the Demonic Hand members close behind, Bianca increased her speed to catch up to Evan and demand an explanation.
“Why are you trying to lure them to those ruins? What are you planning?”
“Hmm? Oh, I just wanted to—oh, shit!”
Evan cursed mid-sentence as Danger Sense activated, and he glanced upward to see a rain of spears descending from the sky with tremendous force.
“Hydra.”
The calm command came not from Evan but from Leviah, as demonic energy burst from her body and created six serpentine dragons that roared toward the sky and unleashed dark red acid breaths that dissolved the descending earth-law energy spears.
Evan, who had been preparing to activate his own skill, blinked before turning to Leviah and muttering.
“Right. I forgot you were the one I got that skill from.”
He turned his eyes forward again, catching sight of the target ruins as he shouted.
“Speed up, everyone. Target’s up ahead.”
With that, he kicked off the ground and dashed forward, completely forgetting to explain his intentions to Bianca as he raced toward the ghost town.
The Demonic Hand members charged after them, their leader immediately ordering the remaining Squad Leaders to use their Demon Fusions and stay on high alert.
“There’s a chance he’s laid traps for us in those ruins. Assume Formation 3 and move in!”
The Veiled Legend barked his command as he rushed ahead, while the others instantly assumed a circular all-around defensive formation, keeping watch in every direction to ensure they weren’t ambushed from any side while advancing toward the ruined city centre.
However, they didn’t need to go far into the city before arriving at a small square where a fountain that had once been part of its oasis system stood.
Sitting atop the broken fountain was Evan, waving at them with a bright smile on his face, his other companions nowhere to be seen.
The Veiled Legend slowed his pace, spreading his demonic energy across the area to search for the Deadly Sin siblings.
“Don’t be so wary. I didn’t set any traps, okay? I’ve never been here in my life, after all,” Evan said with a shrug, but the man ignored him and gave a hand signal to his subordinates behind him, directing them to spread out in the directions he indicated.
Evan noticed this but didn’t comment, continuing to speak as if he wasn’t being surrounded.
“I have a question, you see? What’s the worst possible combination of disasters that someone in a desert can ever encounter?”
Magic power flowed from Evan’s dragon heart into his leg as he lifted it, an evil grin spreading across his face while he answered his own question.
“Answer: Earthquake + Sandstorm!”
