Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 1179 - 1179: Dimension Gate

At the same time that the failed demonic humans were released, a unit of foreign High-Rank demons was deployed to attack the Coalition Army’s forces from the left flank, aiming to eliminate both combatants and medics.
But before they could make contact, loud roars echoed across the land as a fleet of dragons sped across the skies from the south, unleashing blazing breaths on the demons beneath them.
The Dragons of Dragondune had arrived, led by the Elder Dragon Ciarrucrorth, who stood atop another Legendary Level dragon while in humanoid form.
A Sovereign Level existence entering the battle this early was surprising to most, but the Demonic Hand had prepared for this possibility.
Deram locked eyes with the Elder Dragon in the skies, and without looking away, he spoke into the communication device hanging from his right ear.
“Go.”
Two streaks of light shot out from the temporary camp building behind him, colliding in the air with a burst of demonic and law energy, and emerging from the burst was the Demonic-Fused figure of a Senior Member not of the Fifth, Sixth, or Seventh Divisions, but of the Second.
Ciarrucrorth immediately leapt off the dragon she’d been standing on and dispelled her polymorphing magic, returning to her full 25-metre-long draconic body as she dashed forward to meet the charge of the Second Division Senior Member.
**BOOM!!!
The first Sovereign-level clash of the day sent a powerful shockwave sweeping across the land, knocking every airborne combatant within a dozen kilometres out of the sky and hurling thousands on the ground to the floor.
Ciarrucrorth immediately polymorphed to her humanoid form, teleporting behind her opponent and grabbing them by the tail before spinning and flinging them high into the air.
She returned to her dragon form and unleashed a full-powered breath, though her target managed to cross their arms over their chest and conjure a shield to block the beam of black law energy.
Even so, the force knocked them even higher into the sky, which was exactly what Ciarrucrorth wanted, and without any hesitation, she charged after them, taking their battle higher into the air and away from the ground where even one clash would result in casualties on both sides.
The Legends fighting on or close to the ground split the upper layer of the planet’s crust with almost every attack, casualties rising every minute from both direct clashes and collateral damage as the battle dragged on.
Blood poured onto the ground, feeding the World Formation, and the extracted energy was further amplified by Deram’s mere presence.
The lion beastman remained still at the centre, holding his magic staff while watching the unfolding battles without a single word.
Creating the Dimensional Rift required time and energy, and this battle was providing both for Deram, so all he had to do was watch and wait for the right moment.
In regions where battles had completely carved out the earth, and all sands had been blown away from the area, marks began to surface on the ground, revealing faint crimson patterns that no one noticed.
In the heat of the battle, no one noticed what was occurring beneath their feet, unless, of course, they already knew of it beforehand and were paying close attention, watching the changes in the land that appeared each time blood spilt onto the ground.
Deram looked down at the ground, then lifted his gaze to the sky, observing the battle between Sovereigns above without a single word.
◇ ◇ ◇
Evan silently watched the battle unfolding in the sky, then lowered his gaze to the ground beneath his feet, taking note of the thickness of the crimson marks appearing across the land.
Pressing a finger to his ear, he issued orders to a unit in one corner of the Wild Lands, then unfurled his wings and took off toward another region, flying faster than anything on the battlefield could detect.
Soon, he reached the area where the Deadly Sin Siblings were going wild, the enormous Avatars of Pride and Greed obliterating scores of failed demonic humans, while the Avatars of Sloth and Envy clashed with foreign High-Rank demons.
Emrel, of course, had no choice but to join the battle, and his presence made things easier for the Deadly Sins, not only boosting their Series Skill Resonance but also contributing his idiosyncrasy and weapon.
Emrel’s Indolent Chronomancy, his ability to slow time, and his Shield made him the best support the attack-focused Leviah could possibly have.
He slowed both their enemies and their attacks, while Leviah used her speed and wide arsenal of skills to consign them to the afterlife.
All the Deadly Sins had one attribute or parameter where they excelled more than the others.
Roselia had the most raw attack power, Nadarus carried pure physical strength, Leviah was the fastest, and Emrel was the tank with the greatest defensive power.
He blocked attacks that would’ve taken down several Level 700s with little effort, then stole the ‘Durability’ of his targets to make them more vulnerable to attacks from his siblings.
After inspecting that region, Evan was about to move to the next when the lookouts he’d assigned to monitor Deram sent a message.
[Lord Evan! He moved!]
“…”
Evan froze in his tracks, pausing in the air and turning around, before shooting up into the sky to activate Lethe out of sight, then diving back down toward the centre of the battlefield.
◇ ◇ ◇
Deram raised his magic staff, the runes inscribed on it glowing as he unleashed his magic power for the world around him to perceive.
Expressions darkened, and eyes widened in shock at the pressure he released, which was only a few levels weaker than that of the Elder Dragon Ciarrucrorth.
“Intermediate Sovereign!? That’s not what Evan said…!”
Laurene frowned as her Mystic Eyes of Truth perceived Deram’s real Existence Level, and her words, echoing in the ears of all those connected to the communication network, overturned every estimation of Deram’s power.
Evan had said that Deram and Xolgren fusing would boost them up to the level of Dragondune’s Master because of Xolgren’s ability to fuse with his summons as well, so they’d estimated that on his own, Deram was an Inferior Sovereign at best.
Besides, the Demonic Hand’s Divisions had been following a trend.
The Executives were usually more powerful the higher the Division, and Evan had said that the Fourth Finger was a Superior Legend, which would have anyone assume that the Fifth Finger was meant to be weaker than that.
But what Evan had also said was that Deram was a former student of the Demonic Hand’s Strongest Entity. He’d just never mentioned that this came with a certain level of nonstandard behaviour.
Deram, unaware of the shock of the Heroes at the revelation of his strength, infused magic power into his staff and activated several skills, gathering the ambient spatial law energy.
A purple three-dimensional cylindrical magic circle with multiple concentric and overlapping layers appeared with him in the centre.
Several rings hovered above one another, resembling a stack of glowing discs, each layer densely covered in intricate glowing runes, glyphs, and symbols arranged in circular patterns, creating complex geometric designs within the rings.
[ATTACK HIM! DON’T LET HIM COMPLETE THAT MAGIC!!!]
Lloris’ order echoed through every communication channel, with Legends unleashing their strongest ranged attacks towards the circle, and even one of the Sovereigns of Tarse, the powerhouses that cemented the nation’s position as a MAJOR World Power, took action.
Watching all of this from above the clouds, Evan shook his head and muttered.
“It’s futile.”
His words echoed in the ears of all his companions and collaborators in the same instant that a man wearing an all-white three-piece suit with a matching fedora, black tie, and white overcoat jumped down from a portal that appeared in the sky, landing in front of Deram’s magic circle and spreading his arms wide.
Demonic energy burst out from his body, and with a wide grin, he spoke.
“Target Selection.”
In his left eye’s vision, boxes appeared around all the incoming projectiles, and then with a loud whirring sound that echoed across the land, a blue beam of demonic energy ripped through the air from the right, piercing all the attacks and detonating them in the sky.
The massive cloud of smoke and flames from the concurrent explosions didn’t penetrate the magic circle behind him or harm its caster, but the echoing sound and flash of failure immediately darkened the expressions of the higher ups of the Coalition Army, after all, the man in the white suit was the one person they’d been briefed about as the biggest ‘pain in the behind’ for the operation.
“Arise, my pets. It’s time to play.”
By the command of the Agriker demon, several dozen magic circles appeared in the air, and charging out of them were large monsters of every kind.
Giant 10-metre-tall gorillas, bipedal crocodiles with mouthlines reaching down to their shoulders, demonic dragons and drakes, and even armoured golems and undead Death Knights all answered the summoner’s call.
Watching from above, Evan placed his hand on his ear and spoke.
“Veiled Legends Group 2. You’re up. Put those Astral Modulators I gave you to good use. Grand Holy Knights, handle the Dark Knights. Beast Keepers, deal with the monsters.”
As Evan gave his orders, Xolgren clapped once, then raised his left hand, cupping it over his left eye and looking through the gap, right at one of the airborne Tarse Legendries.
“Target Selection.”
At his words, the ground rumbled, and emerging from a giant dune in the distance was a massive hybrid of flesh and steel, towering over 100 metres tall.
Its upper body resembled a humanoid’s, its torso a mass of entangled wires and mechanical tentacles, crowned by a metallic skull with a single dark red eye etched with circuit patterns.
Flanking its torso were two heavily armoured, white and gold mechanical arms, one equipped with a clamp and the other with a cannon, which it raised and aimed at the ‘target’ Xolgren had designated.
The same loud whirring sound as before echoed across the land, lightning law energy mixing with demonic energy before firing out as a beam that tore through the air straight toward the target.
The Legend realised too late that they were being targeted, and the attack would have erased every trace of them from the surface of the planet if space hadn’t distorted under immense gravitational pressure, causing the beam to warp off in the wrong direction and shoot into the sky.
The one responsible, the brown-haired lion beastman relative of the Beast Kingdom’s ruler, Dandeyr, condensed gravity law energy to try and crush the Bio-Mechanical Abomination, but the creature’s red eye glowed brightly as it unleashed a burst of law energy to counter him, then locked onto him and began charging its arm cannon.
“Dandeyr, lead that thing out of here,” Evan said, immediately shifting his gaze toward Deram, just in time to see the magic circles around him triple in size and width, their glow intensifying as the Fifth Finger spun his staff through the air and slammed its other end into the ground.
“WORLD MAGIC!”
Several concentric circles at the top of the cylindrical structure appeared and expanded across the sky, drawing in enormous amounts of spatial law energy as Deram declared.
“SPELL NUMBER 7: DIMENSION GATE!!!”
The gathered spatial law energy descended down the cylindrical tube of the magic circle, striking the ground behind Deram like lightning and tearing a rift in the fabric of space-time.
Evan remained calm even at the sight, and before anyone on the communication network could speak, he said,
“Everything’s going as expected so far. He’s cast the spell, yes, but connecting the spatial channel to Gozon will take time due to the immense physical distance.”
In other words, they had to destroy the magic circle before that time ran out, or at least that’s what they concluded from Evan’s words.
As Evan spoke, the magic circle flattened into a 2D disc beneath Deram’s feet, drawing in ambient magic and channelling it toward the small, barely noticeable horizontal gap in the vertically metre-long line in space behind him.
The energy from the hotspot directly under the magic circle was absorbed rapidly, as was the energy of the World Formation, which had collected the blood of everyone who’d fallen in battle, all slowly widening the rift in space and creating a spatial channel from Aidos to Gozon.
