Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 1206 - 1206: Betrayal's Fury [Monthly Bonus 2]

💔
Kirone could not believe what she was seeing.
She had rushed here with her thoughts still spiralling from the shock of everything that had happened in the past few minutes, a part of her clinging desperately to denial, refusing to accept the reality she had already sensed and instead trying to disprove the theory born purely from circumstantial evidence, compelled by the need to see it with her own eyes and confirm that the fear clawing at her heart was unfounded.
But the instant Kirone stepped inside and saw the blood dripping onto the floor from Mallory’s body, from the wound torn into her right side in the exact same place Kirone had attacked the one responsible for the deaths of those she held dear, her thoughts collapsed entirely, and her mind went completely blank.
🥀
Mallory was equal parts confused and wary.
The confusion came from still trying to process the sequence of events that had just occurred and from not understanding why Kirone’s gaze seemed… strange.
The wariness was an instinctive reaction to facing the person whose power was currently wreaking havoc within her body.
Why did Kirone look betrayed? Shouldn’t she be the one wearing that expression?
Mallory’s thoughts weren’t properly aligning, the lingering pain in her side and the torment in her soul scrambling her focus.
Still, she could tell that Kirone wasn’t here for an explanation and wasn’t here to offer any help, and that realisation sent a fresh spike of tension through her body.
🥀💔
Silence reigned supreme between the two women.
Finally, Kirone moved first, a single tear sliding down her cheek, her expression one of betrayal as she whispered, “Why?”
“Why…what?” Mallory replied, her voice filled with confusion. “I should be the one asking you that.”
Kirone blinked, stunned, unable to process the words immediately.
And before Mallory could say anything further, Kirone’s simmering rage erupted.
“After everything that just happened, you have the audacity to ask me that?!” she snapped, closing the distance in an instant and grabbing Mallory by the collar.
Frowning, Mallory pushed back with all the strength she could muster, shouting, “All that just happened? Audacity? What the hell are you even talking about?”
Kirone raised her hand, condensing spatial and temporal law energies and divinity into a brown spear, a mocking expression crossing her face.
“Forgetting so soon? How about I jog your memory?” she taunted.
Before she could launch it, Mallory extended her hand, golden lightning erupting from her fingertips and shattering the spear before it could leave Kirone’s grasp.
“Have you lost your goddamn mind?!” she shouted.
Kirone snapped back instantly, “Says the one who made me fucking lose it!”
With that, she charged at Mallory, slamming her through several walls before finally throwing her against the dimension’s barrier.
Mallory pushed back with all her strength, lightning bursting from her body as she closed the distance to grab Kirone and slam her into the ground with enough force to leave a crater.
“You come in he—!” Mallory began, but her words were cut off as Kirone kicked her side, hitting the wound she had only just patched.
Grunting in pain, Mallory staggered back, and Kirone rose, shoving her and slamming her back down again.
Tears streaming down her face, Kirone shouted with a cracked voice, “WHY?!”
She lifted Mallory again and immediately slammed her back down as she screamed, “WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?!”
Once more, she raised Mallory’s body, but her arms lost strength as she cried, her voice choking through tears.
“Why will… Why? Mum… Dad…”
As Kirone’s tears fell over her, Mallory’s expression shifted from pain to confusion, then shock, and finally to dawning realisation.
She remembered sensing several Race Ruler Authorities deactivating earlier, but due to her soul damage, her own Authority wasn’t functioning properly, leaving her unable to determine exactly who had lost their Authorities or if she knew them.
But Kirone’s reaction just now hinted at something horrifying, something Mallory refused to believe.
“What…the hell…happened?”
It was clear there was more to the situation than she understood, with crucial facts missing for both of them.
Mallory’s genuine confusion showed on her face, and as Kirone met her eyes, her expression passed through several stages before she went silent, tears pausing momentarily while her mind raced at miles per nanosecond, her thoughts temporally accelerated.
Finally, Kirone clenched her fists, rage bubbling from the depths of her heart.
“Do you really think you can fool me, of all people, with that fake confused act?!” she screamed.
Faster than Mallory could react, Kirone grabbed her and shot upward, breaking through the roof of the building, the clouds, and finally the dimension’s barrier, shattering it and entering interstellar space.
Mallory fought Kirone’s grip, but as she pushed her away, Kirone grabbed her hand, spun her with time-accelerated speed, and flung her down toward the planet whose atmosphere they had just escaped.
Though Mallory managed to flip mid-fall and regain her balance, Kirone was already beside her, divinity erupting in furious waves as she screamed in her True Voice, |How could you?!|
Her fist collided with Mallory’s crossed arms, sending the black-haired goddess spinning through space.
Kirone skipped through space, appearing before her and delivering another full-powered punch.
Mallory met it with a giant palm construct of golden lightning, but Kirone twisted her fist on impact, tearing space itself and shattering the arm of Mallory’s Tempest Avatar.
Faster than Mallory could recreate it, Kirone teleported behind her, grabbed her, and flung her in a random direction.
Mallory slammed against the surface of a nearby moon, blood spilling from her wound, but she had no time to address it as Kirone appeared above her, spear thrusting downward, forcing Mallory to summon her sword and swing it upward to block, the clash releasing a shockwave that reduced the moon behind Kirone to fine dust.
Golden and brown divinities collided, rolling forward like tidal waves, pressing against each other, but eventually, the wounded Mallory’s golden divinity began yielding to Kirone’s brown divinity.
She unleashed lightning strikes and energy beams of all conventional elements, but Kirone simply created wormholes to absorb them all, then condensed the energy and fired it back at Mallory in a single immense blast.
Mallory swung her sword to split the blast apart, charging to meet Kirone’s descending spear with her ascending blade, the two colliding again with an immense shockwave.
The two goddesses collided again and again, exchanging thousands upon thousands of attacks in mere seconds, shockwaves obliterating all nearby celestial bodies without direct contact.
Suddenly, Kirone teleported behind Mallory, and as Mallory turned to slash at her, Kirone clenched her fists and punched forward.
Cosmic energy erupted into a spatial storm, tearing the fabric of space apart and knocking Mallory back, sending her tumbling toward a crack in space.
She shot out the other side, slamming onto the surface of an unknown icy planet, and Kirone appeared above her, spear drawn back, the weapon engulfed in divinity like roaring fire.
Mallory coated her sword in golden lightning and leapt to meet the descending spear, but she hadn’t risen more than a few metres above the planet’s surface when the ground beneath her cracked violently, and thick green branches shot up, wrapping around her arms and restraining her mid-leap.
At the same time, spatial gates opened directly in front of Kirone, and with the combined Authorities of several god Kings, multiple weapons intercepted her spear the moment it left her hand, deflecting it skyward.
Due to a loss of contact with her, the energy within the spear fizzled, and with gravity acting on it, it crashed down into the planet’s surface, stabbing into the icy ground.
“Lady Artemisia!!!”
“Your Excellency!!”
The shouts of Mallory and Kirone’s subordinates finally echoed, long after their faster-than-light movements had already been completed.
Aphine landed beside Mallory and immediately reached out, grabbing her as the thick green branches restraining her body were burned away by the powerful golden lightning radiating from her.
At the same time, the god Kings who had combined their power to intercept Kirone’s spear moved to restrain her, preventing another immediate charge at Mallory.
Aphine’s eyes fell on the blood dripping from Mallory’s side, the power of the divinity within it evident, and her expression shifted from concern to unrestrained anger as she turned to glare at Kirone.
|How dare you?!|
Her sudden fury caught Kirone’s subordinates off guard, but they quickly realised the source of Aphine’s wrath: the wound on Mallory.
Before anyone could react further, Kirone halted their bodies in time, pushing past the frozen subordinates and charging directly at Mallory.
Mallory simultaneously broke free from the last of Aphine’s restraints, lightning crackling across her body as she raced to intercept Kirone’s charge.
Divinity spiralled around Kirone’s arm with incredible speed, while golden lightning arced across Mallory’s arm, streaking over the icy surface of the planet.
Both goddesses thrust their fists forward, but the instant they did, a black light descended from above faster than anyone present could move, landing between them.
Two arms coated in the black light extended, catching the goddesses’ fists and stopping them completely.
The icy ground cracked and splintered under the force, crumbling into massive craters as shockwaves rippled outward, pushing everyone on the surface and even those arriving from above backwards.
When the icy dust finally cleared, the figure responsible for halting the two goddesses was revealed, a dark-haired man with crimson eyes, radiating a powerful demonic energy so intense that his long overcoat flapped as if caught in a violent gust of wind.
His arms, coated in a mixture of demonic and cosmic energy, held back the two goddesses as he bellowed, |ENOUGH! BOTH OF YOU!!|
The sudden arrival of the ‘Supreme’ Demon King immediately alarmed all gods present, even though they knew the Supreme god Queen maintained relatively friendly terms with him.
Additional Demon Kings, along with other Race Kings and Queens who had sensed the commotion, appeared moments later, their eyes widening in disbelief at the sight of the leaders of the New gods faction in combat.
Many were left completely stunned, especially as Mallory dropped to one knee, blood spilling from the wound in her side.
She clutched the injury in a desperate attempt to suppress the damage, and Aphine rushed to her, activating her Authority over Life to help heal the wound.
Alvey, seeing this, turned toward Kirone with a frown.
“You! Why—!”
However, he fell silent mid-speech as he saw the look in Kirone’s eyes.
Her eyes weren’t seeing him or anyone else. They were filled with pure rage, focused solely on Mallory, the only existence whose presence her senses registered.
Kirone breathed heavily, the exhaustion of repeated battles catching up to her as she stretched out her hand toward Mallory and screamed, “You! You! You’ll pay for what you’ve done!”
She tried to charge at her again, but Alvey stepped in, restraining her.
Even as she struggled against his hold, she continued shouting, |You’ll pay with your life! I swear it!|
Those words reverberated through the vacuum as Alvey forcefully teleported her away, leaving only the lingering impression of her fury in the stunned minds of everyone who witnessed it.
