Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 922 - 922: Playing and Fishing by the Stream

Upon hearing Beatrix’s reverent explanation, Arthur’s interest was piqued, especially by the mention of ‘Ultimate Skills.’
“Evan, mind telling us how you got there?”
Artemisia calmly posed this question, and for a moment, Evan nearly laughed at the irony.
‘You’re the one who told me how to get there.’
He finally understood how future Artemisia must have felt when the scene with the milkshake repeated itself for her.
Deciding to be cryptic like she was, he responded in a way she was certainly never expecting.
“You of all people, Artemisia, should NOT be asking me that question.”
After saying that, he pulled Beatrix off him and disappeared with a Blink, leaving the goddess baffled.
“Huh? What does he mean b-OH!”
It took a moment for her to grasp his meaning—since Evan knew her 10,000 years in the future, it seemed her future self had been the one to guide him to the Garden of the Stars.
While Artemisia pondered her future connection with Evan, the two protagonists continued deeper into the forest, following the sound of a distant stream. They soon arrived at a crystal-clear waterway, shimmering under the sunlight.
Magical fish swam gracefully, their iridescent scales shifting colours from blue and green to gold and silver. Some emitted a soft glow, adding a mystical aura to the scene.
“They’re so pretty!!”
Beatrix, enchanted by the sight, excitedly peered into the water, scaring a few fish away. Meanwhile, Arthur and Evan spread their auras, scanning for any signs of life but finding only a few magical creatures.
“Arty! Let’s play in the water.”
Beatrix called out with infectious excitement, and Artemisia glanced down at her practical outfit—khaki trousers, a tucked-in light brown shirt, and sturdy boots—before responding.
“Are you looking at what I’m wearing?”
Her attire was clearly unsuited for splashing around.
In contrast, Beatrix wore a flowing white sundress and sandals, with her white hair cascading freely around her shoulders, giving her an ethereal, carefree look that seemed more suited for a leisurely day by the stream than a trek through ruins and forests.
As Beatrix twirled by the stream, Evan remarked that if Artemisia had worn shorts, she might’ve joined her, but her trousers made that impossible.
“Strange insects may crawl up my body and I don’t want anything directly touching my le-?!”
Artemisia began to explain, pointing to the grass. But before she could finish, Beatrix’s spatial magic covered her and yanked her into the stream.
**SPLASH!!
“Don’t worry, you have a change of clothes. Just let loose for a little.”
“BEATRIX KIRONE XAGNA!!!”
Artemisia’s voice roared with fury as she emerged, drenched and glowing with rage and Beatrix, realising her mistake, turned pale and tried to flee but she was too slow.
**BZZZTT!!!
Golden lightning snaked across the stream, travelling above the water and zapping Beatrix with a thousand volts of power!
The flash of light briefly illuminated Beatrix’s skeleton, showing how strong the power behind the lightning was.
While Beatrix was having her shit literally shocked out of her, Arthur turned to Evan and casually asked.
“Bro, you wanna go fishing?”
He asked this while producing a fishing rod from his subspace and Evan pulled out his own fishing rod and voiced his agreement.
“Let’s go.”
A bewildered Artemisia—who had just torched the life out of Beatrix—stared at them, incredulous as she asked.
“Why do you both carry fishing rods around?”
“”Because of the possibility of finding rivers or streams like this and wanting to fish?””
Silenced by their simultaneous reply, the goddess watched as they retrieved two buckets filled with worms for bait.
“We’ll be a hundred meters out since your lightning killed everything within 50 meters of your position.”
As Artemisia glanced at the water around her feet, she noticed the floating corpses of fish, remnants of her earlier outburst. Arthur, casting a wary glance in a specific direction, warned them.
“You guys can play all you want, but keep an eye out. We don’t know what could be in here.”
He glanced in a particular direction as he said this and both Evan and Artemisia narrowed their eyes at his action.
‘Did he notice something?’
Such was Evan’s internal question, but he didn’t ask it aloud and let whatever Arthur was wary about discover they had been noticed.
Artemisia agreed, and she instead gave a reply to the earlier part of Arthur’s statement.
“I have no desire to play in the wateeeRRR!!”
“Got you!”
Beatrix emerged from the water behind Artemisia, hugged her from behind and pulled her back into the water.
“YOU!…Damn!”
“hahahahaha!!!”
Artemisia sputtered, while Evan and Arthur shook their heads with amused smiles, admiring Beatrix’s tenacity to not only get back up after being roasted with lightning but to once again find Artemisia’s trouble.
As the boys moved away to start fishing, Evan commented.
“Beatrix’s attachment to Artemisia is wild…”
“Tell me about it.”
They moved far from the two girls and sat on perfectly positioned rocks, hooking their baits and beginning their fishing session as they chatted about random things.
|Adaptive Evolution has been triggered. |
|Poison Resistance has increased slightly. |
Seeing this sudden notification, Evan turned towards the fish Arthur just caught and warned.
“Dude, that thing is poisonous.”
However, Arthur remained unconcerned, holding the toxic fish as its mist dissipated near him.
“Doesn’t matter, it wouldn’t affect me anyway.”
Evan narrowed his eyes and noticed how the poison vanished near Arthur, realising it was due to his Destruction law energy.
“Oh…Destruction law energy sounds nice…”
“I’m more curious about that Destruction Essence of yours.
Where I come from, there’s nothing like this Essence Theory that allows you to use bootleg versions of law energy.”
It seemed Destruction Essence wasn’t a thing in Arthur’s hometown.
“Bootleg?”
“Yeah. That ‘Essence’ is pretty much an imitation of the Law of Destruction’s power created with Magic and a minute portion of the real Law’s power.
If it isn’t a bootleg version then I don’t know what is.”
Arthur explained. Evan couldn’t argue with that—it was, indeed, a bootleg version of true law energy.
Just as Arthur recast his fishing rod to find more poisonous fish, he suddenly sensed something.
“Oh, we have company.”
“Yep, I sense 20.”
Evan replied, glancing towards Beatrix and Artemisia in the distance. Beatrix was running from Artemisia, who was chasing her with a large stick, and the sight made him chuckle.
“They don’t look like they’ve noticed.”
“They have.”
Arthur quickly corrected Evan, earning surprise from the Rogue Hero.
“Huh? Are you sure? They don’t look like it. Especially Beatrix.”
“Of course, they don’t.
You should know Beatrix is actually quite sharp despite her…usual behaviour.”
Arthur explained that when he first encountered Beatrix and Artemisia in Tolgue sometime last year, Beatrix was the one who had instantly noticed his real strength—while Artemisia didn’t find anything off with him.
“Artemisia has noticed our company but she’s acting like she hasn’t.
The moment they came into range, I noticed two things.
First, Artemisia’s dormant energy suddenly became active.
Secondly, Beatrix flinched for a split second—which allowed Artemisia to catch up to her and whack her with that stick.
If there’s one thing that Beatrix fails in, it’s concealing her reactions. You wouldn’t find anything wrong at first glance, but someone with a precise spatial perception like mine would notice these little changes.”
Hearing Arthur’s explanation, Evan focused on the girls and saw it—Beatrix’s eyes occasionally darting toward the forest despite messing with Artemisia.
“I see…
You’ve got a pretty good read on Beatrix.”
When Evan said this, Arthur just shrugged as if it wasn’t anything phenomenal.
“We spent a week trapped in a Dungeon once. Though I am personally more interested in Artemisia, it was kinda hard not to notice things about Beatrix during that time.”
Arthur’s response reminded Evan once again, that he was the reason why Artemisia and Beatrix were still on this planet. According to Arthur, Artemisia could resist his Progenitor Realm Suppression with her Evolution powers.
“You have a FULL Appraisal skill, right? Mind showing me what Artemisia’s status looks like to you?”
Evan obliged Arthur’s request, and within seconds, a translucent board of Artemisia’s detailed Existential Records appeared in front of them.
The sight of her Status Condition made Evan chuckle a bit, as well as marvel at how she managed to keep a stoic expression despite that.
| Condition- Lightly Annoyed. |
Evan glanced at Artemisia’s Combat Class displayed on the appraisal board and commented.
“Arcane Evolver… suits her, considering her Elemental Mastery.”
Artemisia had evolved her affinity for the Four Basic Elements—Fire, Water, Earth, and Air—to their highest limits, allowing her to cast Tier 4 magic effortlessly.
Each element granted her a specific skill, but her primary affinity was Lightning, far surpassing the others. She could wield spells with a level of mastery that even Legendary Levels struggled to achieve.
As for her Evolution powers, their origin wasn’t difficult to figure out.
| Queen of Evolution;
Type: Personal Unique Skill
This skill cannot be lost or taken away.
This skill can only be used by the existence with the name: ‘Artemisia M. Delgasso’.
As the “Queen of Evolution,” Artemisia wields unparalleled mastery over the forces of evolution, enabling her to manipulate the very essence of living beings and elements. This skill allows her to evolve allies and devolve enemies, making her a formidable force in any battle.
Abilities:
Evolve Ally:
– Temporarily enhances an ally’s Existence Realms, increasing their physical and magical abilities, as well as overall power in battle. Grants boosted stats and additional elemental affinity for a set duration.
Devolve Opponent:
– Reverses the evolution of an enemy to Reduce their Existence Realm, weakening their abilities and reducing their combat effectiveness. Lowers the target’s stats and strips away advanced skills, making them vulnerable.
Elemental Transmutation:
– Transforms basic elemental attacks and defences into their evolved forms, increasing their potency and adding unique effects.
Adaptive Regeneration:
– Grants allies enhanced healing abilities, allowing them to recover from injuries rapidly. Also provides temporary immunity to certain status effects and enhances natural resistance to various elemental attacks.
Evolutionary Shield:
– Creates a protective barrier around allies that evolves to counter incoming attacks. The shield adapts to the type of damage received, becoming stronger and more resilient with each hit, while also reflecting a portion of the damage back at the attacker. |
Arthur’s focus remained on the first few lines of Artemisia’s skill description as he asked Evan.
“You can’t use your Mystic Eyes on this, can you?”
Evan was silent for a moment before sighing, and responding like he hadn’t already revealed his origins to Artemisia.
“Not like it matters anyway. Artemisia’s not dumb—she can clearly see the inscription in my eyes.”
He confirmed that his Mystic Eyes of Mimicry, which allowed him to mimic others’ skills after certain conditions were met, couldn’t replicate Artemisia’s powerful Unique Skill.
It was exclusive to her alone.
“Maybe that’s a boon of being ‘Loved by the Universe’ itself…”
Evan made this comment as he looked at two of Artemisia’s titles he couldn’t ignore even if he was blind.
‘Loved by the Universe’ and ‘Valmone’s Favourite’
What did a person have to do to become the Universe’s Favourite?
Arthur seemed to sink into his thoughts for some moments until Evan interrupted with a question related to their current situation.
“So, how close do you intend to let them get?”
“A few more metres, why?”
Evan checked the level of warning Danger Sense was giving him before responding.
“I don’t know if it’s just me, but I feel like they’re aiming something at us.
Maybe arrows? Might be guns.”
“Come to think of it, I haven’t seen a gun since I came to this Planet…”
