Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 926 - 926: Graveyard of My Enemies’ Adversaries

“It’s already too late, Beatrix.”
Arthur declared calmly and before Beatrix could respond, Idrilla dropped to her knees, taking a deep breath before looking up at Arthur.
“Too late, indeed.
I only ask that you do not dash my hopes of a new life away from this wretched place.”
The intensity of the hatred in Idrilla’s voice sent a chill through Beatrix and she instinctively stepped back.
Artemisia, who had remained silent since the start, stood and summoned her lightning-crackling sword.
“Brace yourself.”
Idrilla released a burst of divinity, her lips parting as she activated her skill.
“Unique Skill: Soul Harvest.”
The Saintess of Death summoned the souls of powerful Epic and Legendary Realm existences she had once defeated.
Half became Spectral Guardians bound by her ‘Eternal Servitude’ skill, while the rest fuelled her spellcasting.
Death Magic: Death Wave.
Necrotic energy surged outwards in a wave that withered everything within a kilometre radius.
However, the targets of her spell remained unharmed.
Beatrix and Artemisia unleashed their divinities, offsetting the spell’s negative death energy, while Evan’s yellow flames created a ring of purification.
As for Arthur, his destruction energy simply ‘destroyed’ the necrotic power.
The Spectral Guardians rushed forward, but Evan’s prismatic flames purified them, and Arthur obliterated them with a thought.
‘These Spectres…they barely have any defence so it’s easy to kill them…too easy.’
Evan’s eyes narrowed as he sensed something off, but Arthur spoke first.
“You’re a sneaky one, aren’t you?”
“Hahaha… you can’t blame me. I’ve had to fight off outsiders since before I became a teenager. I wouldn’t have survived this long without learning a few tricks.”
Idrilla to Arthur responded with a bitter laugh, as she rose to her feet. Frowning lightly, Evan asked aloud.
“Arthur, what did she do?”
“The spectres, that spell…they were distractions. And they worked very well.”
While Arthur had been dealing with the spectres, Idrilla had covertly infused the ground for a radius of 1km with her death energy using the ‘Death Wave’ spell as a cover.
With this move, the woman had successfully laid the groundwork for a certain game-changing ‘Topographic Technique’.
“Right now, we’re literally in the palm of her hand.”
Arthur spoke as he summoned his sword—not the usual Soul Devouring one but a less threatening semi-transparent blade—and filled it with magic power, locking eyes with Idrilla who spread her arms and calmly declared.
[Bounded Field: Graveyard of My Enemies’ Adversaries.]
A black mist burst from Idrilla, spreading out rapidly and forming the boundary wall. A blinding light filled their vision and when it faded, they found themselves in a barren desert of black sand.
Giant, dreary hills loomed in the background, and the sky was filled with swirling clouds of death energy.
The landscape was a desolate, expansive wasteland cemetery, littered with thousands—perhaps countless—tombstones, each inscribed with a name.
The air was heavy with a palpable sense of ‘death’, and the very ground seemed to pulse with negative energy.
“My apologies. My Oath has forced me to take action.”
Idrilla said this with a wry smile on her face and the four teenagers before her all wore difficult expressions—except for Arthur, who had no expression.
Evan glanced around warily as his Danger Sense rang warnings. In the process, his gaze inadvertently caught sight of the name inscribed on one of the tombstones near his feet.
[Xakon Ilmoth]
“…what?”
Evan stepped back in shock, his expression changing into one of pure confusion.
That name…was familiar.
Evan could NEVER forget that name.
The problem was, that name belonged to a dead man. A man Evan had killed with his own hands.
Arthur noticed Evan’s reaction and turned to question him when his eyes caught sight of a name on another tombstone.
[Zach Pearce]
“…the fuck?”
Now, it was Arthur’s turn to be shocked, as the name there was one Arthur recognized as belonging to someone long dead.
They both scanned the countless tombstones around them, all of which had names inscribed.
Many were names Evan did not recognize, but there were some he did.
What’s more, the names Evan did not recognize were names that Arthur recognized.
Seeing their changing expressions, Idrilla spoke up.
“Familiar names, aren’t they?”
Arthur and Evan narrowed their eyes at her as she traced her finger across the top of a nearby tombstone.
It bore another name Arthur recognized—Ursan, the Northern Emperor of the destroyed Planet Phirex. A planet whose destruction Arthur had been responsible for.
On the tombstone beside it, Evan saw a name he recognized as well—Yaqash, an Arachne he had fought years ago in Geto City.
The same Arachne who caused him to acquire Charm and Poison resistance.
“Did you remember what I told you when I introduced myself?
I am The Saintess of All Those Who Have Died.”
Idrilla spoke as a rune glowing with divinity appeared on her cheek.
“Within my Bounded Field, I can resurrect the Dead. The dead who have fallen by your hands.
The Adversaries of you, My Enemies.”
“?!”
**BOOM!!
Death law energy erupted from the ground in front of the tombstones, and the four teenagers leapt back.
The black earth split open, and figures began to claw their way up from below.
The first to emerge was a man of average height and a slender build, with short, messy red hair and slanted eyes. He wielded a large one-handed sword and was dressed in black, full-body armour emanating demonic energy.
A pair of bat-like wings emerged from his back, completing his demon appearance.
Second was a teenage boy, with shiny blonde hair and an angry look on his face. Runes of various kinds marked his skin along his arms and his two swords were inscribed with runes as well.
His body leaked out droves of malevolent ether, making one feel unsettled with his mere presence.
As the two figures emerged, an eerie light flickered in their eyes. In unison, they whipped their heads toward the two boys and roared their names with furious intensity.
[EVAN ERISSSSSSS!!!!!!] [ARTHUR VAUGHNNNN!!!!!]
Their auras erupted violently, and they charged toward Evan and Arthur with fury. Waves of ambient death energy swirled around their weapons and the boys didn’t need to be told—getting hit would be bad.
“What the actual fuck?! You shouldn’t even exist in this time period!!”
Evan yelled, his voice laced with shock as he confronted the Xakon, but the demon offered no explanation, only roaring Evan’s name with unbridled rage, swinging his sword wildly and unleashing streams of black fire toward him.
“Is that your issue? This guy is someone from a different Universe!! How is he even here?”
Arthur exclaimed as he dodged the sword of the young man named Zach, grabbing him by the face and slamming him into the ground with full force.
Zach’s skull cracked open, blood spraying in every direction—only for his body to disintegrate into glowing magic particles that scattered with the wind.
But this was the least of their concerns, right now. The names were more important.
Zach Pearce and Xakon Ilmoth.
Evan didn’t know this Zach guy, but it was clear the boy was one of Arthur’s past kills.
The real problem? Arthur was from a different Universe, and given Valmone was Arthur’s first inter-universal trip, this guy had to be from there as well.
Yet, Idrilla had summoned Zach and sent him after Arthur.
And Xakon? This was the Ilmoth Family Noble Demon who had nearly killed Evan in Geto City at the end of Year 1051.
Evan’s issue with Xakon’s case was that Xakon was not only from a different planet but a different time period!
But here he stood, before Evan.
How?
Idrilla was kind enough to explain.
“You’re wondering how these enemies of yours that are from a time that has not yet come, can be summoned here, are you not?
It is simple.
The ‘Graveyard of My Enemies’ Adversaries’ resurrects the Adversaries of the targets within it, whom they have slayed in their past.”
Hearing her short explanation, realisation flashed through Arthur’s eyes and he quickly understood the working process.
“Now it makes sense…”
“What does?”
Arthur responded, sharing some of his Time Law Comprehensions.
“Even if you came from the ‘Future’, Evan. The ‘Future’ you came from is now your ‘Past’ and this ‘Past’ you are in is now your ‘Present’.”
Evan and the others weren’t Time Manipulators, but they quickly grasped the concept. Yet one question still loomed—how had the dead from the future appeared here?
Idrilla, ever the oracle, answered smoothly.
“Barriers of Time and Space exist not within my Bounded Field…for this is a Realm of ‘Death’.
Death affects all, regardless of if you are from the past present or future, regardless of what planet you were born on or what Universe it is.”
“Ain’t that some fourth-dimensional shit right there?!”
Arthur let out an incredulous laugh, throwing his hands up in mock disbelief. Before he could say any more, a blazing beam of pure white flames shot through the air toward him.
He froze the fire in its tracks before turning his attention to the giant white dragon that was its source.
Arthur didn’t recognize the dragon, so he glanced over at Evan and asked.
“You know this guy?”
“Sure as hell do.”
Evan’s expression turned difficult as he raised a hand in a half-hearted wave toward the massive white dragon.
“Hello there, Faldo. Been a while, hasn’t it?”
The ‘Hidden Boss’ of the ‘Lizard Lord’s Outbreak’, High White Dragon Faldo, responded with a deafening roar, unleashing waves of dragon fear across the battlefield.
But the intimidating force did not affect any of them.
“I’m surprised, Evan. To think you were from the future…”
Idrilla, watching the exchange with mild intrigue, clicked her tongue inwardly, her voice laced with surprise. She refrained from mentioning the strain her Bounded Field had undergone to pull adversaries from the future.
Walking forward, the young woman began speaking.
“Every single tombstone in this Graveyard represents an Adversary you have killed. Some particular Notable Adversaries can be resurrected with more pow-“
|¬Stop¬|
Arthur cut Idrilla off midway through her explanation, his eyes narrowing at her as he questioned the woman.
“Why?
Why are you so easily explaining your Bounded Field’s ability to us?”
To Arthur, it felt strange. Shouldn’t she be guarding the secrets of her Bounded Field?
Instead, she openly shared the mechanics of her technique, even mentioning extra features like “Notable Adversaries” without any prompting.
Idrilla let out a resigned sigh, realizing her intentions had been uncovered. She turned slightly, showing the back of her fair palm to them.
“Revealing One’s Hand.
A Binding Vow used by Curse Sorcerers, that increases the user’s energy output, efficiency, quality, and overall power in exchange for vocally divulging how their ‘Technique’ functions.”
Even as adversaries continued to claw their way up from the tombstones around them, she calmly disclosed this information.
“What I need now against you, are increased output, efficiency and not overall power, but enhanced attack potency.
Enough Attack Potency to bypass those durabilites of yours.
While you may be able to kill them with ease if your attacks hit, you wouldn’t want theirs touching you either.
But with their numbers…I wonder if you’d be able to manage that?”
At that moment, Faldo, who had been glaring at Evan in silence, began condensing energy in his maw.
A layer of light enveloped Idrilla, and a cloak materialized around her shoulders. Her slender arms stretched out, summoning a Scythe of Death energy, capable of reaping souls, while an aged Grimoire appeared before her, its pages fluttering rapidly.
“Try not to die.”
She said, offering a business-like smile just as the energy from Faldo peaked, erupting from its maw as a torrent of white flames intent on scorching the world.
Without hesitation, the four of them scattered in different directions, avoiding the inferno that struck the ground where they had stood just seconds before.
**KAABOOOMM!!!!!
