Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 929 - 929: Rematch!

Just then, a massive boar with fiery red eyes charged toward him, and he unfurled his wings, taking to the air to evade its path. Spinning mid-flight to gain momentum, he hurled the Blade Wraith at Xakon, who had pursued him into the sky.
He dropped back down, evading the Shadow Leopard’s energy blasts, and landed with enough force to unleash a shockwave, scattering everything within a hundred meters.
Watching his past opponents quickly get back on their feet, Evan scanned them all and called out their respective names.
“The unnamed ‘Shadow Leopard’ from the Graveyard of the Arrogant.
The unnamed Orc Lord from Luka Town’s Mountains where I met Liz.
Yaqash, the Boss of the Spider’s Nest Dungeon.
Xakon Ilmoth from Geto City.
Elecrus from the Mansion of the Damned’s Monster Room.
Ocsuat the Frost Boar King boss of the Mansion of the Damned’s Floor 30.”
Evan took in each face, remembering them all.
Though encircled by his resurrected foes, he showed no sign of fear.
He drove the Unforged Vale into the ground, cracking his knuckles as the edges of his golden aura flared crimson with the activation of BoD.
“Fine, let’s have our rematch.”
Gripping his blade, Evan lunged forward, crimson gold energy blazing around him as he charged at the reborn adversaries whose eyes glowed with killing intent.
His opponents were not just the Notable Adversaries.
Idrilla hadn’t just summoned the Notable Adversaries; she’d filled the field with lesser mobs as well, a flood of mobs designed solely to wear him down and keep him from engaging the Notables properly.
If he wanted to have breathing space, he was going to need to use a lot of AOE attacks to clear the area.
“AOE? I can do AOE just fine!”
Evan’s crimson-gold aura and his flaming energy pulsed around him, setting the battlefield alight.
“Mesarthim; Red: Flame Fan Formation!”
An omnidirectional burst of flames torched everything around him, turning them to death energy mist before they could even attack.
However, more filled their spots so couldn’t let up.
“Chain Lightning. Glacial Annihilation. Blue Judgement. Elemental Surge. Elemental Skewer.”
Lightning crackled, jumping from one enemy to the next as a blizzard of crimson-gold ice swirled around them, ensnaring them in a storm of lethal frost.
Above, blue lightning crashed down, striking the battlefield with explosive force, while waves of flame pulsed out from Evan’s body every few seconds, each pulse sending fiery shockwaves through the air.
The mobs barely had a chance to rise before spears of frostfire erupted from the ground around him, piercing through legs and stomachs, impaling them to death.
However, these attacks only one-shot the mobs. The Notable Adversaries were undeterred.
Out of the corner of his eye, Evan saw the Shadow Leopard from the Graveyard of Arrogant slipping through the carnage, eyes locked on him with feral intent. Faster than a blur, the creature lunged, its razor claws glowing with dark energy.
Evan simply teleported out of its path and then swung his blazing sword across the leopard’s side, cutting deep into its flank and forcing it back.
He grabbed its tail and activated Adamantine might, using the tail as a handle to fling the monster’s building-sized body like a flail. Evan slammed the leopard into the body of the Frost Boar King charging at him, while simultaneously using Everlasting Chains to wrap around the legs of the Arachne Yaqash.
Right after he sent the two giant monsters tumbling across the earth and crushing mobs in the process, he used Space Warp, appearing behind Yaqash and throwing a fist aimed right at her face.
‘Electroflame + Fracture.’
He used a combo that made him miss Kayla, but Kayla was the only one he missed. He certainly didn’t miss the Arachne’s face.
The lightning and flames flashed back for a triple impact, obliterating Yaqash’s human head from existence.
Though she wasn’t dead, Evan didn’t have the time to finish her off as a wave of mobs charged at him. They seemed to be random bandits and monsters he’d killed, and they rushed toward him with crude weapons and bloodthirsty screams.
Among them, a Bear Monster he remembered from the Graveyard of Arrogant lunged, its massive form shaking the ground as it closed in on him.
“This place is too crowded. Ice Nova.”
Faster than the mobs charging at him could even think, they were frozen solid, encased in layers upon layers of jagged crimson-gold icicles.
“Hydra.”
The ground behind Evan cracked open and Serpentine dragons roared out, spewing breaths of flames and lightning that pulverized the ice, erasing those frozen within as well.
The flames blazed across the ground, scorching more of the advancing mobs and sending tendrils of smoke spiralling upward. Some mobs burned where they stood, crumbling to ash, while others—more resilient—charged straight through the flames, their eyes filled with killing intent.
Out of nowhere, Ocsuat the Frost Boar King appeared, barrelling towards Evan in a blur of icy white. It roared as it charged, frosty vapours coating the air as it aimed to gouge him with its tusks.
“Elemental Shield.”
The spherical shield of light appeared behind Evan and he set the element to fire, a perfect counter for the Frost Boar’s ice.
The boar struck a second later, sending Evan skidding back but failing to breach the barrier.
“Mesarthim + Harbinger of Ice + Flux.”
Evan combined the three skills with Frozen Inferno and released a volatile stream of scorching cold. Flames licked around the icy core of the blast as it struck the Frost Boar head-on, freezing parts of its body even as it burned.
Normally, Evan wouldn’t use Ice against a ‘Frost’ Boar, but with his Blessings of Destruction and Corrosion in the mix, the monster’s elemental resistance was not a problem.
The boar howled, steam and smoke wafting off it as it staggered back, its once-pristine fur now charred and frozen.
While Evan was running this test, his back seemed unguarded and Xakon didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the opening.
He wielded a sphere of ice magic in one hand and a blade coated in flames in the other. The blade arced down toward Evan, who raised his sword to parry, absorbing the impact without even looking at Xakon.
“Detona-!”
**BAAM!!
Evan’s fist flashed and crashed into Xakon’s mouth faster than the man could activate his skill, the same skill that had caught Evan off guard during their first encounter.
He followed up with an Aura Slash, then used Everlasting Chains to hold the demon down as he swung his blade diagonally, cutting through his armour and sending blood spilling into the air.
Suddenly, the rest of the battlefield erupted in a cascade of ambushes. The Fake Heroes he’d killed in Duscon charged forward, joining the swarm of First Division Senior members that Evan had killed on the same day, along with the other creatures Idrilla had summoned.
Wyverns from Lacertilia and dinosaur monsters from Verduracliff charged at him from all angles and ignored Xakon in favour of dealing with them.
Though individually weak against him, their combined threat was undeniable, and he needed to thin their ranks quickly.
Evan’s energy surged and he used Elemental Shield once more, expanding it around himself to deflect the waves of attacks closing in from all sides. Lightning crackled through the shield, leaping out in pulses to strike down smaller enemies.
Pivoting, he opened his mouth and unleashed a Dragon Breath, rotating his head as the beam of swirling prismatic flames incinerated the hordes.
“Tempest Avatar + Stout Guardian + Frostborne Colossus.”
In an instant, the fusion of the three skills coalesced into a towering humanoid avatar, standing a hundred meters tall.
Wielding a sword of frozen lightning and a shield of powerful magic, it cast a massive shadow across the battlefield.
With a mighty swing of its blade, the avatar cleaved through waves of monsters, each arc of the weapon effortlessly slicing through flesh and bone.
The force of the strikes sent shockwaves rippling through the ground, knocking back anything within range. Hundreds of creatures fell before the onslaught, their bodies torn apart and dissolving into mist as the avatar carved a path through the chaos that surrounded Evan.
But there was no stopping them.
The mobs pushed forward, undeterred and Evan also had to take action. He released an Aura Slash to cut down a wyvern, only for a dozen more to take its place.
Clicking his tongue, he took to the skies and spun around, lining his sword with flames as he did so.
“Hell Unleashed.”
Evan truly unleashed hell on them. The Prismatic flames turned the mobs to ashes, burning some of the Notable Adversaries in the process as well.
He spotted the Shadow Leopard leaping towards the Avatar Fusion and he teleported behind it, grabbing its tail and flinging it towards the ground.
Moving faster than sound, Evan closed the distance and before the monster touched the earth, he threw a full-powered punch aimed at its chest.
**BOOM!!!
The blow erupted with a burst of thundering flames, the lightning coursing through the creature’s body as it convulsed mid-air, then crashed onto the ground…lifeless.
‘It’s not disappearing?’
Evan noticed this but before he dwell on it, more mobs attacked him so he used Chain Lightning to shock them to death. By the time he turned back to the spot where the Leopard’s corpse was, there was nothing there.
‘So, it dissolved in the end. It’d be annoying if these guys keep spawning infinitely…’
He wasn’t sure his energy regeneration would keep up.
Before Evan could draw another breath, the chilling presence of the Frost Boar Ocsuat charged in from his left, with steam rising from the monster’s frosted hide.
“I remember you’re the one who gave me my Tenacity Skill. So I know you’re even harder to kill than a cockroach.”
Evan faced the monster whose eyes glowed with a rage that matched its icy aura, chuckling as he spoke.
“But…you still died, didn’t you?”
The boy raised his sword and destruction essence surged through the blade, mixing with his prismatic flames as he brought it down.
“World Sunder.”
The Unforged Vale met Ocsuat’s charge with a resounding impact, a shockwave erupting from the point of contact. The force of destruction cleaved the Frost Boar in two, sending icy shards flying in all directions as its body split apart.
But Evan’s slash did not stop there.
The destructive flame energy continued, cleaving through everything in its path as it tore through the ground.
With Ocsuat dead, Evan turned back to Xakon who was charging in from behind. The demon was met with a barrage of frostfire blades, Evan’s elemental weaponry tearing through the air.
Xakon used his Detonate skill to blow up the blade mid-air in fiery explosions as he barrelled through the debris, intent on colliding with Evan.
But Evan had no intention of letting the confrontation drag on.
The ground cracked open beneath Xakon, and two serpentine dragons erupted from the depths, charging toward him with jaws wide. Xakon spun, his sword cleaving through the first dragon with ease, while he conjured magic to freeze the second using his other hand.
Just as he triumphed over the serpents, a crimson gold chain shot out from behind him, wrapping tightly around his waist and yanking him into the air.
He severed the chain, but before he could regain his balance, Evan appeared directly in front of him, and a wave of golden spatial power blasted Xakon in the face, leaving him momentarily disoriented.
“Prismatic Vortex.”
Evan’s calm voice was the last thing Xakon heard as the boy thrust his sword forward, a spiralling mass of prismatic flames igniting along the blade.
The vortex crashed into Xakon’s upper body, obliterating it in a brilliant explosion of colour and energy. His lower half fell lifelessly to the ground, while Evan vanished in the aftermath, already charging at Elecrus.
