Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 930 - 930: Bye Maude…Again

The Bladewraith: Veradas was a powerful swordsman, but the current Evan’s skills were far higher than its own.
Within seconds, Evan had overwhelmed the monster with a flurry of strikes, and he severed the monster’s arm off the wrist.
It tried to use its crossbow, but a frostfire spear dropped from above and pierced through the weapon, exploding right afterwards and destroying its arm.
In the meantime, Evan’s left arm reached out, grabbing the monster’s face and he used two skills simultaneously.
‘Energy Blast + Dragon Breath.’
His left hand released a blast of frost that froze Elecrus’ head, while his lips parted to unleash a dragon breath that tore a hole right through its torso.
Then, he ripped off the frozen head and shattered it in his fist, letting the rest of the monster’s corpse dropdown.
Once again, Evan had already teleported before it hit the ground, his next target being the Arachne Yaqash.
Evan reappeared behind the arachnid, driving his sword into the back of her chest and twisting the blade as flames ignited, engulfing her body.
Yaqash screeched, thrashing in agony as the flames consumed her, but she fought back with a deadly spray of venom that twisted unnaturally through the air, sizzling as it approached him.
Despite his resistance to poison, Evan had no desire to be drenched in it. He activated Space Warp, vanishing from sight and reappearing before the Arachne, his sword raised high.
“Adamantine Might. Aura Slash.”
Evan’s sword came down in a clean arc, cleaving through her body diagonally, silencing her agonized screams as her body collapsed lifelessly to the ground.
He then turned around, the blood evaporating off his blade as he looked at the last of the Notables regrouping, gathering what strength they had left.
The Orc Lord bared its tusks and stomped forward, brandishing its sword while the remaining Aramisian Divine Humans he’d killed during the Nautical Crusade fell in line beside it.
“I’d end you all at once.”
With that declaration, Evan activated the skill he’d taken from the Leviathan Crarox.
“Gravitational Maelstrom.”
Evan’s body trembled as the power of gravity sucked his magic power faster than water escaping a leaking faucet.
The boy sighed as he understood the significance of the increased energy consumption—his lack of affinity for Gravity—but regardless, the effect was still devastating.
He targeted the Orc Lord as the ‘central point,’ and pulled the thousands of mobs toward it with an immense, crushing force.
The grotesque scene that followed was brutal; blood and flesh erupted as they collided violently, creating a horrific display of death.
Even Evan found himself momentarily looking away, the sight too visceral to fully absorb.
Thankfully, the bodies dissolved into death energy mist almost immediately after, erasing the carnage as if it had never been.
◇ ◇ ◇
Evan thought he’d have a moment to catch his breath, pop a potion or two in his mouth and rearrange his mask which he’d shifted to the side so he could launch breath attacks.
He thought wrong.
Danger Sense blared a siren in his head and Evan blinked away, evading the spear that struck the ground where he’d been standing a moment before.
Looking at the spear that split the ground open, Evan smiled wryly.
He recognized it.
He’d seen it on the same day he’d met Faldo.
“I mean, first Faldo, then Maude. There was no way you wouldn’t show up as well…”
His gaze lifted, sweeping up the length of the spear to the hulking figure standing above it. A towering reptilian figure with crimson scales balanced on the spear’s hilt.
“Lizard Lord Bhak.”
His only response was an earth-shattering roar, Bhak’s ‘Primal Roar’ skill activating as he launched forward, hurtling like a fiery comet toward Evan.
Evan braced, prepared to meet the charge head-on—until a sudden force clamped down on him like invisible hands, dragging him and slamming him into the ground with crushing force.
In that same instant, Bhak’s enormous flame-coated feet stomped down and Evan teleported again, materializing several dozen meters away to avoid being stomped by the angry lizard.
His gaze scanned the area and he locked onto the figure of the one responsible for the seemingly invisible attack.
“Ah…Maude, you’re back.”
Maude did not respond to him. Now a ‘Notable Adversary’, Maude had power nearly 150 levels higher than she had at the peak of her life, and she craved to avenge her death with this newfound power.
Her twin staves were coated with powerful earth magic, and Evan could tell her Unique Skill was active as well.
Unlike earlier, he doubted he’d be able to easily shrug off her petrification.
Bhak charged at him along with Maude, the Lizardman’s flames licking at his massive spear as its scorching aura surged.
“You know…fire is not a good idea against me. But I’d humour you.”
With those words, Evan deactivated Mesarthim and activated Harbinger of Ice. Crimson gold ice coated his blade and he lunged at Bhak, swinging the blade and using the ability of Sigesi’s Frostshade.
The powerful wave of ice surged uncontrollably, freezing the battlefield and covering the monster in ice.
Evan then turned to face Maude who’d darted to his side, thrusting her twin staves towards him. He sidestepped, avoiding her reach, but the earth around him cracked as her staff impacted the ground, sending tremors underfoot.
Immediately, jagged stones erupted in his path, forcing him to leap while Bhak who’d broken out of its icy prison, swung its spear down with brutal force.
Evan spun and parried the spear, their clash of powers releasing a scorching wave of heat. Ice surged up Evan’s blade, onto Bhak’s spear and travelled down its length to freeze the Lizard Lord’s arm.
Immediately, the Blessing of Corrosion took effect, giving Evan’s ice a dark tint as Bhak’s skin began to sizzle, then darken and crack.
A low growl escaped Bhak’s throat as it retaliated, stomping its foot on the ground in anger. Flames burst from the ground, surrounding Evan in a ring of searing embers, but Evan was unfazed.
He jumped back and used Void Steps, creating footholds in the air and darting above the blazing ground.
‘Elemental Weapon Barrage.’
Frozen lightning blades rained down from the sky and Bhak roared, activating Inferno Aura and causing the weapons to melt before touching him.
{Summon Household.}
Ten magic circles manifested in a circle around Bhak’s body, and from each one, a Lizardman emerged with a roar.
From one of the circles, a giant Lizardman, about ten metres tall made its appearance, roaring loudly as if it wanted the whole world to hear.
And it was right into its roaring mouth that Evan stuffed three of the serpentine dragons from his Hydra skill.
He then followed up with Chain Lightning, shocking Bhak first before jumping to the next target, striking both Maude and the summoned Lizardmen Bhak had conjured as backup.
Maude took a step back, shaking off the lightning with her stone skin and joined her staves into one long polearm.
She swung it and used her Earthquake Strike skill, but Evan’s ice-covered blade blocked the polearm from hitting the ground.
Evan redirected her strike, swapping out his ice for his prismatic flames that licked up the length of her polearm and forced her back with a hiss.
{Venomous Tempest!}
Snapping his head in Bhak’s direction, Evan saw the Lizardman’s spell circle emit a noxious, greenish mist that clung to him like damp fog.
Even with his poison resistance to protect him, the poisonous mist could obscure his vision so Evan teleported out of the way using Space Warp to appear behind Bhak.
“World Sunder.”
His sword came down, the destruction essence slashing through the Lizard Lord’s scales and biting deep into the flesh underneath.
Bhak stumbled, but Evan didn’t stop; he spun around and delivered a high kick to the side of Bhak’s head, before teleporting and using Fracture to give the Lizardman a powerful uppercut.
Despite him being much faster, Maude somehow kept pace with his moves. She dashed into his side and swung her polearm, with Evan instinctively raising his hand to block.
She spun around to gain momentum and attack twice, however, Evan didn’t let that weapon touch him a second time.
He could already feel a creeping sensation sweeping up his arm. One hit and Stoneheart’s Embrace was already beginning to take effect.
His flesh started to harden, a numbness spreading like frostbite.
“Mesarthim: Yellow.”
The flames of purification ‘purified’ the petrification off his arm and then he used Elemental Weapon Barrage to push Maude back.
Snapping his fingers, he used Elemental Skewer and Maude who was occupied with blocking the barrage of frostfire weapons was defenceless against the spears of prismatic flames that erupted from the ground, impaling her.
Just then, flaming projectiles rained down from the sky, drawing crimson arcs through the air, but Evan used Blink to teleport through Bhak’s Blazing Meteor Strike, all while gathering energy in his throat.
‘Dragon Breath!’
Evan momentarily took on his Draconic Form, giving his breath a 25% power boost as he released it in a sweeping arc that engulfed Bhak.
The frosty breath cracked Bhak’s Inferno Aura, pushing the Lizardman into the ground.
“Time to end this. Limit Break.”
Evan’s eyes glowed and he locked onto both Maude and Bhak. He activated Adamantine Might and Vortex, and spiralling flames and ice swirled around his sword, glowing with an intensity that filled the entire battlefield.
He moved forward, acting as if he was about to charge, only to teleport behind the two opponents and release the Vortex.
‘Elemental Gale.’
The Vortex caught both Maude and Bhak in its pull, and the swirling energy engulfed them in a frostfire storm that shredded their durability and vitality.
Blood spilt onto the ground as Evan charged another Vortex with just ice, teleporting right in front of Bhak and thrusting his blade forward.
Bhak Inferno Aura surged around him, flames attempting to ward off the biting chill, but Evan’s Ice Vortex sliced through the heat and tore apart Bhak’s scales.
The blizzard-like winds around Evan’s sword intensified, ripping flesh and scale apart with every strike until he exposed the creature’s heart.
The Lizard Lord roared, attempting one last Primal Roar to intimidate, but Evan used his Intimidation Skill to fight it off, overpowering and intimidating Bhak instead.
Evan reached out with his left hand, grabbing Bhak’s heart, still pulsing weakly as ice crawled over its surface. He then crushed the heart in his hand, the organ shattering into frozen fragments that dissolved into mist.
As Bhak’s massive body collapsed, Evan turned to Maude who was healing herself as she glared at him.
Without a word, she charged forward, swinging her polearm in a sweeping arc, but Evan parried it and then he used his destruction energy to snap it in half.
He swept a foot under her stance, unbalancing her and sending her sprawling to the ground.
She struggled to rise, but Evan’s Everlasting Chains whipped out, crimson-gold links wrapping around her arms and legs, pinning her to the ground.
The woman writhed about, but Evan silently brought his blade down, piercing her heart. Maude let out a low hiss, her glare sharp as she met his gaze one last time.
Evan tilted his head, a small, cold smile playing on his lips.
“Bye, Maude.”
Immediately, her body dissolved into a dark mist that was blown away in the wind.
Finally having a moment to breathe, Evan sipped one of his juice pack potions, turning his gaze to another part of the Battlefield.
There he saw Arthur engaged in a sword battle against Idrilla, and the sight made him laugh.
“Arthur is toying with her…”
He could see Idrilla was not one for melee combat, so the fact she was lasting in a battle against Arthur could only mean he was letting her.
Knowing how Arthur acted most of the time, this whole thing was probably fun for him.
