Reincarnated Hero System - Chapter 933 - 933: Silverwing, Craitid, Faldo I

“Arthur, Evan…fuck you two.”
Idrilla was simply expressing her anger, and the boys understood this, but Evan chose to react as though he took her words literally.
“Hell no! Why would I do that when my fiancée exists?”
“Fiancée? You’re engaged?”
Arthur and Artemisia’s attention shifted entirely to this unexpected detail, their concerns about the Bounded Field momentarily forgotten.
“Yeah. Got engaged like a week before I got sent here.”
Evan replied with a casual shrug, glancing down at his left hand, where his engagement ring should have rested.
He hadn’t lost it; he’d simply taken it off.
“That’s rough…”
“Tell me something I don’t know…”
Evan responded to Arthur’s sympathetic tone with a dry laugh. Artemisia, however, narrowed her gaze at him, her curiosity bubbling to the surface.
“Was I there?”
Her question was vague, but Evan understood she was referring to the moment that led to his time displacement.
Turning to her, he replied.
“This is the wrong Time, Place, and Occasion to ask that, Artemisia.”
“…”
Silence hung between them as Artemisia said nothing further, having gleaned all she needed from his words.
Evan was not one to dodge questions, especially not with such a blatant evasion. If she hadn’t been there, he would have simply said “NO,” much like he had with Beatrix when she inquired about his past.
So, the fact that he started chiding her about Time and Place—
‘Means the future ‘me’ was there, huh?’
For a question she’d only asked to sate her curiosity, the answer was quite unexpected. Or was it?
“Are you guys done talking? ‘Cus it seems like she’s done summoning whatever she’d been cooking for a while now.”
Arthur interjected, pointing at the Saintess of Death who now had a staggering amount of Death energy seeping from her.
“Huh? She’s done?”
Evan replied, his attention shifting as he scanned the scene. Just then, Beatrix who had re-joined them around the same time as Artemisia finally asked.
“Why were you both waiting for her to finish her summoning?”
In the time Evan spent discussing his fiancée and Artemisia pressed him with questions, they could have easily interrupted Idrilla’s ritual.
But they did not.
Arthur and Evan exchanged glances before answering Beatrix in unison
“”Because it’s fun?””
Both girls facepalmed in exasperation, sighing at their responses, while Arthur and Evan chuckled, turning their focus back to Idrilla, who was now swinging her scythe to cleave the ground.
The Saintess consumed a massive portion of her harvested souls, converting them into the energy needed to resurrect these ‘Notable Adversaries.’
‘Spirits of the mightiest fallen, heed the command of Death’s Saintess.
Rise from the abyss, join this final stand, and avenge yourselves by Death’s Decree.’
The earth began to tremble violently, and the remaining tombstones shattered into fragments of light that scattered into the air.
Arthur’s lips curled as he sensed this.
If Idrilla could resurrect those he had slain, one particular foe would surely return—after all, it hadn’t been long since their battle.
The strongest opponent Arthur had killed to date.
Evan, Artemisia, and Beatrix felt the tremors intensify and sensed the colossal energy building beneath them.
Without hesitation, they leapt away, putting distance between themselves and the monstrous entity that Idrilla had summoned.
Suddenly, the ground beneath Arthur cracked open, revealing a gaping maw lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth, threatening to snap shut around him.
Arthur evaded the trap, drawing his sword as he locked eyes with the massive dark green eye glaring back at him.
“I’ve been waiting for you, Crarox!!”
[DIVINE DEMONNN!!!!!]
The ‘Legacy of Yedrist’ roared in fury, clawing his way back from the afterlife, intent on dragging Arthur down into the depths with it.
◇ ◇ ◇
Evan was unfazed as the massive leviathan, stretching a staggering two kilometres long, erupted from the ground and charged toward Arthur.
Given Idrilla’s capacity to resurrect foes that Arthur had slain, summoning Crarox was expected.
He also wasn’t surprised when Danger Sense blared an alarm in his head. Without hesitation, he spun clockwise, extending his right hand, where golden chains materialized, summoned by his Everlasting Chain skill.
The chains wrapped around Artemisia and Beatrix behind him and with his full strength, augmented by his Adamantine Might skill, he hurled them out of the way.
His left hand shot up in front of his face, and the Gazebind Aegis, the eight-sided shield manifested in an instant, just as three beams of powerful light—yellow, blue, and white—slammed into it simultaneously.
***BOOOMMM!!!!
The force behind the triple-combo attack was immense, and despite the BoD being active, Evan was driven back, his feet carving deep grooves into the earth as he skidded several meters.
The beams finally relented, and as the dust settled, he lowered the shield. His lips twitched involuntarily as he locked eyes with the three figures who had attacked him.
First among them was a towering wyvern with menacing yellow eyes. Its gleaming black scales shimmered under the ambient light, while its wings stretched wide.
Next was a majestic bird, its feathers as white as freshly fallen snow, adorned with intricate silver patterns. With a wingspan nearly a hundred meters wide, it radiated an aura of regal strength, its piercing gaze locked onto Evan, every bit as sharp as its beak and talons.
Finally, was a familiar white creature, one that had shown up earlier today.
Now, it had returned, empowered and far more dangerous.
Its pristine scales were so white they seemed almost holy.
The creature’s massive body dwarfed the other two, and its razor-sharp claws looked capable of slicing through solid buildings as if they were made of paper. A spiked tail swayed behind it, while its wings unfurled, casting a vast shadow over the ground below.
Its ice-blue eyes coldly glazed at Evan, blazing with intensity.
“Demonic Wyvern Craitid, Silverwing: Ice Variant, and High Dragon Faldo… I always wanted a rematch, but I sure as hell can’t take on the three of you at once.”
Evan spoke, summoning his sword and settling into a battle stance before continuing.
“I’m gonna have to Break My Limits here.”
His words were laced with a skill activation. The magic stones in the Energem Reclaimer glowed as Limit Break began draining energy from them.
Though his body creaked slightly under the strain of the numerous boosts, he wasn’t finished yet.
‘Limit Break Derivative: Overload!’
The boost surged from threefold to fivefold.
His body then transformed, the white highlights in his dark hair shimmering as two horns burst forth from his skull, pulsating with potent magic power.
Translucent white-gold scales enveloped him like a suit of battle armour, protecting his chest, shoulders, and vital areas.
From his back, a single pair of white wings unfurled, their sleek, membrane-like structure partially adorned with opalescent scales.
Emerging from his lower back was a scaled tail with a spiked tip coated in destructive essence.
His pupils transformed into vertical slits, while his irises maintained their stormy grey hue, the glowing Mystic Symbol radiating a golden light.
A wild grin stretched across his face, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth.
“Let the long-awaited rematch…BEGIN!!]
With that thunderous declaration, Evan launched himself at the three colossal creatures, their lethal intent matching his own as they charged forward.
◇ ◇ ◇
From a distance, Artemisia observed the massive explosions rippling across half the Bounded Field as Evan battled the three winged creatures high in the air.
With each detonation, she felt her energy depleting at an alarming rate.
Within moments, nearly half of her magic power had been drained away, prompting Beatrix, who sensed the shift, to turn to her in alarm.
“Arty?! What’s happening?!”
“…Evan…”
“what?”
“…Evan is using my power…”
Artemisia muttered, her voice distant as she stared blankly in Evan’s direction.
She had used her Queen of Evolution skill to temporarily grant Evan base power that was somewhere in the limbo between the Epic and Legendary Levels.
But now, as Evan activated his Limit Break skill, he was amplifying that evolved power even more.
At the same time, Evan was drawing out even more of Artemisia’s evolution power to evolve himself, but he wasn’t doing this consciously.
His Adaptive Evolution skill was at work, enhancing his Vessel to accommodate all the boosted power, enabling him to fight without restriction.
In that process, it was also ‘Evolving’ other aspects of his existence.
Take his Draconic side, for example. Evan had initially lacked a tail in his Draconic form, but now, one had emerged…bringing him closer to a real Draconic form.
“I see…the power of Evolution that my future self gave him is activating, but since it cannot consume his energy as he’s in a fight, it’s taking energy from me instead.
To it, both ‘Artemisias’ are the exact same person so it doesn’t matter which one it takes from.”
Her analysis was spot on.
The Adaptive Evolution skill was not sentient; it couldn’t differentiate between the future, Deity Level Artemisia and the current Epic Level version of herself.
And that posed a significant problem. The current Artemisia didn’t possess enough energy to sustain the skill’s activation for long.
Desperately, she downed a magic potion, hoping that Evan could wrap things up quickly before the skill drained her completely.
◇ ◇ ◇
Silverwing’s wings flared, feathers gleaming with frost. It let out a chilling screech, sending a fusillade of jagged icicles raining down at supersonic speeds.
Faldo, not to be outdone, used Molten Frostbite to send a wave of his paradoxical flames roaring towards Evan in a wall of white-hot fire and glacial-blue energy.
Craitid bellowed from behind, the ground beneath Evan quaking as the wyvern hurled massive projectiles of fire and earth.
Faced with this combo, Evan vanished, teleporting just as the combined attacks obliterated the spot where he’d stood.
The ice crumbled into nothingness, fire and molten rock splintering the frozen ground into an inferno of chaos.
He reappeared several metres above them, floating in the air while rousing his energy for an attack.
Seeing as he’d dodged their attack, Silverwing screeched in fury, flapping its wings to summon a blizzard that whipped across the battlefield.
The winds howled louder, and the temperature plummeted, but Faldo and Craitid didn’t wait for the aftermath.
Faldo’s wings flared wide, activating his Unique Skill—Annihilus Ascendance—and skipping straight to the second stage: Ephemeral Cataclysm.
His body glowed with Annihilation law essence as he charged forward, razor claws slicing through the storm. From behind, Craitid roared again, conjuring a three-ringed circle of yellow fire.
[Flamebourne’s Revenge!]
The spell pierced through the storm like a spear of vengeance and Evan blocked it with an Elemental Shield, dispersing the attack into a harmless shower of sparks.
But before he could respond, Silverwing flew in close, having realised that its ice blizzard wasn’t affecting Evan much.
The Bird stomped on Faldo’s head, using Faldo as a boost. It knocked the dragon down as it charged towards Evan and used Frost Nova, unleashing a massive shockwave of freezing energy.
The blast caught Evan mid-air, but the boy simply switched the element of his Elemental Sheild from Ice to Fire, resulting in him being completely unharmed.
“Let’s see if you can handle the heat.”
Evan spoke as he teleported behind Silverwing, swinging his sword down and using a Unique Skill right off the bat.
“World Sunder!”
The destructive flames from Evan’s slash tore through Silverwing’s dense feathers, ripping into flesh as blood sprayed through the air. Silverwing’s massive form plummeted downward, colliding directly with Craitid, who had been preparing a fiery breath attack below.
“You know, this would be way more impressive if you weren’t tripping over each other.”
Evan remarked dryly, watching the tangled heap of wyvern and monster bird.
As the two crashed toward the ground, Evan raised his hand, conjuring an arsenal of frostfire weapons through Elemental Weapon Projection.
