The short mystery of the Goos was solved rather quickly, as Pyuku analyzed living specimens and even tried to communicate with them, finding out they were too different to be called Slimes, and were indeed beings born in this world and not created by the Gods. They were simply convergently evolved monsters that resembled slimes, but whose appearances were still more hideous.
Slimes were often small, not bigger than a meter of height, they were round and cute, their tenacles were more like small fingerless arms that looked adorable, and they didn’t have creepy floating eyes around their bodies, or a core either, they were simply much more compressed and refined in appearance.
Meanwhile, Goos looked like messes, they couldn’t quite stay in any shape and were always moving while splattering everywhere. they had a floating core inside of them, a monster core made out of crystalized mana which is the same as most monsters.
And they also had sharp toothed jaws and floating eyeballs around their bodies, their tentacles were very long and weirdly creepy, and nobody in their right minds would hug one of these things, unless they wanted to get eaten.
“In a way, Slimes are much slimmer, rounder, and cuter, they’re also more refined and aren’t violent,” Pyuku said. “Although they cannot communicate like the rest of the tribes, they are intelligent and can talk through writing and signals using their tentacles. Goos are just monsters that attack anything, my kind is very peaceful and would never dare attack other people.”
“I see, so that settles it then!” Nodded Aquarina. “This means we can exterminate them all we want, right? Hehehe…”
“W-Wait!” Agua stopped Aquarina as she was about to kill the Goos she captured. “Please, the Goo are an important part of our ecosystem. Their slime contains revitalizing properties and every night they walk out of the caves and go into the jungles to feed on small animals and critters. Their slime fills the soil with nutrients, keeping it from drying out.”
“S-So I can’t hunt a few?” Aquarina asked, looking a bit surprised. “But one almost killed you Agua… They’re dangerous.”
“I know but they’re also very important…” Agua said. “Unless there’s an overpopulation, it should be recommended to keep them around, as many as possible and- Uwah!”
She was surprised when two more Goos tried to jump over her head again, she swiftly evaded them both, but then they tried using their tentacles to reach her legs.
“Nooo! Get away from me!”
She swung her staff and then released a Boiling Water Stream, killing both Goos on the spot!
BOOOM!
“A-Ah…”
She sighed in relief, while looking a bit embarrassed at the same time.
“Huh? You killed two more…” Aquarina pointed out. “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine…” Agua sighed. “Um, okay, let’s see… Uh, there might be an overpopulation problem now that I think about it.”
The Mini Sun that Silvia conjured illuminated the entire cave and the spring, revealing thousands of Goo everywhere, they were all stuck together, wiggling and groaning, their eyeballs and tentacles pointed at them.
“How much is an overpopulation?” Aquarina asked, preparing to battle.
“Over five hundred are too many… If there’s too many they might end up eating too many of our crops or perhaps the smaller animals or insects’ other animals need to eat,” Agua said.
“Okay and there’s… how many?” Aquarina quickly realized there were roughly three thousand Goos everywhere in this long, gigantic cave. “Over three thousand! Nice! Maybe I can squeeze a few levels out of this! Let’s get it started!”
“W-Wait, please don’t go overboard!” Agua panicked as she saw Pyuku, Silvia, and Justicio jumping down into the cave below. “Don’t kill too many! Leave at least half alive?”
“But you said no more than five hundred!” Aquarina smiled. “So I’m going crazy! Heheh! Don’t worry!”
Aquarina’s body rapidly transformed, as she gained icy draconic scale armor, and she leaped into battle first, Silvia and Justicio glancing from afar in surprise.
“Wait Aquarina!”
They panicked as they saw her entering into a giant “sea” made of hundreds of Goos stuck together, their acidic slime about to engulf her.
SPLAAASH!
They devoured Aquarina’s entire body, as they saw her body disappear within the slime, most likely dissolved.
“Nooo!”
Silvia screamed in horror, as Justicio gritted his teeth.
“She’s fine…”
“Eh?”
Silvia felt embarrassed she screamed so dramatically.
“She’s such a monster… I was actually worried about the monsters. I hope we can leave five hundred alive at least.”
“What do you mean with- Huh?!”
Silvia gasped as she saw the wave of goo freezing solid and then…
Crack, crack…!
CRAAASH!
Exploding into pieces, hundreds of Goos were frozen and then destroyed into tiny pieces.
Aquarina emerged from the pile of frozen slimy bits, facing the other Goos coming her way.
They were mostly all Tier 4, but there were some at Tier 5, and very rarely, some at Tier 7!
However, against Aquarina currently?
They were nothing but fodder.
“Come on guys! Are you going to come hunting with me? If you take too long I’m going to get them all for myself!”
As she said that, a huge Tier 7 Goo King emerged from the other Goos, roaring angrily and unleashing several downpours of acid at her.
“HAAAH!”
Aquarina swung her fists forward, summoning a huge trident made of blue crystals and metal and beautifully decorated with gold, Undine’s Spirit Weapon Form, and piercing the incoming acid with it.
“{Ocean’s Wrath}!”
BOOOMMM!!!
A giant cannon of pure spiraling, highly pressurized water destroyed the acid and then blew up the Goo King into pieces in an instant, leaving nothing behind.
“They’re easy to kill so come and join me already!” Aquarina said. “Agua, you too! You need to get stronger!”
“O-Okay, fine…!” Agua nodded nervously. “I’ll have to supervise how many are killed on my own then!”
“Fine, fine!” Silvia smiled, rushing forward. “Time to test my ability to duplicate Soul Weapons!”
She summoned two Soul Hammers at once, while several parts of her body mostly her legs, arms, and back, were covered by golden and white mechanical armor, Khepri’s spiritual power.
“Alright!” Justicio nodded. “Time to test how much I’ve grown… You too, Goldie!”
He transformed, gaining golden colored insectoid armor, while his spirit, Goldie, grew up to ten times its original size, rolling over the goos and crushing them with its sharp metallic spikes.
“Wow, what a mess…” Pyuku sighed.
