Chapter 1677: Golden Dish
—–
Once Agua opened the lid of the pot, what was revealed left everyone there flabbergasted, the delicious hot pot that she prepared using the meat of the strongest creature they battled, a Tier 8 monster, seemed to have leveled up this dish to a completely unseen realm!
She had stated that she knew how to conjure Cooking Magic, and that she was taught about it at a young age, so she had applied it to her cooking, which gave birth to this incredible, delicious-looking stew. With a thick red colored soup due to the tomato sauce she added, with small chunks of purple and yellow roots resembling potatoes, small pieces of onion, garlic, and many other spices, alongside the big, generous chunks of white colored meat, which had been gently fried before adding into the stew, and had a nice, toasty color on top.
FLAAASH!
Such a beautiful and delightful, yet simple looking dish released a bright gold and red aura resembling magical flames made of fiery spiritual energy, the dish Agua had cooked was nothing short of extraordinary!
“W-Woah! The food has an aura? What’s going on?”
Agua was confused, and so was Silvia and Justicio, who had never seen this phenomenon before, Aquarina had seen it a few times too, it was when a delicious dish was prepared using very high-level ingredients, such as the meat of dragons or Tier 8 and above creatures.
However, it wasn’t something common even with such ingredients, meaning that Agua was “blessed by the gourmet spirits”, which were spirits believed to govern over the “element” of food or gourmet, theorized to exist due to the existence of Cooking Magic.
After all, it has already been proven that, although not naturally, Alchemy Spirits do exist, so the existence of Cooking/Gourmet Spirits was also speculated. Investigation hasn’t been done too much though, from what she knows, but it is said that the best chefs in the world can produce this phenomenon, and that their food ends up becoming an incredible elixir that not only recovers energy and mana but can even permanently make stronger those that eat it.
“Amazing, Agua! You actually created a Golden Dish!”
“G-Golden Dish? What’s that?”
“It is a special sort of phenomenon that can happen when you use Cooking Magic on high level ingredients! I guess the Ant Queen’s meat of Tier 8 was just barely enough!”
“Woah, but that’s… how is this possible? I am not even that good at cooking myself… I usually cook but not this level of dishes…”
“I know, the dish by itself is very simple too, it seems you might’ve been blessed by Cooking Spirits, or perhaps your own attunement with the Spiritual Realm due to your Physique allowed you to have this ability or increased the chances for this to happen.”
“Ooh…”
Agua was still surprised, without really knowing or understanding well what Aquarina meant even after she had an explanation just now.
“So what does that mean? Is the food special now?” Justicio asked.
“Yeah, once food of this quality has a golden glow, it means they are very powerful dishes whose energies and essence can remain permanently in our bodies,” Aquarina said. “Meaning that it can make us stronger!”
“Wait, what? Really?! Can we become stronger by eating stew?! That’s crazy!” Silvia said. “Then let’s get to eating already!”
Agua nodded, serving the stew to everyone while she talked with Aquarina.
Aquarina explained to her pretty much anything she knew about “Golden Dishes” and the speculation about a “Gourmet” or “Cooking” Spirit.
If Alchemy Spirits existed, then most magicians thought that somewhere, there could be Cooking or Food Spirits, but that they were so rare that only those attuned with the Spiritual Realm and that were exceptional cooks that put their heart and love into the dishes they made could ever receive their favor.
“I had no idea such things were real… or existed! I’m glad now that my mother taught me Cooking Magic, I remember I had a hard time with it because the magic circles are so complicated,” Agua said while tasting the stew with a spoon. “Hmm?! T-This is way too good! So flavorful!”
Indeed, as everyone tasted the stew, they all agreed. The thick broth had all the flavor of the meat, giving it a smoky, slightly spicy, sweet, and savory flavor all combined wonderfully with the taste of shrimp, crab, and lobster, and even a bit of fish there!
The ants weren’t even aquatic monsters, yet their meat had a very strong seafood flavor for some reason. Aquarina imagined this was because they ate a lot of Water Spirit Stones in between the Fire Spirit Stones they consumed by digging underground.
They probably also ate some other ore, meaning that they ate fossilized fish bones, and most likely corals and other hard-shelled creatures, they seemed to eat almost anything but fancied such things.
“The flavor is incredible, and we just recently ate that lobster the other day too…!” Silvia smiled, eating the stew and filling her mouth with the potatoes, onion chunks, meat, and the tasty broth.
“Hmm, I already finished my plate…” Justicio muttered, shocked. “T-This is too good, can I have some more, Agua? Please?”
“Of course! I ended making way too much so I hope everyone has the stomach to eat it all up!” Agua nodded. “Oh, maybe we could save some for my mom…!”
“Sure!” Aquarina nodded. “Now let me have seconds!”
“Me too!” Silvia said.
Like that, Agua had to serve everyone seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths, and sixths, until the entire stew was gone. She had thankfully saved a little on another smaller pot for her mother to taste.
Although the effect wasn’t instant, after everyone chatted and rested for thirty minutes, their auras suddenly exploded with power, and the quantity of Mana they possessed suddenly began to increase.
What’s more, their Physiques developed at lightning speed, and both their musculature and magic power levels skyrocketed.
FLUOSH!
“Woah…! It is really making us stronger!” Silvia said.
“My Mana almost doubled?!” Justicio wondered.
“Oooh…! I feel so strong and revitalized now, this is a miracle…” Agua said.
“Not bad…” Aquarina nodded.
