“So what’s this place even called?” Aquarina wondered, as she and her friends started climbing the large cliffs, jumping from one place to another, or using their incredibly strong hand grips to grab upon the stone.
Thankfully the cliffs were very varied in shape, and not at all completely slim, there was even a path from the stone coming out from the walls, which they were using to jump from one place to another, and sometimes, when the next platform was too high, they would climb normally, even when the surface they were climbing on was almost completely vertical.
“Ah, it’s called Windy Cliffs!” Said Agua. “A pretty normal name I would say. I’ve heard that there’s a lot of flying monsters around here, though we have yet to encounter any.”
“Our Auras should keep them away I presume,” Justicio said.
“Unless there’s monsters brave enough to not care about Auras, or if they’re stronger than us!” Silvia said with a nod.
She was right ahead of Justicio, sometimes resting her butt over his head, which annoyed him from time to time.
“Silvia just climb already, stop sitting on my head…”
“A-Ah! Sorry, I got a bit tired…”
Silvia blushed in embarrassment, rushing up as quickly as she could, resembling a little spider.
Justicio looked at her climbing, her backside, specifically.
“Ugh…”
As he felt slightly embarrassed, he looked elsewhere and climbed without looking up, as he didn’t want to look at her backside and get… well, unneeded reactions.
“Come on Justicio, hurry! We’re already up here!”
Aquarina, Agua, and Pyuku were the ones that climbed the fastest. Especially Pyuku and Agua, who used their aquatic body parts to easily stick to the stone and climb, sometimes extending long tentacles made of water and using them to lift themselves as high as possible.
“Eh?! You guys are way too quickly!”
Justicio got slightly frustrated, beginning to climb faster and faster, using his arms and feet as better as he could. His magic allowed him to easily create small stones attached to the walls of the cliff to get higher and higher.
Crack, crack…!
“Hm?”
CRASH!
However, as he was about to make it, Justicio noticed a part of the cliff breaking down and falling!
“Aaah!”
He panicked, rapidly kicking the air with his aura and jumping to the other side.
“Phew…”
He looked at the cliff, and how high they had climbed by now, hundreds of meters high!
“I think I should be able to survive the fall but it still kind of scary…”
As he was about to stand up and follow the group, however…
“CRAAAAH!”
“Eh?!”
His eyes widened, as out of nowhere, a giant bird loomed above him, perhaps hearing the noise of a part of the cliff falling, the creature sprang out of wherever it came from, rushing down at Justicio.
“The hell is that thing?!”
The bird didn’t look like any other type of bird Justicio had seen before, it was huge, its wingspan alone was perhaps over ten meters in length.
What’s worse, its head was massive, and it had a giant, sharp and long beak that resembled a spear, with a pointy, metallic-looking tip.
Its feathers were brown, black, and white colored, seemingly a good color to camouflage with the cliffs themselves.
The creature wasn’t scared by his Aura either, rushing down at him, as its gigantic beak attempted to crush him.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
“Ah, shit!”
Justicio leaped away barely in time, quickly taking his axe, which was attached to the back of his body with several leather belts, and then swung it at the beast, as his Aura converged with his attack.
“HAAAAH!”
CLAAASH!
The beast’s beak clashed against his sharp axe, for a second, the two seemed even! However, Justicio stepped forward, putting more force to the axe and then.
CRASH!
He managed to slice the whole beak of the creature right off! Blood splattered everywhere, as the bird, now looking horribly disfigured without its beak, let out agonizing cries and began flying away.
“Cryaaagh!”
As the bird flew away, Justicio sighed, grabbing the beak, which was as big as his body with his left hand, it was slightly rainbow-colored, although predominantly golden, the tip was silver colored, however.
“Woah, this beak’s pretty though…”
As he marveled over the little gift the creature left behind before escaping, Justicio heard footsteps from behind.
“Hey Justicio! Were you attacked? Was that a giant bird or something?”
Aquarina and Silvia reached him to check if he was fine, while Agua and Pyuku stayed higher, looking around for any potential attacker that could show up like the giant bird did.
“Ah! Yeah I’m fine, that thing was strong though, its beak almost overpowered my axe, but I managed to cleave it,” Justicio said. “Look! Isn’t this a cool beak? I wonder if I could make it a shield. Since the one that Aquarina gave to me is only borrowed…”
“Not a bad idea,” Aquarina nodded, looking at the beak. “Seems sturdy enough… Maybe it didn’t seem that way because your axe cleaved right through it, but your Axe has some orichalcum to it right? So it will obviously cut through most stuff easily, even if it has a little bit.”
“But what was that bird anyway?” Silvia asked. “It was huge! But it flew away so quickly it’s nowhere to be seen…”
“I couldn’t check it with my ability so I can’t tell what it was, but if it was strong enough to attack Justicio even when his aura was out, it was probably Tier 7 or 8… We better watch out, that’s not a weak monster,” Aquarina said. “Anyway, let’s go. I’ll save the beak for now, Justicio. We can make it into a shield later.”
“Sure! Thanks, Aquarina,” Justicio nodded.
The group quickly regrouped with Agua and Pyuku, who noticed no disturbances around the cliff, and then they continued their journey up.
However, the bird whose beak was cut was still glaring at them from afar, its crimson eyes glowing brightly with resentment.
“Craaahhh…”
