- Chapter 1736 1736: Banter Between Spirits

As Khepri couldn’t stop the tears while apologizing to Tethys, a figure hovered from afar, small and made of mostly mud, but with the shape of a cute princess with a crown made of red jewels.
“Heh~ Having trouble in paradise, goldie?”
“Eh?”
She looked behind, noticing the mud-like creature… It was a Spirit, and an overwhelmingly powerful one at that, a Tier 10 Spirit.
“Y-You’re…?!”
Khepri slowly floated towards her, returning to her smaller, scarab form.
“Name’s Smilkas! I guess we never had the time to introduce each other! But I think that between spirits we all have to get along and become friends, right?”
“U-Uuh… Yeah, I guess so? Your power… despite being so small you’re… Tier 10?!”
“Huhuhu, surprised?! I am Nepheline’s Spirit! I am a Gnome Spirit, but I am also the Mud Spirit Princess!” Smilkas said.
“Mud?” Khepri wondered. “I had no idea those could be spirits…”
“The Realm of Earth Spirits have many different types! There are Metal Spirits, Stone Spirits, Crystal Spirits, Mud Spirits, Soil Spirits, Sand Spirits, and even more! You could even say a Salt Spirit exist somewhere… And you’re a Sand Spirit, are you not? And Metal Spirit, Gold in specific!”
“I-I guess so, but I am also a Sunlight Spirit, I am a Great Spirit after all, I govern over more than one element!” Khepri acted slightly high and mighty.
“Hahaha! Is that so? Well that’s not really common!” Said Smilkas. “It could be said your core is that of a Sunlight Spirit while your external power is Sand and Gold. Pretty amazing, I haven’t seen one quite like you in a while!”
“Is that so…” Khepri muttered. “Huh?”
Suddenly, she noticed two other spirits walking towards Smilkas, a giant turtle and a golem-like creature made of crystals.
“Smilkas, did you had to fly away so quickly?” Sighed the Turtle Spirit.
“Hmm. This is the Oasis where that Great Oasis Spirit lives, right?” The giant Crystal Golem Spirit said.
“Ah, you guys are finally here! Yeah! Look I made a new friend already! Her name is Khepri, remember her?” Smilkas said.
“Oh yes, the young’un,” the turtle nodded.
“Hmm, it seems you’ve grown stronger since the last time we sensed your presence,” the golem said.
“H-Huh? Ah, yes…”
Khepri felt overwhelmed, the other two Spirits were also Tier 10!
“Don’t be afraid, we didn’t come here to bully you or something, we noticed the discussion going on and came to see what was happening…” the turtle said. “My name is Quake, I am an Earth Turtle Spirit.”
“And I am Crystallion, a Crystal Guardian Spirit,” the golem said. “We all belong to Nepheline, as we’ve been contracted with her since she was pretty much a child.”
“You’re Aquarina’s mom spirits! I-I see, she was a hero and all, makes sense now…” Khepri nodded. “Uh, well, unfortunately our talk with Tethys finished very quickly, and she’s gone… Sorry.”
“Tethys?” Quake wondered. “Ah, so that’s the name of the lass living here?”
“You may call her a lass, but if they’re truly as ancient as they say, they’re probably older than us, Quake,” Crystallion said. “Is that not right, Khepri?”
“I… maybe,” Khepri muttered. “I don’t know very well, but I am fairly sure Spirits already existed within the surface of this planet in the past…”
“So you already recall memories from such a long while ago? Wooow!” Smilkas was surprised. “Can’t you tell me more about those times? I’ve been always quite interested!”
“I… don’t recall that much though,” Khepri sighed, looking sad. “And I’m not really in the mood to talk too much either… I…”
“Hmm…”
“Was there a problem?”
Crystallion and Quake, much older than Smilkas, seemed worried about Khepri.
“Yeah… Ugh, Tethys is finally recalling some memories, but she acted so hostile… I don’t know what to do, we really need her help for tomorrow… I can feel it!” Khepri said. “If you want to help I’m grateful, but I doubt your presences here would make her act any differently. If anything she might only get angrier.”
“I see…” Quake nodded. “Quite the complicated relationship you’ve got with her… Has something between the two of you happened before this separation that made you this… hostile?”
“I wouldn’t say we are super hostile I mean… Maybe? I don’t know!” Khepri felt confused. “Aaagh, why does she have to be this way? I just wanted her help…”
“Hm, well, sometimes. We are more complicated deep inside than we often believe ourselves to be,” Crystallion explained. “We Spirits, because we live so long, oftentimes believe we are above the problems of mortals. Things such as depression, love, and so on… are still emotions we feel, as annoying as they might be.”
“Sometimes, we try to… Well, to reject them,” Quake explained. “Hm, it’s just how it is with young spirits… although you ma is not so young, your minds and personalities might be. Certainly, although you come from much more ancient times than we do, you didn’t actually live all that time while being conscious and experiencing new things, right?”
“I-I guess so…” Khepri sighed. “Is Tethys going through something like that then?”
“It’s usually hard to tell exactly what’s happening, but that is a big possibility,” Crystallion said.
“Do you guys have any idea what I can do?” Khepri asked.
“Waiting is the best thing you can do… Sometimes, we just need some time alone,” Smilkas said. “Right? I’m sure you got through her if you generated such reactions! Don’t worry… Let’s trust her.”
“But what if she doesn’t show up or doesn’t help?!” Khepri was panicking again.
“She has to,” Quake said.
“She is directly connected to the people here, if she doesn’t help, they might be destroyed by the foe we’ll battle tomorrow,” Crystallion added.
“Once she think things through and makes up her mind… She’ll have to either escape, or stay and fight,” Smilkas smiled. “And if she escapes… well, was she even worth being a friend to begin with?”
“Uhh…” Khepri sighed, looking down at the lake. “Tethys! I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow… Please, once everyone is ready… Please give me your response.”
Khepri touched the water gently, sending a few sparkles of light into it.
“I… I missed you.”
As she said that, she walked away with the other spirits, Smilkas did her best to cheer her up, and it helped a little.
“…”
While Tethys submerged into the Oasis’ depths, her eyes full of emotions she had never experienced before until now.
“Khepri…”
She looked up, seeing the sparkles of light left behind.
“I… missed you too…”
