Chapter 1739: A Mysterious Visitor?
—–
Aquarina hugged Sylphy, despite this being a nice moment, she knew it would end soon. But she didn’t want it to end soon.
Sylphy also felt the same, but she knew that they couldn’t just be sad about it, there were other things that they had to do, and she was sure they would meet again soon.
“Let’s have patience. I am sure that in a few more months, we should meet again. Have you done the inheritance trial yet?” Sylphy wondered.
“Ah…!” After hearing her, however, Aquarina fell silent for a moment.
Sylphy was confused, wondering why she was acting this way out of nowhere.
And well…
“Wait, you haven’t?!”
Silence again, accompanied by Aquarina embarrassedly admitting she haven’t completed her damned trial.
“N-No… Not yet.” She muttered. “B-But it’s because we’ve been training with my friends and preparing… and then this whole thing happened- Ah right! We were talking about what was going to happen tomorrow, right?”
“Oh yeah, you said you were worried, right?” Sylphy wondered. “Sorry, I ended getting distracted…”
“It’s fine, I enjoyed going to the lake with you…” Aquarina smiled, holding Sylphy’s hand. “Well, there’s a lot going on… as I told you before, it is regarding… a lot of things honestly! These Dry Steppes sure don’t calm down for a second. Okay so let me explain things shortly…”
Aquarina spent a minute explaining to Sylphy what she had gone through as quickly and resumed as possible. Her girlfriend constantly got happier when she heard Aquarina had made so many new friends.
Whenever she mentioned Silvia, Justicio, Agua, and even Quetzalcoatl, Sylphy’s eyes would shine very brightly.
“I’m so happy you’ve made so many new friends, Aquarina! I always knew you needed a little push to make many more…!” Sylphy giggled while nodding happily as she heard her.
“E-Eh? I mean… Yeah I’m… I’m glad too,” Aquarina muttered, feeling embarrassed. “It always felt like most of my friends were just your friends first… But now I know I could make them on my own.”
“W-What? Of course they’re your friends too, Aquarina… they all love you!” Sylphy got slightly angry. “Geez, don’t say such things like that… Well, you might be a bit… Um, rowdy sometimes, with other people, but they’re used to that already!”
“R-Rowdy?” Aquarina was a bit confused.
“A-Ahaha, don’t mind it! You’ve clearly changed a lot… Maybe having all those friends have made you… Hmm, become nicer?” Sylphy didn’t hold back with her words.
“Ahh…” Aquarina, however, knew she had a bad attitude most of the time, or, well, not a nice enough one most of the time. “Yeah… I mean… you’re not wrong.”
“You’re a good girl, Aquarina, well done…” Sylphy patted Aquarina, knowing she was a bit too shy sometimes to talk about these things. “You’ve worked hard, and you’ve matured and grown as a person. Even if we’ve only talked this little, I can tell~! My Aquarina has become even more incredible.”
“Sylphy… And you… you’ve become so motherly…” Aquarina was slightly surprised, although she didn’t hate it.
“M-Motherly? A-Ahahah… Is that so?” Sylphy felt embarrassed, perhaps her mental age was around that age.
“Well not completely you still are a bit childish sometimes…” Aquarina said.
“Eh?!” Sylphy felt hurt with those words.
“But in a nice and cute way, hahah! Did you think I was reprimanding you?” Aquarina giggled, kissing her forehead. “I think were perfect the way you were before, and even now, you’re still perfect.”
“Perfect… I wouldn’t say I’m perfect…” Sylphy sighed. “We all have our own flaws we can’t escape from… Only with the support of others can we overcome them. If we were truly perfect, life would be kind of boring, right?”
“Ah…” Aquarina heard Sylphy talking, surprised. “Y-Yeah! I guess? Hahaha! You always start talking stuff like that out of nowhere. You’ve always been quite the philosopher, huh?”
“P-Philosopher? I just overthink things a lot, that’s all… Maybe that’s one of my flaws? Haha!” Sylphy giggled. “Sooo… You were telling me about your friends and what has been happening over there. There’s this Khepri spirit that’s been collecting the fragments of her mechanical armor? And she’s an Ancient Spirit made by the Gods? I wish Nephilim was with me, I might ask her about these things.”
“She isn’t?” Aquarina asked.
“No, remember? She went with my brother on his own little journey. He went with mom, Mist, and Lara,” explained Sylphy.
“Oh yeah!” Aquarina nodded. “Now I remember. Then Celica and Celeste went with you, and the boys on their own, huh?”
“Hmm! I wish I could know how they’re doing… but I’m fairly sure they’re all fine,” Sylphy smiled with a nod. “I bet they made a lot of friends as well, just like you did, Aquarina.”
“Y-Yeah… I hope they’re all doing fine,” Aquarina said. “I kind of miss them too…”
“Me too…” Sylphy nodded. “So these Spirits… you’re saying they’re related with this monster you faced before?”
“Yeah… Khepri said that it could be an Ancient Spirit like her, or the Oasis Spirit, or the Spirit that Quetzalcoatl somehow… ate? I don’t know,” said Aquarina. “It’s complicated… And it was really strong. It has a powerful Divinity. It reminded me of Jupiter, but stronger. They have potent Psychic Powers on top of their Divinity, Spiritual Abilities, and control thousands of giants, powerful monsters.”
“It sure is quite the pickle, hmm… perhaps it could be a more tough opponent than the two false gods we battled,” Sylphy said.
“Maybe stronger than Lolth?” Aquarina was worried. “Our parents, even when they combined their power, struggled a lot against her…”
“Ah, yes…” Sylphy sighed. “But my dad has grown so strong since then… And also I bet yours have done so too! Can you tell me more about this entity? So I could calculate how far it could go.”
“Hm, okay… well…” Aquarina went on an on about possible feats, abilities, and the connection with the Ancient Spirits, based in how Khepri has lived so far and her many experiences.
Sylphy heard everything attentively, her eyes suddenly growing sharper as she began thinking about what this could truly be, and how strong it could be.
“It’s definitely Tier 10 at the very least,” she said. “Probably… as strong as Lolth when she descended upon Arachne.”
“So you think so too?” Aquarina sighed. “Ugh, I know I talked with Undine about this and all but… I’m worried.”
“Are you afraid?” Sylphy wondered, feeling worried.
“I-I’m not…!” Aquarina said, suddenly realizing that she was acting a bit too afraid of everything. “I just…”
Sylphy gently hugged her back, as she smiled at her.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll get through it. You, and your friends, are all super strong, right?” Sylphy said. “I wish I could give you System Seeds for them through here, but it doesn’t seem possible… But at the very least, I can give you a little help somehow.”
“Somehow?” Aquarina wondered.
“Yeah, over that lake, I sensed something, there’s a third living being with us right now,” Sylphy said. “I don’t know how they got in here, probably by accident because they’re inside of your Soulscape in a state of development.”
“W-What?” Aquarina was confused. “A third living being?”
“Yeah, but look, Aquarina… I know you can do it,” Sylphy suddenly said. “You’ve got all the strength you’ve cultivated so far. And you have all your friends, who are amazingly strong, mostly thanks to you and the help you’ve given to them! And then there’s your parents, super strong as well! If they love you, then I am sure they’ve been training nonstop, right?”
