Chapter 1741: Blessing
—–
“Look at your face! You’re so shocked. Of course I’m joking!”
“You little…!”
Aquarina’s face turned red, blushing, as she jumped onto Sylphy and started tickling her belly, then her neck and armpits.
“Hahaha! Stop that! Hehehe! I was just messing with you! Hahah!”
“You little cute baby girl! I’m going to eat you up! Nom, nom!”
Aquarina embraced her, and the two rolled down the hill toward the shore and then into the lake!
SPLAAASH!
“Uwaack!”
“Eeeh?!”
Shocked by the cold water, they gasped for air while swimming back to the surface.
“Haaah. Haahh.”
“Haaahh.”
As they looked at one another, they burst into giggles, laughing carefree.
“Hahahaha!”
“Heheh!”
As they laughed and splashed in the water some more, Sylphy eventually led Aquarina deeper into the lake.
“Is it in here?”
“Yeah! I can feel it around here.”
“But what is it? And what are we planning to do with it?”
“I can influence this place a little. So I want to try something new.”
“Something new?”
“Yep, there it is.”
Aquarina manifested her Beast Aura, and a giant claw retrieved something from the depths: a white and blue egg.
“Eh? That’s… oh, it’s the egg of my new familiar! It hasn’t hatched though,” Aquarina said.
“So this was it, huh?” Sylphy wondered. “What is this exactly?”
“It’s the egg of an Oasis Wyrm,” Aquarina explained. “We hunted one causing trouble in a small oasis, and it turns out it was protecting its egg. I felt bad, so I decided to bring it over and made a familiar contract with it. I’ve heard Wyrms are Dragon-type monsters, right?”
“Yeah, I can feel it has a strong draconic aura. Almost like Leviathan but also different,” Sylphy said. “It has also absorbed your powers over time, so it’s changing and evolving accordingly. Look how there’s a black, scaled eggshell on the other side.”
Sylphy showed Aquarina the whole egg. The other half was covered with black, metallic scales, something the egg didn’t have before. Aquarina’s powers had influenced the egg and the Wyrm inside in more ways than one.
“Oh wow.” Aquarina caressed the scales. “They’re as hard as metal!”
“Yeah, this is how you’ve influenced it,” Sylphy said. “And now I’ll give the baby a little gift: my Blessing.”
“Blessing?” Aquarina asked.
“Yeah, the Divinities I got from the two False Gods have grown stronger now. I can grant Blessings,” Sylphy explained. “I’ve given them mostly to the people of my Dungeon, remember the plant people?”
“Oh, yeah!” Aquarina nodded. “How have they been?”
“Fine. They’re fine now, but a lot happened. We lost Bark,” Sylphy sighed. “And, well, I should have told you this already, huh? Curse, remember him?”
“Your spirit?” Aquarina asked.
“Yes. He died,” Sylphy said, her voice heavy. “When I was attacked by the creations of the Evil God of Dungeons, my body was infected by Demonic Miasma. My Mana Pathways and even the connection between my Soul and my Body were becoming loose. To adapt to this power, he sacrificed himself, allowing me to evolve and refine my Spiritual Heart. That way, I could control these energies and, well, not let them kill me.”
“What?!” Aquarina was shocked. “Sylphy, you should’ve told me before. So Bark and Curse… it all happened then? Dammit! Why wasn’t I there? I should’ve helped.”
“It’s been over a year since then,” Sylphy said with a light smile. “Bark and Curse both passed away doing what they wanted. They sacrificed themselves so everyone else could win. Without their sacrifice, something much worse would’ve happened. I’ve mourned them a lot already. But, yeah, it’s hard. It’s still hard.”
“Sylphy.”
Aquarina hugged her girlfriend, realizing she had lost two people she loved dearly yet still acted strong, cheering her up.
She felt a pang of guilt, having been caught up in her own insecurities when someone right in front of her had gone through so much worse, yet remained cheerful, happy, and hopeful for the future.
“I’m sorry. I was a hypocrite. You’ve gone through so much compared to me,” Aquarina sighed.
“You’re not a hypocrite! It’s alright, Aquarina. We all go through our own personal problems. Just because someone has gone through something different doesn’t mean your problems are insignificant or don’t matter,” Sylphy said. “Anyway, let’s move on. Once we meet again, we can talk about all these things, alright?”
“Yeah.” Aquarina nodded. “Um, that egg?”
“I’ll give the egg and you a blessing,” Sylphy said. “Heheh! It’s become a bit stronger after a year. It’s now Level 5! It will give an overall boost to stats and even grant stronger affinities to Fire, Light, and Sunlight. And something else, I think. Ah, right, Thunder!”
“That sounds really strong!” Aquarina said. “A Fire Elemental Affinity. Silvia and Justicio have something strong related to it, like they can absorb and adapt to it to control it more easily. Water is good against fire, but being able to control it could also offset a lot of its power.”
“Yeah, but there’s more. This blessing I’ll give, well, can’t you see it in your status? You already have my blessing. Heheh! Technically, I could be called a little goddess,” Sylphy said with a proud smile.
Although in the past Sylphy didn’t like the idea, she had started calling herself one just to mess around.
“Oh, right!” Aquarina nodded. “So you’re…?”
“I’ve been developing these powers mostly in secret. Slowly, I’m figuring out what it means to be a divine being and all,” Sylphy said. “I think I could help those I’ve double-blessed from afar through this power. It’s experimental, but it’s worth giving it a shot, right?”
“Definitely!” Aquarina nodded. “I wish you could be with me. But I’ll be fine with anything either way!”
“Alright then!” Sylphy nodded. “Prepare yourself, Aquarina. You and your egg will get double-blessed! And I’ll also combine it with my Divine Spiritual Blessing for extra stats and power.”
As Sylphy nodded, she touched the egg, which floated over the water, and Aquarina’s head.
“{Divine Blessing}!”
FLAAAASH!
