Chapter 1786: Monster Heroes
—–
Once Aquarina’s party descended the half-frozen ant nest, they arrived at the deepest layer, separated from the rest by an imposing door.
The group was fully assembled once more, all six members united. Nepheline and Shade confronted a massive, blazing gate that guarded the innermost sanctum of the labyrinth.
Remarkably, these ants had constructed an authentic, colossal door down there, forged from volcanic stone, still ablaze and radiating intense heat in all directions.
It appeared that the formidable spell unleashed by Aquarina, Agua, and Tethys had only reached this area, as the door’s searing heat remained undiminished.
Whatever lay beyond that door must be exceptionally powerful, capable of enduring such heat without succumbing to a spell of such elevated potency.
“Alright! You guys ready?” Aquarina stretched her legs and arms upon arrival, releasing Agua from her embrace. “Whatever is on the other side, it’s not going to be as easy as the rest.”
“Yeah!” Silvia and Justicio exclaimed in unison, advancing toward Aquarina and her parents alongside Agua.
“So the flames here weren’t extinguished, huh?” Nepheline mused, her sharp eyes scrutinizing the door.
“I suppose whatever awaits us on the other side is far stronger… Prepare yourselves,” Shade said, cracking his knuckles and stretching his arms one final time, bracing for the imminent challenge. “I can sense several lifeforms of an exceptionally high level.”
“Alright, this is it, team,” Aquarina declared. “Our final challenge before we claim that inheritance! Don’t hesitate. Whatever we face on the other side, we’ll tackle it together.”
“Sure…” Justicio nodded. He had taken time to steel himself mentally for what lay ahead, yet he still appeared apprehensive.
“Khepri, let’s do this,” Silvia said.
“Okay Silvia!” Khepri nodded.
“Quetzal already secured the third ornament…” Agua said. “He’ll retrieve the fourth swiftly and come as fast as he can! I hope he arrives in time to aid us.”
“I’m certain he will,” Nepheline said with a reassuring smile at Agua. “Okay, shall we?”
At her words, Aquarina and her companions nodded. Nepheline’s smile widened as she infused energy into her right arm, preparing a mighty blow.
With all her might, she struck the volcanic, blazing door, shattering it into countless fragments!
BOOOM!
The door disintegrated into pieces as flames scattered in all directions. A tremendous heat wave struck Nepheline’s body, yet she stood unscathed and resolute, entirely unaffected by the flames and heat.
“Well, well, would you look at this, we’ve got quite the company.”
What awaited them beyond the door were not the familiar ants they’d been battling but five immensely powerful presences. Amidst the inferno of fire, which rapidly dissipated under their emerging auras, the five figures materialized, slowly advancing toward the doorway.
“Huh, we might as well expand the battlefield. These guys aren’t holding back…” Nepheline said, swinging her arms to her left and right.
RUMBLE!
The walls surrounding the shattered gate crumbled, expanding the surroundings into a vast, arena-like expanse.
The stark contrast between the frozen side and the blazing, infernal side of the nest lent the area a striking appearance, as ice and fire spirit energies intermingled, creating a tense, fluctuating atmosphere.
As this unfolded, Aquarina and her friends gazed at the scene in awe, while Shade remained silent, his crimson eyes meticulously analyzing the five formidable individuals.
“Be cautious and stay together. Aquarina, you must protect them. These aren’t like anything you’ve faced before, kids. They’re Tier 9.”
“TIER 9?!”
Aquarina and her companions gasped in disbelief. Five Tier 9 enemies was beyond anything they had anticipated! At most, they expected one or perhaps two, but five, all at once.
Aquarina still recalled her first encounter with a Tier 9, a formidable servant of Arachne, an Insectoid Demon woman whose name she could no longer remember.
Yet she vividly remembered how overwhelmingly powerful she was, wielding a Soul Weapon and an Advanced Beast Aura.
Although these were supposed to be monsters… They appeared humanoid, starkly different from their ant siblings!
The first was the largest, towering fifteen meters, his muscular, humanoid body wreathed in flames, with massive arms and legs and a small head. His Advanced Beast Aura radiated a specialization in brute force above all else.
The second was tall and slender, with feminine curves. A queen, adorned with a crown of horns atop her head and piercing crimson eyes. Her Aura struck a perfect balance between Physical Power and Magical Power.
The third was the smallest, the size of an average adult human, clutching a spectral, spiritual book of its own creation, a Grimoire-type Soul Weapon. Though the little humanoid ant appeared almost endearing, its Magical Aura surpassed that of its siblings.
The fourth was the most average among them, with a robust, muscular, and armored insectoid body, six arms, each wielding a different Spirit Weapon. It seemed a balanced type like the previous queen but specialized in weapon techniques, its aura manifesting as an array of weapons and claws around its body.
The fifth, another queen with large, butterfly-like wings blazing in red and pink hues and a small crown of pink flames, only twice the size of the smallest, regarded them with disdain and an air of superiority… her aura was peculiar, radiating holy, spiritual, and divine power, as if she were…
“T-That’s…!” Nepheline’s eyes widened.
“They’re not normal at all!” Shade said. “They’re all Heroes?! And that’s…”
“A Saint?!” Aquarina gasped, staring at the one with butterfly wings. Her Aura was that of a Saint, blessed by a God.
Indeed, with the divine power their mother had acquired, she had harnessed the hundreds of thousands of souls of their fallen kin to imbue powerful divine blessings upon them, transforming her five strongest offspring into even mightier beings, Monster Heroes.
“Prepare yourselves, puny humans, for you shall pay for the insolence you’ve done to my family…” The butterfly-winged ant queen said. “We shall personally crush you in the name of our mother.”
“She can speak?!” Aquarina asked. “But she’s a damn monster and she can talk?!”
“Clearly, they aren’t just monsters anymore, Aquarina!” Khepri said. “Silvia, let’s do it quickly!”
“Aaah! Yes!” Silvia was panicking, but Khepri swiftly fused into her body, encasing her in massive mechanical armor of gold embedded with red jewels.
“So this is what that monster has been creating this entire time…” Nepheline sighed. “Good thing we came here.”
“Do you think they can handle these?” Shade asked.
“Aquarina? She could take on one alone. More than that, and it would get challenging. The kids will have to fight with everything they’ve got,” Nepheline said. “Quetzal is coming. He’s strong. He should be able to handle one as well… There are five, so we should manage if we each take on two. Quetzal better get here quickly, or he’ll miss out on the fun.”
