Chapter 1787: Intense Battle!
—–
“Very well, I’ll leave some protection on them just in case,” Shade said, his shadows moving through the entire area.
“Go, my siblings, kill them,” the Ant Queen Saint spoke, raising her small claws and pointing at the humans. “Crush them until nothing remains but their burnt corpses.”
Her Aura transformed, turning into a powerful spell that bolstered her siblings’ strength and magical power, and they charged forward.
The first two to reach them were the largest of the five, muscular and enormous. With his four gigantic, muscular arms, he unleashed a barrage of deadly blows.
His appearance reminded Nepheline of the mosquito-faced Insectoid Demon that attacked Agartha back then.
Thankfully, these monsters had no access to any Demon King fragment to transform into even stronger forms, but they were blessed and supported by a Saintess to enhance them.
“Maybe I’ll be able to go all out here… Though we better maintain our energy reserves, Shade. Their mother is still the one we came to kill! Her plan is probably to weaken us as much as possible!” Nepheline said.
“I know!” Shade nodded.
“I’LL CRUSH YOU TO DEATH, HUMANSSSSS!”
With a furious and loud roar, the first of the siblings reached Nepheline, unleashing a barrage of punches with his immense, armored fists blazing with spiritual flames.
“{Infernal Rush}!!!”
RUMBLE!
Nepheline’s eyes widened as her entire body was pummeled by hundreds of blazing punches, pushing her back constantly. Her armor of stone and crystals rapidly shattered, breaking into pieces.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
“HRAAAAAHH!”
With a monstrous shriek, the muscular ant swung all four of his fists down, unleashing a devastating hammer attack against Nepheline, crushing her into the ground and spreading cracks through the floor.
BOOOMMM!!!
An explosion of flames erupted right afterward, as everything became an inferno around him. Aquarina panicked slightly as she saw her mother disappearing amidst the inferno.
“M-Mom!”
As she cried out, something rapidly found her. Another of the ants, the slender, tall queen, rushed forward, her four arms striking Aquarina when she least expected it.
“Shit!”
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Her blows were different from her big sibling’s. Each strike released a powerful spiritual spell, generating huge explosions that absorbed Aquarina’s lifeforce and even her Mana.
“T-The fuck…?! She can drain my Mana and my life?!”
As Aquarina groaned, managing to protect her torso and head with her muscular arms and her Aura, she was thrown several meters away.
“Fufu, surprised, lowly vermin? This is the strength of us Blazing Ants. We are far superior to your ilk~” the Ant Queen laughed. “My Beast Aura is very special, tailored specifically to devour Mana and Life! Can you survive my onslaught?!”
“Heh, who do you think I am?!” Aquarina smiled defiantly, her entire body rapidly growing black scales. Although not fully transforming, she gained an armor of obsidian scales, her Aura of frost growing stronger. Then, she unsheathed her daggers, realizing it was better to fight with a weapon than to punch and risk being drained easily. “I’m going to crush your ugly bug face!”
“Ugly?! Mother says I am the second most beautiful of her daughters! Who are you calling ugly, you scaled chimpanzee?! KRIEEEEEHHH!” The Ant Queen grew furious after being insulted, charging recklessly against Aquarina without further planning.
“Wait, is she weak against insults? I can abuse this…!” Aquarina smirked, swiftly intercepting the incoming blows with her two black daggers, unleashing shockwaves of darkness and abyssal flames as their techniques clashed.
“{Soul-Draining Infernal Touch}!”
“{Abyssal Shadow Dagger Arts} + {Divine Poseidon’s Trident}!”
Aquarina combined her two skills, as she often did, manifesting a huge trident made of ice from her daggers and unleashing a devastating attack, freezing and piercing the hands of her adversary.
“{Ocean Knife Arts}: {Frost Trident}!”
CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!
“Uuuggh?!”
The Ant Queen saw her blood splatter everywhere as ice spread through her hands, suddenly slowing her down tremendously.
“Ice…?! This strong?! Impossible!!! KRIEEEEHHH!!!”
Frustrated, she screamed angrily. Her flames spread through her body, quickly melting the ice in her hands, while golden flames healed her wounds back to normal.
FLAAASH!
As Aquarina gritted her teeth, resisting the intense flames, she encompassed her body with an armor of ice dragon scales, courtesy of Leviathan, who had merged into her body.
“Yeah, much better… But that damn bitch, she’s healing her!”
She glanced into the distance. The Blazing Ant Saintess was encompassed in a powerful bubble-shaped barrier, constantly conjuring healing and buffing spells for her siblings.
“Prepare yourself!!!”
Her opponent gave her no time to breathe. Aquarina caught a glimpse of her friends. Agua, Silvia, and Justicio were fighting together as a team against another of the ants, the smaller magician one.
They were constantly running around, evading gigantic meteors and blazing swords, while trying to attack them, only to be pushed back by powerful space-distortion barriers around it.
“They can handle that if they work together…! But I can’t take my eyes off them for long…!”
As she saw her opponent approaching, she noticed the Ant Queen’s Aura transform, resembling a gigantic blazing snake that divided its head into many, a hydra!
“S H Y A A A A A G G G H !”
The Blazing Hydra Aura wasn’t just an illusion or for show. It had reached the Advanced Stage, becoming solid and powered by the user’s Mana, Spiritual Power, and Divine Blessing.
CRASH! CRASH! CRASH! CRASH!
Aquarina dodged some of the incoming bites, parrying the rest with her knives, unleashing consecutive techniques by combining her skills.
“{Ocean Knife Arts}: {Oceanus’ Divine Harpoon}!”
Her daggers transformed as ice and water combined to turn them into two enormous harpoons, piercing the heads of the snakes from her foe’s Aura and rapidly freezing their interiors. Aquarina released thunderbolts from her kicks in midair, destroying them one after another.
The power of her girlfriend’s divine equipment pieces, granted to her after she became a Saintess, was now proving invaluable. The sunlight didn’t do much damage, but thunder seemed particularly effective.
