Chapter 1790: Two Fighters That Continue To Evolve
—–
However, Aquarina’s equipment protected her from fire much better, all thanks to Sylphy’s blessing, allowing her to run through the flames and use her aura to shield herself further.
“You’re not running away anymore, right?! I’ll crush your damn skull!”
Aquarina’s right arm transformed, becoming a gigantic shadow arm overflowing with muscles, which she swung down, crystallizing it to a near-diamond level of hardness.
“And this is a new one!”
As she smiled, the giant fist rushed down, impacting the ant queen’s head with everything she had!
“{Black Diamond’s Hammer Fist}!!!”
CRAAASH!
“GUUUAAEEGGH?!”
The ant queen let out an agonizing shriek. Her aura shattered into pieces, and her head exploded, her eyes flying elsewhere as her entire body was flattened to the floor.
BOOOMMM!!!
A huge explosion erupted right after, leaving the ant queen’s body almost unrecognizable…
“Haa… Haaa… Fuck, that was… harder than I thought.”
Aquarina felt exhausted. This battle didn’t end up being as good as she had hoped. Almost half of her Mana reserves were consumed instantly by that damned monster.
“I gotta go help my friends…! Before— Ugh?!”
However, her eyes widened, realizing the ant queen’s claws were grasping her leg, absorbing her Mana and lifeforce.
“W-Wha…!?”
And then, she saw something truly horrifying.
FLUOSH!
The ant queen’s body rapidly regenerated to full health. Her skull, her eyes, her head—everything returned to normal.
A divine power revived her completely.
“T-That’s… Divine Protection?! Oh fuck no!”
Divine Protection, the ability every Hero possesses, varies in power depending on how strong their God is. It grants, at least once a day, the ability to fully survive a lethal attack and come back to life.
It was a free revival, and every Hero enjoyed it! It had saved Aquarina’s life before, as well as those of Sylphy, Lara, and Luck. It was a complete cheat-like ability, one that always terrified and frustrated their foes.
And now, Aquarina faced an enemy with the same ability.
“Where do you think you’re going, you damned human?! I am Mother’s Hero! I won’t fall so easily!!! GYAHAHAHAHAHA!”
Using the power she absorbed from Aquarina, her aura erupted, growing even stronger! Aquarina realized these ants could grow stronger through battle. The more they suffered and regenerated, the more their bodies “adapted and evolved,” perhaps part of their Divine Blessing ability.
“Let go of me!”
With a furious roar, Aquarina cut through the ant queen’s arm and then quickly kicked it toward her, as an explosion of black thunder and frost engulfed her foe.
BOOOM!
“My arm!!! You bitch!”
The ant queen roared angrily as she shook off the ice covering her body, leaping toward Aquarina! Her Divine Beast Aura evolved, transforming into dozens of insectoid claws rushing toward Aquarina at lightning speed.
“Your delicious Mana and Lifeforce will be all mine!”
“{Divine Soul Draining Touch Arts}: {One Hundred Claws of Purgatory}!!!”
As the claws rushed down, Aquarina’s eyes widened as she gritted her teeth, realizing this foe couldn’t be underestimated at all.
“Even her damn techniques evolved?! Shit!”
Aquarina stepped back and avoided the incoming rain of giant claws made of translucent aura and flames, which crashed through the floor, shattering it.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
As she dodged using her superior speed through her fusion with Leon, she quickly began unleashing more of her powers, combining them in her hands.
“I hope that was her last damn Divine Protection…!”
While gritting her teeth angrily in frustration, Aquarina stepped into the air and rushed upward. The young ant queen chased her, flying toward her with her aura, even without wings.
“COME HERE, COWARDLY MONKEY!”
“Tch, you’ll see…! Drakon! Spirit Fusion!”
Aquarina tried something new. While still fused with Leon, who was beginning to tire as a young spirit, she added Drakon into the mix.
Drakon was the egg of an Oasis Wyrm, but through the blessings he received and his recent evolution, he became a Spiritual Beast instead.
Pyuku was resting tiredly inside her Soulscape, and Undine and Leviathan were the same, although they were recovering quickly.
She started seeing the benefits of having multiple familiars and spirits. Relegating some to rest while using other spirits was best, allowing her a wide array of techniques and strategies and expanding her arsenal and fighting stamina.
And her Mana, of course.
“Graaarrr!”
FLUOSH!
Drakon appeared above her and quickly turned ethereal, fusing into her. She felt an immense surge of draconic power coursing through her entire body.
She gained shell-like armor around her arms, legs, chest, head, and back, resembling armor made of the black, red, and blue scaled eggshell of Drakon.
Alongside that, she grew a pair of black horns on her forehead, and her eyes turned gold and red, glowing with mysterious light.
“Incredible, it’s not like Leviathan at all, it’s totally different!”
As Aquarina realized this new power, the ant queen reached her. The aura around her flickered, transforming into dozens of clones of herself.
“I GOT YOU NOW!”
As she smiled, her countless clones reached Aquarina, all attacking her, attempting to touch her to drain more of her energy.
“{Divine Soul Draining Touch Arts}: {One Hundred Claws of Purgatory}!!!”
“Same technique? Lame!”
Aquarina’s entire body overflowed with lightning, azure water, ice, and fire as she rushed down by kicking the air around her, facing the countless claws.
And then…
“{Abyssal Dragon Eggshell}!”
FLUOSH!
The darkness merged with her eggshell-like armor, encompassing her in an abyssal eggshell-shaped barrier. She rushed through the claws, tearing apart the ant queen’s claws one after another.
CRAAAASH!
“GAAAAGGGH?!”
And then, smashing into the ant queen’s head with everything she had, she rushed down, spinning constantly, using her entire weight and strength to overwhelm her foe as she smashed her into the floor.
BOOOM!
“H-HOW DARE YOUUUU! STOOOP!”
The golden flames of her saint sister constantly tried to mitigate the damage through healing, but her body was being literally ground alive, flesh and exoskeleton alike torn to shreds slowly.
“K R I E E E E E H H H !”
