Chapter 1838: First Trial Completion Rewards
—–
“FOR YOUR GREAT PERFORMANCE AND FOR DEMONSTRATING TO THIS OLD MAN THAT THERE’S STILL HOPE OUT THERE… I SHALL GRANT YOU THE BEST REWARD FOR THE FIRST TRIAL.”
“R-Reward?” Aquarina muttered, barely breathing.
FLAAASH!
A wave of warm light enveloped everyone, instantly healing their bodies to normal and nearly fully restoring their Mana.
“Woah?! I’m healed!” Silvia said happily.
“Not even our exhaustion remains…” Justicio said. “Wait a second, was that the reward?!”
“NOT AT ALL. THAT WAS MERELY A SHOWCASE OF MY APPRECIATION. NOW… THIS IS YOUR REWARD.”
FLASH! FLASH! FLASH!
Three spheres of brown and golden light descended, brimming with divine and spiritual energies. There were only three, for Aquarina, Silvia, and Justicio.
“Ooh, wait, what about Pyuku?” Aquarina asked.
“YOUR FAMILIARS WILL SHARE THE REWARD THROUGH YOUR CONNECTION AND BONDS.”
“TOUCH THE INHERITANCE ORBS AND ABSORB THEIR POWER. YOU WILL INHERIT A FRAGMENT OF MY ENDURANCE.”
The trio gazed at the floating spheres with wonder, nodded, and touched them with their hands.
The effects were instantaneous.
An immense surge of power coursed through their bodies, accompanied by shared visions.
FLAAASH!
The visions revealed a towering, muscular, brown-skinned man traversing desolate mountains, his golden eyes scanning the landscape as he carried a large stone hammer.
He had a long black beard, and much of his body was covered in black hair. He was hairy and brimming with masculinity. Yet he also had majestic long black hair. By his side stood a beautiful desert elf woman with clear brown skin, white tattoos, and long blonde hair.
Her emerald eyes gazed at the empty Dry Steppes as she carried a baby, an adorable little half-elf, while pregnant with another.
“This land… It may be desolate and arid, but it’s just what we needed,” he said.
“I like it… It’s better than the desert. We can set up a village here, and there’s an oasis nearby, dear,” she smiled gently.
“Wawaahh!” the baby raised his little hands as the man and his wife smiled at him.
“Are you excited too, baby?” the baby’s mother giggled.
“He’s brimming with curiosity! I’m quite curious about those mushrooms over there, haha,” the man smiled. “Shall we go?”
“Hm!” his wife nodded as they walked forward.
This was the beginning of Everstone, when the Ancient Hero, his wife, and their child arrived in this desolate land where no one dared to live.
Yet this unforgiving land would have been a ridiculous challenge to tame for anyone… except him.
“GRUOOOHHH!”
A titanic, one-hundred-meter Sandworm emerged upon their arrival. As his wife panicked, he stepped forward.
“Don’t you dare touch my wife!”
With a furious roar, he swung his hammer, smashing the monster with one blow, making it explode into pieces.
The force of his strike, combined with the delicate mastery of his hammer, carried both primal savagery and the skill of a true grandmaster.
As they settled and built their home, creatures constantly threatened their lives, massive, titanic beasts of ancient times that no longer exist.
Three-headed birds, two hundred meters tall with colorful feathers, attempted to devour them but were pulverized by a rain of meteors, their heads crushed.
Titanic dinosaurs, over one hundred meters tall, dug through the ground with massive claws, only to be kicked away and impaled by hundreds of mithril spears and other super-hard metals.
Enormous Sand Sharks, fifty meters long, swam through the sands and arid deserts, opening giant jaws to devour them, only to have their insides blown apart by immense magical power.
And more, and more, and more…
He endured with his wife. Both knew this land was unforgiving and savage, yet they never planned to leave.
This was their new home, their place to belong, far from civilization and its troubles.
He endured more than anyone, bearing the hardships of his beloved wife and growing family.
Never faltering, never doubting himself, with a relentless heart and bare hands, the Ancient Hero of Stone shaped this desolate land into the home of his descendants.
Everstone.
“Ah!”
Aquarina and her friends opened their eyes, finding themselves on the floor, gasping for air.
The vision of that man’s amazing feats and his relentlessness to protect his family and endure anything for them overwhelmed them.
This was the true trial of Endurance, not for oneself, but for others.
Only when protecting someone or fighting for another can one truly draw all their power.
The primal instinct to protect beloved family and friends…
“Amazing… our Ancestor was incredible!” Silvia giggled. “His family was so cute! I wonder if one of those kids was our great-grandparent… Hehe!”
“Yeah… He was a man among men!” Justicio nodded. “I am blessed to have seen such a vision…”
“Hmm…” Aquarina nodded, remaining silent as she looked at her hands, feeling they resembled, for a moment, the hands of that man.
Not in appearance per se, but in her desire to shape a home for herself, her friends, and family…
And, most importantly, for Sylphy.
“One day, I’ll do the same. I’ll carve my way through this harsh world and make a place where I can live with my Sylphy,” she smiled. “A home free from all troubles! You guys are invited if you want to come!”
“Eh?”
“Huh?”
Silvia and Justicio looked at each other and laughed.
“Hahaha, to think that’s what you came up with after seeing that…” Silvia giggled.
“That’s Aquarina for you,” Justicio nodded, laughing.
“Hey! What’s wrong with that?!” Aquarina complained angrily. “You guys are such jerks! Hmph!”
She grew embarrassed but was dead serious. Although Sylphy wasn’t here, she would have agreed, as it was a dream they shared.
What Aquarina gained from completing the first trial was immense, a third of the whole inheritance. She quickly realized its power, coursing through every muscle, bone, and even her skin. Her body felt stronger, heavier, more resilient, and tougher.
She felt deeply connected to the earth’s depths, its stones, ores, crystals, and metals, as if her body had become part of them for a moment.
“So this is the Inheritance of the First Hero of Stone… It’s awesome. And I’m not even done with it?!”
Aquarina couldn’t help but feel excited for what awaited her next.
