Chapter 1882: Divine Authorities And Divinity Sparks
—–
“You’re not wrong, Alice, it could give us a lot of valuable clues about the gods, and the past they’re trying to hide from us,” I said.
“The past they’re trying to hide from us, huh…” Aquarina sighed. “Yeah, you’re not wrong… what happened back in the Dry Steppes was all their fault too, they abandoned those Great Spirits and ended causing all of this mess at the end because of how much they hated them.”
“Now the only ones left alive are two, right?” I asked.
“Yeah, the others are just gone…” Aquarina sighed. “Well, at the very least that fire ant one has become part of your strength and divinity, right?”
“Yep, I was able to absorb her divine soul and something happened within me that made me much stronger,” I explained. “I also got this new Skill.”
I opened my palm, summoning a little sphere of red and orange flames.
“This is the [Divine Star Of Destruction] Skill, seems similar to the Halo and the Rings I had obtained from the other False Gods we found and defeated in Cloudia,” I explained. “Thanks to those Skills was that I was able to awaken a pseudo divinity of sorts, though it doesn’t seem complete, it was enough to bless you as my Saintess and gift you with divine items… I think the System amplified what would have seen as a minor divinity by the Gods. Right Alice?”
“Indeed, the System amplifies your powers and grant new ones, helping you evolve them constantly, without a limit,” explained Alice. “This is the power of the System.”
“It’s amazing that you were born with such a power, Sylphy…” Aquarina smiled. “Such a unique type of Ability… or is it like some innate magic? Well, Alice is tied to it…”
“It’s complicated I guess, but yeah I was born with it and Alice already bonded to me…” I muttered, without wanting to elaborate more than that. “Anyway, sometimes the powers I assimilate are embodied as new Skills, and this is how I got this Star. It seems to work like the Halo and the Ring too, while also being a very powerful spell I believe, but it can help me refine Divine Power into my body, helping me increase the progress of my Physique and Magic Circle growth.”
“Amazing! But does that mean you’re now a goddess of destruction too?” Aquarina asked.
“My Divinity hasn’t changed from what you saw earlier, so not for now,” I said. “But… maybe?”
“Well, it is possible that the Divine Star of Destruction could influence Sylphy’s Divine Authorities over time as she cultivates the powerful Divine Skill,” Alice explained. “It should be expected that at some point it will grow and develop more.”
“Hmm, interesting,” I nodded. “Well, for now it’s doing fine. Even now I am cultivating and moving the divine essence from these three divine soul thingies into my body… and soul, and everything. At first it was really complicated, but I think I’ve been getting much better at it.”
“Nice~!” Aquarina smiled. “I’m developing a second Divinity Spark myself, but I guess they aren’t as potent or as unique as an actual Divinity… Or are they? Wait, I never really thought about it too much but what exactly is the difference? Are Divinity Sparks just weaker Divinities?”
“No, Divinity Sparks are more akin to a Divine Power than a Divine Authority…” Alice explained. “Divine Authorities govern over a certain element and their laws within the world or the surrounding universe… they have to deal with understanding things to a much deeper degree, and this divine authority can manifest miracles or even alter reality… a reason why the Gods are so powerful. They have authority over the element they govern. This is how the Evil God of Dungeons, despite having no way to come to Sylphy’s Dungeon, was able to do it anyway once it was eroded by Miasma a little bit. This would also imply that Fire Gods that govern over various aspects of the Element of Flames can bring them forth from the world around them, or even the universe if their authority expands far and wide.”
“Eh?!” Aquarina was a little confused her eyes looked utterly puzzled. “I-I don’t get it too much but… okay.”
“Haha, well, that’s how it is,” I said. “And Divinity Sparks?”
“They’re like an innate power someone develops, they don’t govern over an element like divine authorities but allow the user to exert the divine power of the element their divinity spark is, imagine it more like a weapon capable of dealing damage to divine beings, divine authorities are usually superior however, but divinity sparks are easier to develop by far, and can grow rapidly and exponentially,” Alice explained. “Both are different but at the same time, not mutually exclusive.”
“Hm, I kind of don’t get it that much but… Okay,” Aquarina said. “I got two though, that means I’m super strong right?”
“Indeed! You’ve grown immensely more powerful now, Aquarina, congrats,” Alice smiled, nodding. “I’m glad you were able to progress so much back in the Dry Steppes… I believe you’ll be able to protect Sylphy really well.”
“Thank you Alice,” Aquarina said. “And I’m glad you took care of Sylphy this entire time, she can such a troublemaker sometimes, right~?”
“Haha, indeed, you’re not wrong,” Aquarina laughed.
“Troublemaker?!” I asked. “I’m not a troublemaker! I behave very well and I’m a good girl!”
“Yeah but you tend to jump into danger, or you get tunnel vision and become obsessed with like a single thing, and you won’t stop until you get to that thing,” Aquarina commented.
“Uuhh…” I couldn’t really say anything in my defense at this moment. “But it’s never that bad…”
“It’s not, and that’s also why I like you,” Aquarina kissed my forehead as she let me cuddle on her chest.
“You’re also reckless…” I said, looking at her. “How many times have you jumped into danger though?”
“A-Ahahah… I guess I was, I’m not as dumb anymore though!” Aquarina said. “And I’ll show you! I’m a new Aquarina!”
