Chapter 1883: Aquarina’s Dream

“I’m not as dumb or naïve anymore though!” Aquarina said. “And I’ll show you! I’m a new Aquarina!”
“I can tell you are new with all your growth so far,” Beelzebub commented. “But did you really change? Hahaha!”
“Shut up you dumb fly, nobody asked for your opinion!” Aquarina barked at him angrily.
“D-Dumb fly?! I am a Demon Lord! Watch your tongue you damn brat!” Beelzebub roared angrily.
“That’s enough! Don’t fight!” I sighed. “Geez, let’s just unsummon you guys for now.”
Beelzebub, Ignatius, and the rest quickly returned to my Soulscape for the moment… it was better to not have them always around, even less when I’m cuddling lovingly with my girlfriend, they kind of destroy the whole point of having privacy together.
“So aside from going to the Dry Steppes, what else did you wanted to do?” I asked her.
“Hmm…” she began to think. “Honestly, I’d like to explore the rest of the world… but we have to go to the Academy first and… there’s something I wanted to tell you actually, now that I remember.”
“Hm?” I wondered. “What is it?”
“It’s a dream… no, rather, it was more like a nightmare,” she said. “Back then in the Dry Steppes, I had a really bad nightmare that even made me cry like a baby…”
“W-What? My poor baby, what was it?” I wondered, as I hugged her tightly with my arms, I quickly moved the blankets to cover the two of us. We had yet to have dinner, but we were already ready to go to sleep at this point, and it was so comfy to hug her while we cuddle in my bed, even if it’s a little small for the two of us.
“D-Don’t call me a baby…” she said while looking a little sad, but I caressed her face, making her even more embarrassed. “Well, what I saw was… Uh, let me go over it slowly then. It started with me running in the Elven Capital, and the houses were burning and there was a lot of dead people everywhere, corpses…”
“The capital?” I asked.
“Yeah…” she sighed, looking down, and then at the window, and the snowflakes falling from the night sky, faintly illuminated by the candlelight. “I was running desperately, looking for you for some reason… I only saw more and more dead bodies everywhere, people screaming, buildings ablaze… I saw the Elven Castle burning.”
“…”
“A-And I saw you fighting against a group of demons,” Aquarina said.
“Demons?”
“Yeah, it was demons, not the true demons, the demons from this world,” Aquarina explained. “They were winning… and you were ultimately overwhelmed by an immense dark force, from… from a guy with purple hair, he had two small black horns and pale white skin, and red eyes… he was… he was so strong for some damn reason. I tried to get to you, but… I don’t remember well, but something was stopping me from reaching you, those demons, and armies of creatures that he had summoned.”
“He had purple hair?” I asked. “I… I think I saw him in a dream too.”
“You did?” Aquarina asked.
“Yeah… I saw some dreams about the end of all things, I even saw another with something even more terrifying…” I said. “The King of all True Demons… burning everything.”
“Hmm…” Aquarina sighed. “I-I also saw you die… I saw them cut your… your arms and legs, until you couldn’t fight anymore, and then he beheaded you.”
“Yikes, that’s graphic Aquarina! How can you dream something like that about your girlfriend?!” I asked.
“I-I’m sorry… I wanted to not say anything about that part, but I felt like I had to tell you everything,” Aquarina sighed. “I don’t know what happened or why I saw that… I’m sorry if it’s weird, I would have never wanted that to happen to you… you know that, right?”
“I-I… yeah, I know that Aquarina, don’t worry,” I smiled. “It just was really weird… My dream was different; it included that same figure but with my grandfather’s head.”
“What?! Oh…” Aquarina muttered. “Whoever that guy is, we have to seriously stop him! Maybe we’ll meet him somewhere? My mom said he could be a half-demon, like Celeste!”
“Really?” I wondered. “Hmm, this is weird… but that could have been the new Demon King, I have already seen him in my dreams too. But right now we can’t do much either way, right? It’s… something we need to prepare for a possible future. We should tell my grandfather about our dreams though, so they can prepare and be more ready for something.”
“Hm, you’re not wrong,” Aquarina nodded. “But for now I guess it’s time for dinner? I smell something… tasty. Ah, sorry, is it weird to say that after the whole nightmare?”
“It’s fine, I think my dad’s cooking something, probably meat from the monsters we recently hunted!” I said. “Smells nice, right~?”
“Yep, I’m starving! All that fun we had in the bath really left me exhausted,” Aquarina sighed. “You really know how to drain someone…”
“A-Ah… hehe…” I giggled embarrassedly, feeling a little flustered. “I guess we should go downstairs and see what dad’s making, and then we can help him cook?”
“Sure!” nodded Aquarina. “Let’s go.”
She quickly stood up with me as we walked downstairs, reaching the living room and then walking to the big kitchen, finding my father cooking a lot of meals. He was always decent at cooking, but now that he has to do it every day he has become really good.
If dad had a system he would definitely have a max level Cooking Skill at this point! I can’t wait until mom comes back and she gets surprised of his cooking.
“Oh girls! You’re here, what’s up? I’m still cooking dinner though, so you’ll have to wait at least twenty more minutes,” he said.
“Can’t we help?” I asked.
“Yeah!” Aquarina said.
“Well, alright, if you insist…” my dad said. “But aren’t you tired Aquarina? Your parents are sleeping like logs right now; I could hear your mom’s snoring all the way from here.”
