Chapter 1886: What I Want To Do
—–
I was finally beginning to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, with my future, putting aside any war or battle, what I truly wanted to do.
Oh yes, I can already imagine it, my own life… our life.
“SYLPHY!”
“Eek?! W-What? What?!”
I gasped, realizing I’ve been thinking so deeply that I wasn’t hearing someone was talking to me the entire time.
Wow, I really get really distracted sometimes, it was as if the world around me was mute.
“I’m sorry, I was thinking a lot of things…” I apologized.
I looked at the origin of the voice, it was Celeste, who had been trying to talk with me this entire time.
“Geez, what were you even thinking about? We’ve been trying to speak with you this entire time,” Celeste said.
“I-It was almost a little scary how you weren’t responding,” Ruby giggled. “Are you ok? What’s wrong?”
“Uh? Uuhh…” I felt nervous as I saw not only my friends, but my dad, and Aquarina’s whole family, plus my master, all looking at me with concerned eyes.
“Please don’t look at me like that, I’m ok!” I cried, feeling a little embarrassed. “I was just overthinking things… and imagining other things. Dad talked to me and Aquarina about what we wanted to do in the future and stuff… so I was thinking a lot.”
“Oh yeah, right! You’re going to the academy now and then boom, the world is your oyster I suppose,” Aquarina’s mother said with a smile. “Well, have you thought what you want to do as an adult, Sylphy? Freeloading as a spoiled princess while lazing around is not your style, I imagine.”
“O-Of course not! I don’t want to spend my days idly…” I said. “I would like to dedicate myself to become a respectable member of society! Like… a magic teacher or an professional royal alchemist. Like mom or master Felicia.”
“Oho, so you want to steal both of our jobs?” joked Felicia. “What do you plan to do once you start working on those fields then?”
“Err, open a class?” I wondered. “Research magic with other fellow magicians in the tower… teach students and bond with them, see how they grow to become fine magicians themselves. Sell alchemy products and solve people’s problems, everyday problems or specific problems that nobody can solve except me… And go on adventures with Aquarina and my friends too.”
“Wow…” Ruby blushed a little as she heard me speaking my heart. “Sounds… it sounds really nice!”
“Eh? Really?” I wondered. “You’re not going to laugh, Celeste?”
“…Why would I laugh at your dreams?” Celeste asked me, raising an eyebrow. “It’s… it’s a nice plan for the future.”
“Yeah!” Celica nodded. “I was wondering what I should do myself too… Hmm, I really love designing not just fluffy plushies but clothes. I think I could become an Alchemy Tailor… do those exist?”
“Yes they do, they’re paid really well to make powerful magic clothes,” Felicia nodded. “You’ll be commissioned all the time by nobles if you’re good at your job.”
“Oooohh!” Celica seemed excited. “Sounds nice…!”
“Eh, I wouldn’t mind work as an Alchemist as my side job with Sylphy, while we go out to hunt and journey into unexplored areas,” Aquarina said. “You know how I am…”
“And I share the same sentiment, I’m not going to stay in a city for the rest of my life, haha, it’ll be our home, and we’ll return regularly, but we’ll, of course, explore the outside world as much as we can. We’ll explore the entire world, not even an inch will go unexplored, alright?” I said with a smile.
“Really?! Nice!” Aquarina nodded. “It’ll be nice to have a place to come back too…”
“Y-You better bring me along sometimes, at least!” Celeste demanded. “It’s not like we’ll stop being friends once we become adults and graduate, right?”
“Of course not, dummy!” I giggled. “Buuut sometimes I’d like to just go with Aquarina… you know, because we’ll be married by then.”
“Yeah, yeah, but there’s no problem either, we’ll definitely bring you and everyone else along if you want,” Aquarina smiled. “But yeah, sometimes we’ll just go out just the two of us, hehe.” Aquarina giggled, kissing my cheek, and I responded by kissing her nose.
And then we ended kissing each other lips…
“I-I see… I’m so glad for you Sylphy… I’m happy to have finally known Aquarina as well…” Ruby muttered nervously. “I-I haven’t thought that well what I want to do but… I kind of want to follow my parent’s legacy. I like forging. I want to become a Blacksmith. Yeah I got the hero blessing and everything but…”
“Please, don’t let that blessing dictate anything in your life,” my father said. “We committed a grave mistake by letting it force us to do things, by allowing a mere blessing to control us and our path, and even now, the consequences of our mistakes remain…”
“Yeah,” Shade nodded. “We don’t want the same for any of you, we’ve been working this entire time, fighting, for you to have great lives, great childhoods… I am not going to let anybody take that away. So please, don’t think about what wars you’ll fight, or what beings you must face… think about your own lives, and your own futures.”
“Dad…” Aquarina shed a little tear. “Thanks…! But don’t think I won’t help you, alright? If a threat comes, sure, we’ll face it together!”
“Hah, I guess we can’t convince you otherwise, eh?” Nepheline laughed. “For Esmeralda here too.”
“Wawaahh?” Esmeralda wondered, tilting her head.
“Yes, for you too,” nodded Nepheline. “I want you to have a great future, my dear baby… so don’t ever concern yourself with these things.”
“Oww…” the baby didn’t quite understand, eating a piece of fruit and messing her face and hands with the juice and pulp. “Nam, nam!”
At her cute response, we ended bursting into laughter, it was really funny…
Yeah, this life…
I think I’m finally beginning to figure out what I want to do.
