Chapter 1888: Master Felicia’s Explanations
—–
“While Synthesists simply combine materials together, Forgers change the material into what they want to better synthesize things or even use it for combat, defense, or daily life. If you combine Shape Forge with Synthesis, you can get better results when creating items using Alchemy and even normal Forging, which uses a different magic and is also merged with hammer techniques,” Master Felicia explained to Aquarina.
“Alright then, it sounds like it’ll be pretty useful all things considered… But I have no idea how I’ll even learn how to do that… And what do Geomancers do?” Aquarina asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Geomancers? Well, they can do this,” Master Felicia said, suddenly touching the back of her wooden chair with her hands.
“{Elemental Deconstruction}!”
FLASH!
A wave of Mana emerged from her hands, encompassing the entire chair as it began trembling. Then it suddenly grew several branches everywhere, followed by green leaves and even green-colored nuts. The chair also grew larger, resembling a wooden throne. Everyone looked surprised; even I was shocked!
“W-What is that magic?!” Aquarina asked. “Wait, are you using Nature Magic?”
“Nature Magic? Not at all, but it’s similar. This is Geomancy, the ability to manipulate the basic elements of the world and conjure spells out of them—like grabbing ice to turn it into a snowstorm, sand into glass, touching the ground to create pillars of stone, using fire to shape it into swords of flames, using water to transform it into a bubble to protect you, and wood like this can be prompted back to life… Although technically, it’s still dead. I simply manipulated its particles to expand its elemental form,” Master Felicia explained. “And well, this is only one of the many other uses this has, Aquarina!”
Wow, I can’t believe Master Felicia gave the whole speech again! Does she have it recorded in her head or something? That’s impressive; she almost sounds automated! I guess after living for so many years and teaching others, she must have grown used to this introductory speech.
Though the difference this time was that she used the chair to demonstrate Geomancy instead of the chocolate cheesecake she filled with mushrooms… Ew, yeah, that was yucky. I’m glad she used this much simpler and more beautiful way instead.
“Wait, so you’re telling me we can conditionally wield all elements without even having affinity for them?” Aquarina wondered. “Hmm, that’s interesting, and unlike spells you aren’t restricted by their potency or runes… I think I kind of figured out a little of Geomancy back then too. Or maybe my Elemental Affinities are too broad, but I felt like I could manipulate stone, water, and flames…”
“Yeah, that’s most likely the many affinities you’re enjoying. You’re a rather blessed child,” Felicia laughed. “But yes, pretty much,” nodded Master Felicia. “Impressed yet? I am sure it’s not like the one you can do, as this is much more refined… In fact, I believe that pseudo geomancy you talked about could become even stronger if you master this power.”
“Is that so…” Aquarina wondered, rubbing her chin. “Honestly, that sounds really tempting… but how do I even learn any of this?”
“You will learn tomorrow,” Master Felicia said with a smirk. “For the time being, we should go rest… It will be an arduous test, Aquarina, but if you can overcome it, you will definitely become so strong you won’t believe it.”
“I-I hardly think that’s possible, Miss Felicia… I mean, I already completed a Heroic Trial!” Aquarina said. “I’m pretty damn strong now.”
“Yes, perhaps, but you still have various areas you could work on. Something that Alchemy does is not simply make you stronger; it helps you master your abilities and your elemental magic,” explained Master Felicia. “Even your fighting techniques and your weapon arts—all of that will evolve even further through mastering Alchemy. Especially Shape Forge and Geomancy.”
“R-Really?” Aquarina wondered, still skeptical.
“Yeah,” Celica said. “We’ve grown super strong since we started training… And what we do most of the time is brewing potions, making bombs, and other stuff in different ways!”
“Pretty much,” nodded Celeste. “Well, we still go out to dungeons to get materials. And we also are asked to create stuff on our own. Exercising our Alchemy by producing a lot of items and then remaking them.”
“Remaking them?” Aquarina asked.
“When you reach a certain point, you can recreate items using more materials or special spirit crystals!” I said. “You can imbue them with different runes and special effects, making them very strong and unique.”
“Huh, I had no idea it was THAT complex. Sounds pretty fun,” she nodded. “What else can be used for fighting?”
“Well, a lot!” Celica said. “I was able to evolve my Golems through Geomancy and Shape Forging. And I can kind of spread a Golem Domain using both around myself… hehe.”
“W-Wait, what? Golem Domain?!” Aquarina wondered. “Celica, you learned how to make a Domain?”
“Yeah!” Celica nodded.
“Me too,” Celeste said. “Well, what I got the most out of it was my spear, which I turned into my Familiar as it continued absorbing demonic power from foes… I was somehow able to use Geomancy to manipulate demonic energy from True Demons, and I was even able to enhance and evolve my Cursed Spear to insane levels… And through Shape Forge, it is possible to help it transform into different forms for utility.”
“So yeah, you kind of play around with Alchemy and combine it with your existing abilities to elevate them to a completely new level,” I explained. “I also did something similar but mostly through my own Aura. Yeah, you can use Geomancy and Shape Forge on your own Aura if you master Alchemy enough and get a lot of Alchemy Runes.”
“A-Alchemy Runes? Wait, what? My Aura?!” Aquarina was completely lost. “No way that’s Alchemy…!”
“Well, well, young’un, you’ve been completely wrong about Alchemy this entire time,” Felicia said. “You’ll find out what it can truly do if you push yourself to your limits and complete the test… Now, I suppose it’s about time we go to sleep. Have a good night, everyone.”
