Chapter 1891: Breakfast
—–
“I’ve heard your cooking is amazing, father-in-law, so I want to taste everything…!” Aquarina said.
“Hahaha! You’re praising me too much now,” he said. “Well, I guess you’re now technically my daughter, right? All part of the same family. So I have to spoil you from time to time, there you go.”
“Oooh! Thank you!” Aquarina saw my father bring her both a plate of pancakes and waffles, and she ended up even hugging him.
“Oh…!” He was a little surprised, but laughed, patting her head. “Hahaha, alright, alright, calm down. “I never thought you would hug me…”
“Why not? You’re Sylphy’s dad! So I of course love you as well, father-in-law! Thank you for raising such a cute daughter that I love so much…!” he hugged him even tighter.
“A-Aagh! You’re hugging me too hard, girl- I get it! Okay, I get it…!” my dad groaned, as Aquarina let go of her. “Hahaha… I guess she got her mother’s super strength.”
“She does!” I nodded. “She’s so strong… I think the test will be decently challenging but she’ll overcome it.”
“I think so too,” dad said. “Alright then dear, what do you want?”
“Umm… I’ll eat whatever you cook dad, don’t worry,” I said. “So bring it on!”
“Hahah, okay, I’ll bring you the usual. Some eggs, bacon… Ah, I got this recently, it’s called cereal, the dwarves said it was good with milk,” my father said. “These are made of corn… covered with honey.”
“Huh?” I looked at what dad served me; they resembled small flakes. “Interesting…”
I quicky took a bite and then a few more with the milk he served me, which was warm.
And… Oh yeah, he wasn’t wrong, this was pretty good.
It was crunchy, and it melded nicely with milk, the honey flavor was also great.
“This is good!” I said. “You gotta try this Aquarina!”
“Hm?” Aquarina quickly ate a few spoons. “Oh woah, it’s crunchy but small, the milk mellows it down. It also has a lot of honey? How do they even make this?”
“I don’t really know myself…” my dad said, rubbing his chin. “But they were selling like ten kilograms for really cheap, so I purchased some. They had other flavors, one had chocolate.”
“Chocolate?!” Aquarina and I ended up reacting at the same time.
“Haha, I knew you would prefer that one… eat the one I bought first before you go for another one, okay?” he asked. “Anyway, the rest should be coming soon… Are you ready for your test, Aquarina?”
“Yep, as ready as… as I could? As I can…” Aquarina sighed. “Honestly, not too ready… ugh.”
“Hahah, I understand how you feel, cheer up,” my father said, patting her shoulders. “You can do it; you’ve proven us you can do anything after completing that super hard trial over at the Dry Steppes. Only two people had completed it before you, you know? You’re very special.”
“Aaah, you’re embarrassing me with those words…” Aquarina sighed. “Hey this is cool, it’s like I have a second dad now.”
“I guess but he’s still MY dad!” I said, hugging my father while munching on cereal.
“You surely can share a bit, right? I’ll let you have mine…” Aquarina said, as she dragged my father to her side.
“E-Eh? This is awkward, are you really fighting for my fatherhood? I feel both flattered and weirded out right now…” Allan muttered.
“Good morning world! I smell something nice! Want some help in the kitchen, Allan?”
Suddenly, a loud voice resonated as Aquarina quickly let go of my father.
“Good morning Nepheline…” he said, sighing in relief. “If you can help then that’s for the better.”
“Alright~ Oh! Good morning dear,” she said, kissing Aquarina’s cheek. “Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah…!” Aquarina nodded. “Actually, it still took me a damn while to wake up…”
“Yeah I know it would, sorry about that Sylphy, Aquarina is like that,” Nepheline laughed. “Did she told you she takes a while to even wake up sometimes? Like, back in the Dry Steppes she would sleep until 3 PM! That one time she woke up at 4 PM! She’s a lazy buns.”
“What?!” I gasped. “A-Aquarina! So when I’m not around you’re waking up that late?!”
“I-I’m sorry! I’ll wake up earlier…!” she cried. “Don’t get mad… I know I’m lazy…”
“Geez…” I sighed. “We have to fix that schedule! But… you’re not lazy, I know you work hard every day and that’s why you oversleep. But still, you over over oversleep…”
“Heheh…” she giggled nervously. “A-Anyway, can I have some of that cereal, father-in-law?”
“You can also just call me uncle,” my dad shrugged. “All the same to me anyway.”
“Nah I prefer father-in-law~!” Aquarina giggled. “Reminds me that I’m engaged to Sylphy now… Ah right! Look mom, father-in-law! Sylphy gave me this last night!”
She suddenly showed the wedding ring I gave to her to both of them like nothing!
I felt so embarrassed…
“Oooohhh! A wedding ring from our little ol’ Sylphy?!” Nepheline asked. “Oh my! I had no idea you were going for my daughter like that, my dear. Hahahah!”
“It’s a nice ring!” my dad nodded. “Well done Sylphy, sometimes you really just have to go for it instead of hesitating, with this you’ve more or less sealed the deal…! Ah right! Now we’ll have a wedding right? How about in the capital, Nepheline?”
“Oh yes! Sounds great! A royal wedding?! My daughter is really marrying an elven princess, haha…!” Nepheline couldn’t stop laughing. “Who would’ve thought that our kids would end up loving each other so much, we really felt like family before, but now, our children have made us a real family.”
“Yeah… I know,” my dad nodded, feeling happy. “What do you think? Or would you like a wedding somewhere else?”
“Of course, what about Agartha?” I asked.
“Yeah, that’s where we grew up for half our childhood…” Aquarina said.
“Right! How could we forget?!” Nepheline facepalmed.
“Hm, alright, Agartha it is,” my dad said.
And like that, preparations for our wedding began.
