Chapter 1894: You Can Do It!
—–
“Huh? Hmm… My ability to read Intentions?” Aquarina asked. “Ah, it’s not perfect. It has many flaws, and I still don’t know how to develop it further.”
“Maybe by cultivating a Heart,” I suggested. “I’m developing the power to read Emotions to some extent. They appear like threads of color flowing from people’s hearts.”
“Really?!” Celeste exclaimed. “That sounds insane… But then again, you always do insane things.”
“I have a Dragon Heart and an Unyielding Bond Heart Skill…” Aquarina murmured shyly. “Do they count?”
“I’m not sure…” I said, rubbing my chin. “I’ll need to investigate the true powers of this new Heart I gained from Curse’s sacrifice…”
He left far more power within me than I ever imagined.
This was Curse’s final gift.
After everything we shared, after years of friendship…
Curse began as a mere curse created by an ancient, resentful Demon King, drifting from body to body in search of someone worthy. Slowly, he became a spirit in his own right.
Yet his core purpose—to kill the gods—remained.
Should I leave that purpose unfulfilled after all he did for me?
Do I have the right to think only of my future with Aquarina, ignoring his sacrifice?
…Hmm.
“Sylphy?” Celica asked softly.
“Hm?” I blinked, pushing the heavy thoughts aside for now.
“Isn’t it getting late? Let’s teach Aquarina already so she can start. She only has one week, after all!” Celica urged.
“Right!” I nodded. “Come here, Aquarina.”
I beckoned my girlfriend over. She stepped to my side, and I scooped up a handful of snow.
Unsurprisingly, it was freezing cold and barely melted—likely due to its spiritual properties.
This was why even today’s strong sunlight couldn’t melt the snow and ice of the mountain. It remained as hard as rock.
This was the unique Spirit Ice of the Blue Mountains, prized for its slow-melting nature—similar to magical ice but far more enduring.
It took nearly a year for a large chunk to melt outside the mountain, making it valuable across many countries, especially the elven capital.
Now, how to make snow “disappear” using Alchemy?
Matter can’t truly vanish. It only transforms.
Alchemy compresses the ice through synthesis, altering its composition to create…
A tiny ice crystal the size of a grain of sand.
“See?” I showed Aquarina. “It’s not too hard, right?”
Aquarina stared dumbfounded at what I just did.
“Not too hard?!” she cried. “It looks pretty hard to me…”
I felt slightly taken aback by her reaction, but I still insisted it wasn’t hard.
“Nah, it’s easy!” I encouraged. “Don’t use magic or skills, though. Only Alchemy! You’ve developed your own unique alchemy too, right?”
“Hmm…” she groaned. “Okay…”
She knelt and gathered snow, beginning to compress it.
It took her ten minutes.
“Aagh…! T-There!”
She succeeded, turning a handful of snow into a sand-sized ice crystal, which she tossed away.
“Now repeat that until the front is clear of snow!” I said with a bright smile.
“Eh?! I could try, but there’s no way I’ll finish in a week!” Aquarina complained.
“You can! You definitely can! And I’ll be right here cheering for you!” I insisted. “Your cute girlfriend supporting you the whole time—aren’t you lucky to have me~?” I winked playfully.
“Y-You’ll stay with me? Really?” Aquarina’s eyes filled with emotion. “Aw… Thank you. But you don’t have to, Sylphy. I’m sure you have other things to do…”
“Right now? Not really. We just finished a big test, and we’re free for a while,” I said, glancing at the girls.
“Yeah, maybe Master Felicia’s waiting for Aquarina to catch up,” Celeste added.
“But I’m scared she’ll dump another task on us any second…” Celica sighed.
“Well, we’ve been working hard…” Ruby said softly. “It took me a while to catch up until we were all taking the same tests together.”
“Ahh, that makes me want to work harder… Is this training really effective?” Aquarina asked.
“It is!” I nodded firmly. “So get to it! Come on, you can do this!”
“Haahhh… okay,” Aquarina said, nodding with determination. “Let’s do this!”
Aquarina began her slow, tedious task.
Ten minutes later, she created another crystal.
She spent the next five hours obsessively making more, tossing them away one by one.
Gradually, her time improved—first by a minute, then another three hours later.
Seven hours passed. If I hadn’t brought her sandwiches and a nutritious elixir made from dungeon fruits to keep her energy up, she would have skipped lunch entirely.
I stayed by her side, chatting and updating her on everything she’d missed during her absence.
As I kept her distracted, the test felt less grueling than she feared.
By the time night fell and dinner approached, Aquarina had completely cleared the front of the house.
“Well done! You did it!” I cheered.
“Yeah… but that’s barely anything compared to the whole mountain,” she sighed. “How will I ever finish in a week? It feels impossible.”
“Never say that! Everything is possible,” I said, resting my hands on her shoulders and kissing her softly. “Mooch! You deserve a big congratulatory kiss.”
“Sylphyyyy…” Aquarina melted into my arms, resting her head on my shoulder and hugging me tightly. Despite the hard work, she still smelled wonderful. “Please spoil me…”
She towered over me, yet acted so adorably vulnerable only with me.
Heheh, she’s so cute.
“Okay, I’ll spoil you,” I said with a warm smile, kissing her lips. “What do you want for dinner? I’ll make anything.”
“Really?!” Her eyes lit up with joy. “I want… umm… pizza! With extra cheese! And… a whole grilled fish with lots of salt. And… noodles with tomato sauce and parmesan. And… fried rice with veggies, chicken, meat, and shrimp!”
“W-Wait! Isn’t that too much?” I asked, surprised. “…No, never mind. I think I can manage. I’ll ask Dad for help… and my spirits. Fresh fish and shrimp from the dungeon. Chicken and red meat are stored in my Inventory… rice, noodles, tomatoes—all fresh from the dungeon too. I can do it all.”
“Nice!” Aquarina celebrated, beaming. “I love you, Sylphy!”
