Chapter 1905: Alchemy Soul Awakening
—–
“What?!” I gasped, fury surging through me at the mere thought of my sweet, innocent Violet being forced to breed like some animal. “No! Absolutely not! I won’t make her do that, Master! Geez, why do you have to be so strange sometimes…”
“Well, I had to try,” she replied with a mischievous smile. “Forget I mentioned it. Now, about Soul Cauldrons. It’s not simply bonding with one. A portion of your soul will literally transform into a cauldron.”
“Does that mean we can perform complex alchemy on the go by throwing materials directly into our souls?” Celeste asked, eyes sparkling with excitement. “That sounds incredible!”
“Exactly,” Felicia nodded. “It will take time to master, but this method also strengthens your soul far more quickly than relying solely on Soul Treasures.”
“So Soul Treasures do strengthen the soul?” I asked.
Perhaps those three Divine Items—the Thunder Rings, the Sunlight Halo, and the Star of Destruction—were similar to Soul Treasures. They felt like extensions of my soul, yet somehow separate. I had never attempted it, but maybe I could refine them into true Soul Treasures later.
“Yes, they do, Sylphy,” Master Felicia confirmed with a nod. “Amazing, isn’t it? They offer many other benefits too. But to truly cultivate your soul—beyond Familiars and Contracted Spirits—you’ll need Soul Treasures. What better place to start than with a Soul Cauldron? What do you think?”
“I’m in,” Celeste said. “It’s not like we can refuse the test, right?”
“If you do, you’ll fail the rest immediately and cease to be my disciples, leaving your training incomplete,” Felicia replied.
“Yeah, that’s why we should do it,” I nodded.
“I wasn’t planning to refuse anyway,” Celeste added. “I doubt I even could.”
“It’s going to be fun!” Celica exclaimed. “We just have to make a cauldron. Easy!”
“It shouldn’t be too difficult,” Ruby agreed. “Especially for me, since I’m a blacksmith too.”
“That’s everything, then!” Master Felicia announced. “You must craft your own Alchemy Cauldron using ingredients you gather, purchase, or hunt yourselves. It must suit your elements and affinities and reach at least SS Grade. You have three months starting today. If you need blueprints, I have some basic ones here.”
Master Felicia handed us the Alchemy Cauldron blueprints. They were simple, but included detailed instructions and assembly steps. The rest we would have to figure out on our own.
“You may help one another with advice,” Felicia continued. “But the cauldron itself must be your own work. If someone else crafts it for you, I will know.”
“Understood,” I said. “Right, girls?”
“Yeah!” Celica, Celeste, Ruby, and Aquarina cheered in unison.
“Very well. Shall we begin right away?” Felicia mused. “Celica, come here.”
“What for?” Celica asked.
“What else? I’m going to forge your Alchemy Soul,” Master Felicia said. “Stay close so I can guide you.”
“Oooh! Okay!” Celica hurried over and sat on a wooden stool beside her.
There, Master Felicia enveloped Celica in her aura while explaining the process and the true nature of Alchemy Souls.
“Alchemy Souls are an evolved form of Alchemy Runes,” she began. “They were first created by the most ancient alchemists, hundreds of thousands of years ago, when advanced mages were still exploring the mysteries of the soul. Other magical schools combine elemental runes with souls as well, but those are often restrictive due to elemental limitations. I don’t recommend them. Stick to your own varied Magic Circles instead.”
“And Alchemy Souls aren’t restrictive like that?” I asked.
“Of course not. Alchemy can be considered an ’attribute-less element’—or all elements at once. It arises from the interaction of mana with the world’s elements, so it can adapt to anything. There’s no risk in shaping part of your soul into an Alchemy Soul,” she explained. “You’ll need it for the Soul Cauldron Method to function properly. That method itself is a form of alchemical soul cultivation.”
“That sounds incredible,” I said. “Good luck, Celica!”
“Y-Yay!” Celica cheered, though nervousness flickered in her eyes as Master Felicia drew a portion of her soul from her body and gathered Alchemy Magic in her palms. “Like this, Master?”
“Yes. Now imprint the magic into your soul as I instructed,” Felicia guided.
“I’m trying my best,” Celica nodded. She began infusing the essence of Alchemy into her soul, which flared with shifting green and blue light, colors dancing wildly as something new took shape. “There! I feel something strange…”
“Keep going,” Master Felicia encouraged. Celica’s soul expanded rapidly, glowing with countless hues before liquefying.
The liquid soul shimmered rainbow-like, elements pulsing within it every second. For a brief moment, it resembled a cauldron boiling with the familiar rainbow mana liquid, then seamlessly merged back into Celica’s soul.
“And it’s done,” Felicia announced. “Rest for now.”
“Thank you…” Celica said softly. “I don’t feel much different yet, though, Master Felicia.”
“That’s normal,” Felicia reassured her. “The power will reveal itself gradually.”
“I see. Thank you!” Celica smiled and stepped away.
“Who’s next? Ruby, come here,” Felicia said.
“Yes, Master.” Ruby took the seat, receiving the same guidance.
Yet her soul burned with fierce fire. Beyond the Alchemy Soul, Master Felicia’s eyes widened at the emergence of a Soul Forge.
“A Soul Forge! It suits you perfectly, Ruby,” she said with an approving nod.
“What? What does that mean?” Ruby asked, curiosity bright in her voice.
“Soul Forges are akin to Alchemy Souls, created by master blacksmiths,” Master Felicia explained. “You now possess both. From this point forward, your alchemy and forging will evolve together.”
“That’s… good?” Ruby whispered. “Amazing…”
“Yes. You’re remarkably talented,” Felicia said warmly. “I won’t attribute it solely to the gods’ favor. There’s something more—and you know what it is.”
“What is it?” Ruby asked.
“Your own effort and dedication,” Felicia smiled, gently patting her head. “You’ve worked tirelessly since arriving, striving to prove yourself. You’ve succeeded admirably.”
“Master…” Ruby blushed deeply, touched by the praise.
Master Felicia was right. Ruby had poured herself into improvement, working harder than any of us to master our teachings while forging her own unique path.
“Who’s next?” Felicia asked. “Celeste, come here.”
