Chapter 1941: Family Breakfast
—–
“Alright, I’m ready. What’s for breakfast?” I asked.
“Wow…” Aquarina looked surprised as I stepped out of the bathroom.
“Hm? What’s wrong?” I wondered.
“So cute…” she blushed.
“W-Wha… Why are you acting like you just met me?” I giggled. “Hehe, do you like it? My hair?”
“Yeah, it looks so cute!” she said with an enthusiastic nod. “I don’t think I’ve seen you with that hairstyle before.”
“Eh, well, I just wanted to look different today,” I said. “Like my boots? And this black leather skirt goes really well with it and the white shirt.”
“Yeah, you look really cool, Sylphy,” she nodded. “And cute… Wanna make out for breakfast?”
“I’m hungry, so you’ll have to give me a lot of kisses~” I smiled as her lips drew closer and we began making out.
I slipped my hands around her waist while she boldly grabbed my butt, not even trying to be subtle.
“Mooch, mooch~” she kissed my lips repeatedly. “Damn, I love your fat ass.”
“Y-You don’t have to say it like that!” I felt my face heat up.
“Heh, sorry~” she smiled and kissed me again—this time deeper, her tongue slipping in. It was hot. “Hm, that was nice.”
“Yeah~” I licked my lips. “Mooch!” I kissed her back. “Alright, let’s go eat. This goddess is starving!”
“Goddess, huh? I guess you are,” Aquarina giggled, playfully slapping my butt.
“H-Hey! You perv…” I pretended to be angry, but I bit my lip. I kind of liked it, even though it embarrassed me.
We walked downstairs and joined my parents, who were still enjoying their coffee. My brother was chatting with Celica nearby. The two had started dating and already acted adorably affectionate, like they were deeply in love, and it was obvious to everyone.
Honestly, I wished the best for my little brother. I was so happy he had confessed to Celica and she felt the same. I had known her for years, but she could be unpredictable, and it was sometimes hard to read her. I had already prepared to comfort him if his heart was broken, but thankfully that wasn’t necessary.
I just hoped there wouldn’t be problems in the capital once we moved there for the academy. An elf—especially a prince—with a demon would surely spark gossip, and some people might try to make his life miserable for “daring” to do such a thing.
Probably some fanatics would argue he mustn’t “taint” the bloodline with demon blood or something ridiculous. But if that ever happened, I would beat them and break every bone in their bodies.
Yeah, I was an overprotective big sister.
“Good morning, everyone,” I said. “What’s for breakfast today?”
“Morning, Sylphy. I see my absence has made you go back to waking up at 1 PM…” my mother sighed, crossing her arms. “That will change from now on, young lady. As the heir to the throne, you must always be disciplined.”
“Aw… but I’m technically on vacation,” I groaned, sitting down. “Once we get into the academy, we’ll have to wake up super early anyway.”
“She’s not wrong,” Aquarina nodded.
“Well, I guess it doesn’t matter for now, but you should still try to wake up early,” my mother said. “Either way, here’s your breakfast, dear. Eat a lot. I’ve noticed you’re constantly Cultivating.”
“Eh?” My mother’s words caught me off guard. “R-Really? You noticed?”
“Do you think it’s hard to sense how your energies are constantly fluctuating around your body and your magic circle?” she smiled. “I guess you’ve learned to cultivate without even putting conscious intent into it. That’s a good thing, but it puts a heavy strain on your body and consumes a lot of calories and nutrients. So you should eat more if you can.”
“Okay~ That isn’t a hard task!” I said excitedly as I saw the pancakes my mother had prepared—a big plate stacked with over ten of them, topped with syrup, whipped cream, berries, and butter. “And this looks delicious. Thank you, Mother.”
Despite already being over eighteen, I still loved being spoiled like when I was a kid…
As I ate with Aquarina, I noticed my brother showing Celica something he had made: a small puppet or golem crafted from Orichalcum formed from his own skin. It moved like a little golden statue.
“What do you think? Is it good enough? I was thinking of making him my second Familiar,” my brother asked her.
“Hmm, it’s not bad for your first try…” Celica nodded, but she was always ruthless when critiquing golems, puppets, or anything similar. “It lacks several important things: a specialized internal core, better joints, and maybe a cuter design too. It also has no soul, so you cannot really make a contract with it.”
“Ah, right, but how do I put a soul inside?” my brother wondered. He was still confused about those details. “I don’t think I can unless I delve into specific magic schools for that…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll help,” Celica said with a wide smile. “Here!” She touched the head of the small golden golem—only about ten centimeters tall—and infused it with a small phantasmal soul. Not a true soul, but an artificial one built from phantasmal energy. “It’s done.”
The golem suddenly began moving on its own, shaking its legs before falling over, unable to balance properly. Zephyrus quickly understood his mistakes.
“Oh, so that’s what you meant by better joints,” he nodded. “Okay, let’s modify it slowly… I’m still learning. Sorry if I’m too amateur about this.”
“It’s fine, hehe,” Celica giggled, gazing at him with her bright yellow eyes. “I’m so happy you’re interested in my passion…! We can share so much together now!”
“Yeah, well, I told you I would try to become part of your world,” my brother said.
His hand slowly reached toward hers. He shyly moved his fingers, trying to hold her hand. Celica’s hand twitched slightly at his touch. She noticed, looked back at Zephyrus while blushing, and timidly moved her hand closer until their fingers brushed—though it wasn’t full handholding yet.
Aw, they were both so shy! Come on, little brother, you have to be more assertive!
I glanced at my dad, who was nodding while pretending to read the newspaper from the dwarven city. He watched my brother’s attempt with a pleased smile.
Had he given him advice? Haha, I bet Dad had waited his whole life to have a son too.
After I finished breakfast—which grew even larger when my mother brought sandwiches and fruit—I started thinking about what to do today.
“I wonder, when are we going to the dungeons with everyone else?” I asked.
“Ah, I don’t know. I’m down for it anytime, but maybe not today?” Aquarina replied. “Maybe tomorrow or the day after would be better. We need some preparation, right?”
