Chapter 1978: Strength’s Evolution
—–
I looked at the Rank Up requirements again.
[Strength has reached Max Level and can now Rank Up.]
[Rank Up Requirements]:
[Max Level: 10/10]
[Tier 5 or higher Monster Core: 0/10]
[Tier 5 or higher Monster Blood Liters: 0/100]
[Push Ups: 0/1000]
[Sit Ups: 0/1000]
[Squats: 0/1000]
[Run 10 kilometers: 0/10]
“Okay, this shouldn’t be too impossible. I’ve got superhuman strength and this open area is really big, like a couple of kilometers wide, so let’s run!”
I stretched quickly, warmed up, drank some fruit juice, ate a sandwich, and then began running in circles around the destroyed forest.
While doing so, I gathered all the dropped items that some of the monsters occasionally left behind. Not every monster dropped something—it was a percentage chance based on the Luck Stat, apparently.
Over time, I collected a bunch of items anyway because I had hunted hundreds of monsters.
Once I finished the 10-kilometer run in about ten minutes, I moved on to push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.
I moved so fast that the numbers in the requirements climbed steadily—it was honestly quite amusing.
“Wow, wow, wow! You’re exercising!” Ignatius said. “Hahaha! You don’t even need to do this…”
“I know, but it doesn’t feel bad!” I replied. “I’ve always exercised through fighting and stuff, but maybe this is nice too! Breaking a good sweat, you know?”
As sweat dripped from my body, it grew much hotter. I felt my power and connection with Strength amplify.
I saw her beside me, starting to exercise along with me.
Eventually, after twenty minutes—for a grand total of half an hour—we finished.
“Phew! That was nice! I love exercising!” I chuckled, wiping sweat from my forehead.
“Here you go, Sylphy,” Yggdra said, handing me a bottle of fresh water. I drank it all in one go. “Ahh! Thank you, Yggdra! You’re a lifesaver… Anyway, is it done?”
I checked the requirements again.
[Strength has reached Max Level and can now Rank Up.]
[Rank Up Requirements]:
[Max Level: 10/10]
[Tier 5 or higher Monster Core: 10/10]
[Tier 5 or higher Monster Blood Liters: 100/100]
[Push Ups: 1000/1000]
[Sit Ups: 1000/1000]
[Squats: 1000/1000]
[Run 10 kilometers: 10/10]
With all the cores pulled from my inventory, every requirement was finally complete, and a new message appeared immediately.
[Strength] can now evolve! Do you wish to begin evolution right away?
[Yes] [No]
Looking at the message, I smiled and glanced back at Strength. She stared at me with her blazing eyes. She didn’t speak, didn’t say a word, but I could tell she was excited.
For the first time in my life, I was finally able to grow my own stats, and Strength—she—had been chosen as my first “Living Stat.”
I bet she felt proud somehow, or maybe even honored. Whatever the case, I couldn’t quite read her mind.
Except for one thing.
She, like me, burned with the desire to grow stronger, to surpass our limits, no matter the effort required.
As long as there’s a path, we’ll take it.
And if there’s no path, we’ll carve one with sweat, tears, and blood.
After pressing [Yes], Strength surged upward like a pillar of fire.
FLAAASH!
Her body glowed with bright orange light mixed with streaks of yellow. She grew taller—at least ten centimeters taller than me. Wow.
“Oohh!”
As I watched her grow, I felt her power flood through me. The Flames of Strength burned fiercer than ever; my physical body absorbed every wave of that energy.
[Congratulations, [Strength] has successfully Ranked Up to Rank E!]
[Strength–Rank E: Level 0/30]
[Total Strength has increased from 22 to 32!]
[All Sub-Stats have increased!]
[The Skill: [Flames of Strength: Lv2] has Leveled Up.]
[The Skill: [Flames of Strength: Lv3] has Leveled Up.]
[The Skill: [Overload: Lv0 (Locked)] has been unlocked!]
“Oooh! Overload?” I wondered. “What does this do?”
I quickly checked her status and then the new Skill.

Oh, not bad at all. Ten bonus Strength for the Rank Up, plus twenty across the sub-stats—no wonder my muscles felt like they were burning and growing stronger… even though I still look small and slender. Ugh, that’s probably the Elven bloodline at work.
As for Overload…
—–
[Overload Lv1]
[Type]: Active
[Skill Proficiency]: 0/10.000
[Description]: Temporarily forces Strength beyond its natural limits by igniting the Sub-Stats with condensed digital energy. Overload dramatically increases physical might, but strains the body and Strength’s soul if used recklessly.
[Effects]:
Active Effect (1):
Increases Raw Power, Explosive Force, and Impact Force by +50% for 60 seconds.
Greatly boosts Muscle Density and Bone Reinforcement to prevent self-damage during Overload.
Temporarily increases Resonance, enhancing synchronization between Sylphy and Strength.
After effect ends, Strength enters a Fatigue State for 10 seconds, reducing Raw Power by 10%.
[Cooldown]: 180 seconds.

Oh, this is solid. A nice temporary burst of raw power—perfect for finishing off a stubborn enemy that refuses to die, which happens to me way too often.
“Hmm? It’s great honestly, and this is just level 1. If it keeps leveling, it’ll become amazing. The cooldown is fine, I guess. Will it decrease as it levels up?”
Ignatius stared at the screen, eyes wide. “Huh, this is unfair. Why can’t I get skills this cool? I only get fire.”
“Well, you’re a Fire Spirit. What did you expect, genius?” Beelzebub sighed.
Yggdra nodded sagely. “Hmm, it’s a good skill. I wonder what the other locked ones do.”
Armageddon cackled. “Kukuku… Sylphy, you’re becoming a monster. That’s good.”
“Hey, I’m not a monster…” I sighed. “And look who’s talking.”
Strength’s silhouette puffed out her chest proudly, flames swirling around her like a blazing aura.
Alice smiled warmly. “Overload is Strength’s way of showing her potential. As she ranks up, Overload will evolve too. It’ll get a much longer duration, higher boosts, maybe even new effects.”
“New effects?” I gasped. “Like what?”
Alice shrugged. “You’ll see. For now, try not to break the dungeon. Look at this level of destruction…”
“Ah, that’s more like Armageddon’s crazy attack thing,” I said. “She did it. I was just going with the flow.”
“Hmph, well, what else did you want us to do? That monster was just too strong,” Armageddon replied. “I wish I had this cursed miasma before. I wonder how strong I could’ve grown, or how strong my army could’ve become… oh well.”
