- Chapter 643 - 643: A king’s role (part 6)

“Boooom!”, the very moment all that nether entered the body of the captain, his battle aura reserves shot through the roof, as a proof of it, there was excess of nether which was being naturally released by his body, causing changes on his appearance.
“Royal Reinforcement, Regent’s War Blessing!”.
For starters a pink flame wisp started burning on the helmet of his armor, in front of the gem which contained the lust nether of the Asmadian Lord, then a dark ominous mist lit up on the eye sockets of the black skull decorations on his sword.
And lastly, “blood” dripped out of the gems on his armor which contained the nether of the Balax Lord, but that wasn’t the real interesting part, but the fact that… said magic treasures manifested on his battle aura avatar.
Of course, they were ethereal-looking being made with the battle aura that was being released by the captain, but they weren’t simply designed after his real magic treasures, somehow, they were linked to the real ones and shared their properties with their battle aura manifested counterparts.
‘Now that’s interesting, no matter how much magic blacksmiths have tried there has never been a way to make magic equipment for battle avatars’, thought Daimon as he used the infinity eyes to see how was the captain doing the previous.
By injecting more mana into his eyes, he became able to see invisible patterns made out of nether that connected the gems on the captain’s treasures to his battle avatar, which were radiating the excess of nether he had after being charged by the others.
‘I see, he somehow linked the “existence” of his treasures to his own battle aura, so they are recognized as a part of his battle avatar and manifested, the effects are still diminished but he now has proper equipment on his battle avatar… Liz is so going to love this’, amusingly thought Daimon as he was reminded of a certain blacksmith fox girl.
Also, this seemed to be an application of lineage abilities, because the origin of everything was the fact that the captain now had too much nether so his body was naturally releasing some of it just by him breathing, a state which was slightly similar to what happened to the Risha sisters when they used their strongest techniques alongside their wings.
In other words, it’s a technique that has the requirement of someone exceeding what he should be able to do at his respective realm, the difference between the captain and the Risha sisters being that he had to receive help to enter this state, while those three pretty birds could do it by themselves.
As if they could tell they were being praised by Daimon, a certain trio of sisters looked in a specific direction with sparkling eyes, before they focused on what they were doing earlier… beat the hell up of Walford for having spoken about their “closeness” to Daimon, so that they would be targeted, but that’s beside the point.
The captain who was already displeased at the lack of wariness or even surprise from the masked silver haired youth, felt his body tremble with anger at Daimon’s next words.
“I even waited for those guys to finish gathering nether, so what is this street mage like performance, what a disappointment”, certainly the concept used was worth investigating, and since a certain undead head maid was burning with expectancy, the corpse of the captain already had a place to go.
However, the way the captain executed it was indeed half-baked at best, perhaps because he couldn’t enter the state needed for this to work without help, or it could also be because he was a “flawed” product to begin with.
“For someone that I’m pretty sure was modeled after that crazy girl, you really are quite a letdown, well I guess it was done on purpose so that those three could control you unlike what happened with her”, casually said Daimon which finally made the captain lose it.
“How dare you compare me, the regent designated by the three Lord with those toys whose sole purpose was to be used once, especially with that broken trash who couldn’t even qualify for that purpose!!!”.
“Besides, what the hell do you mean with “waiting”, even if you had the upper hand earlier you weren’t in a situation in which you could put your attention on anything else you, cocky bastard!”, he roared making Daimon smirk behind his mask.
Leaving aside the fact that he didn’t like in the slightest how the captain referred to the nethereal sisters, now that his doubt about what those non-combatant guys and the other guards were focusing on, was answered, they no longer had any value for him.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, with a few words, those familiarly terrifying magic circles appeared in front of Daimon, but this time the captain didn’t show any signs of trying to dodge.
In less than a second white light had gathered on those magic circles to then be shot in the form of then rays of white light at the captain who tightened his grip on his sword, making his battle aura to the same on the battle aura projection of it.
The giant battle aura projection of the captain’s Fallen, exploded in death and wrath nether to then be swung at the incoming ten rays of white light.
“Booooom!”, the result was a huge energy explosion that caused a blinding light to engulf the sky for a second, followed by a deafening shockwave, once the clash ended the sight of the captain whose sword was perfectly unscathed this time, was revealed, his martial art and Daimon’s White Heavenly Javelins ended in a tie.
“Hahaha, did you see that, hurry up and use that sword spell I’m going to slash right through it next…”, the excited words of the captain were stopped by… a scream.
“Aghhhh!”, the horrible scream made the captain look in the direction of its origin, just for him to see nine huge craters with burning ashes in the center of them, as for the scream it came from the tenth crater where there was one pile of burning ashes and the figure of half charred to a crisp guard, who was screaming, though it ended the next second as he was consumed by the white flames.
Amused by the confused expression on the captain’s face, Daimon casually snapped his fingers, making magic circles appear in front of him once again as he spoke.
“When I said that I was using the Arch rank version of my spell, I never specified which stage of the Arch rank that was”, he mockingly said.
“You fucking bast…”, the captain’s insults were interrupted by Daimon pointing his hand at the captain.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, this time the captain managed to catch a glimpse of what happened earlier, it’s quite a simple thing anyway, Daimon simply had another ten magic circles appear at the exact same spots as the ones in front of him, but on his back.
In other words, he was capable of shooting twenty discharges of White Heavenly Javelin at the same time, also unlike previously when the attacks basically moved in a straight direction, he… was able to freely control them at will, it required him to use one of his hands as a guide though.
“Battleground Slaughter Corroding Step!”, the captain saw the ten white rays shot from the back curving and then spreading towards the remaining ten non combatants and guards and he immediately flashed away alongside his battle avatar, appearing in front of them with the battle aura manifested Fallen on the hands of his avatar already cladded in battle aura.
He has tested the strength of the manifested giant version of Fallen and knows that just by cladding it in battle aura, without the need to use an attack type martial art he can deal with the long-range attacks of the masked silver haired youth, which is why he now had the confidence to clash with the comet sword.
What he didn’t expect however is that the enemy could shot more of said long range attacks at the same time, having multiple casting spots is uncommon but not unheard off, however he for sure has never heard or seen someone with as many as the enemy he was dealing with.
“Booom!”, the giant sword was slashed at such a high speed that it created a shockwave as it aimed to slash the incoming rays of white light, just for Daimon to beckon with his hands, making the white rays twist at the last second, actually avoiding the sword by a few centimeters.
“No!”, the captain nearly went mad on the spot, he made his battle avatar punch in the direction of the white rays, and managed to obstruct a few resulting in white fire exploding on the armor of his battle avatar, however some still escaped his grasp and chased at the remaining guys that immediately turned around to flee for dear life.
“Captain hel…!”, the first one to get caught was one of the guards who turned into ashes before he even had the chance to scream, speaking of the captain he proposed himself to use his movement martial art to catch the remaining three rays of light in order to save those that were being pursued, but then the ten javelins that were originally aimed at the captain but were dodged when he flashed away earlier, reached him.
“Booom!”, Daimon aimed them at the legs of captain’s battle avatar, and while this time they couldn’t directly pierce and dive into the battle avatar, they exploded on the armor creating a few cracks on it and also pushing the captain frontwards due to the high impact force behind of them.
“Gah”, the captain’s battle avatar fell face first on the ground and while the humiliation of being knocked down was burning the captain, he wasn’t the only one burning.
“Noooo!”, the three guys that the captain originally intended to save were caught by the heavenly javelins and exploded in white flames.
Seeing the hatred on the eyes of the captain as he got up, Daimon raised an eyebrow.
“Heh, I didn’t take you to be a sentimental guy, so what’s with all the effort to save them, don’t tell me you need them to keep this state, or perhaps to use whatever trump card you have left?”, said Daimon as he snapped his fingers once again creating twenty magic circles for the heavenly javelins.
This is basically how an Archmage fights, a lot of heavy fire being shot at the enemy continuously, of course they normally use wide area spells instead of single target ones like Daimon is doing, but it’s not his fault, he hasn’t been able to create a wide area spell to use with at least three of the elements that compose his Demon Light, yet.
Also, Daimon’s fighting style tilts towards the one of a knight more than that of a mage, since it’s inspired in Aura’s one, though he has modified it to his liking, because Aura completely couldn’t use long range attacks before she obtained her grimoire, her element was too volatile for that after all.
That battle maniac wolf girl still doesn’t like to use wide area spells though, because that doesn’t work for her crazy strengthening method, she prefers close combat direct confrontations, but Daimon wouldn’t mind, he is not a “pure” swordsman unlike Aura after all.
“Captain we won’t be able to survive until we are read…”, one of the few remaining guards spoke to the captain only for him to be… stomped to death by the captain’s battle avatar.
“C-Captain!”, the other survivors screamed in unison, they tried to get away but dark pink flame chains came out of the helmet on the captain’s battle avatar, restraining them the next second.
“Royal Reinforcement, Regent Conscription!”, the bodies of the remaining guards and non-combatants started withering away the next second, the same thing happened to the guy that was crushed to death earlier, until they all turned into piles of bones that then crumbled apart the next second.
“Well, I guess that’s one way to solve it, I don’t see any change happening though, so you have to do it yourself the slow way this time”, casually said Daimon as he saw all the nether and vitality that the captain stole from those guys flow through the insides of the battle avatar instead of it being absorbed by the captain like he expected.
“Shut up, go to hell!!!”,
And now that the captain didn’t have anything weighting him down, he turned to see Daimon with bloodshot eyes, it’s not like he cared about the guards that just died, through his many years serving the Lords he has had countless squads under him who had died for the glory of the Lord.
No, what angered him is the fact that he had to resort to “conscription” instead of “Recruitment”, he as a member of the Balax army fights the way an important officer of an army would.
And so, the power he can attain from his subordinates is stronger and much more efficient when is given to him voluntarily than when it is taken away, after all “morale” seems to be a big thing for the Balax techniques, which is why having to take the nether of his subordinates that way was a stain in his record and it also screwed up his plans for this fight, the captain was livid.
“I have massacred countless challengers that had come to defy the Lords through so many years, but never in my life did I really wish to kill someone so much!”, roared the captain as he flashed from his previous position, to which Daimon simply said.
“Well, it’s good to that you got to experience it before dying”.
“Clang!”, the captain’s giant version of Fallen clashed against Daimon’s Gram, causing a thunderous metal colliding sound to echo through the sky, sparks flew as both swords tried to slash each other down.
“Tsk!”, the captain clicked his tongue, though his sword wasn’t losing against the one of the enemy, he still couldn’t cut through it just with Fallen, he kind of expected it at this point, after all the sword of the enemy seemed to be alive as it could move on its own meaning that in terms of grade that sword is a much rarer treasure than his Fallen.
“Boooom!”, still, the captain decided to take a page from Daimon’s book, and extended the left hand of his battle avatar, battle aura exploded on its left arm as a second manifestation of Fallen was created on the spot.
“If one Fallen can deal with that damn stupid sword of yours, how about two!”, shouted the captain as he slashed the second Fallen at Gram, but he screwed up in the process because he… insulted Narasha.
“Humph!”, the sword girl softly snorted as she released a whole bunch of the matter stored inside Disaster, making the white flames enveloping Gram, burn in a much fiercer way, the sudden impulse actually pushed the captain backwards, which made his second attack miss.
And that wasn’t everything he had to worry about, the twenty magic circles that Daimon had created earlier but which had been left there without being activated all came to life gathering white light in front of them.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, twenty rays of white light were shot towards the captain who inwardly cursed, battle aura exploded on the legs of his avatar as he used his movement martial art while soaring into the sky, he has the ability to fly so naturally he should take advantage of it.
Earlier he was lacking in terms of maneuverability while flying with his avatar, but in this state, he had a deeper connection and so his avatar moved in s much more fluid way.
“Battleground Slaughter Corroding Step!”, the captain flashed through the sky, successfully going out of the range of the javelins which actually chased after him, but stopped once he put some distance between himself and the spit from which they were shot.
But just as the captain was happy to have found a way to deal with the continuous barrage of long-distance attacks of the masked silver-haired enemy, said enemy suddenly appeared not too far from him.
“Blink”, and to the captain’s displeasure, he saw Daimon beckon at him and the white rays of light which had stopped pursuing him, continued their chase.
‘He can fucking control those things even after the conditions of the spell have been met!!!’, he cursed in his heart.
Normally, when a spell is shot, after it reaches the limits of the conditions used for it, it loses control and disappears, in this case going out of the range that the white rays covered should have been enough for them to disappear or force the masked enemy to make them explode.
This can only be changed after a mage develops its Domain, because the control over mana increases to the point where it can be manipulated even after the conditions of a spell have been fulfilled.
However, he didn’t know that Demon Light contains both mana and battle aura, and while mana is an external power and thus is “stranger” to the body, battle aura originates within one’s body which makes it easier to control it at ones will, that’s the origin of Will Manipulation by the way, otherwise knights who don’t have the precise energy manipulation capacities of mages, would be completely outmatched and that is not the case.
And that allowed Daimon to learn how to absorb and control his Demon Light past the limits that a mage would have.
“Battleground Slaughter Corroding Step!”, the captain once again flashed to get away, refusing to believe that the enemy could pull such an obscure feat twice, just to see Daimon appear in front of him once again.
“Blink”, and very much to the captain’s displease, those rays of white light followed him as well, so he repeated the same another two times and saw red after realizing that nothing had changed.
“What the hell, how are those damn things not disappearing, the energy contained in them should be leaking through the sky!”, he shouted with an indignant voice, so now imagine how his face twisted when he saw Daimon snap his fingers, making twenty magic circles appear around him.
“White Heavenly Javelin”, and so another twenty rays of white light were added to the mix, for a total of forty of them flying around in circles, blocking the captain’s way of retreat, he was surrounded, which made the latter feel a vein bulge on his neck, he, the proxy of the three Lords was being chased like a rat throughout the battlefield, it was too much.
“Battleground Slaughter Corroding Crushing Slash!”, both swords of the battle avatar exploded in battle aura to then be slashed at each other, they had once been forced against each other by Gram but this time the captain was doing it out of his own will.
And it was for a good reason, considering that Daimon closed his fist making the forty heavenly javelins enclose on the captain.
“Booooom!”, a giant black and dark red explosion, surrounded by forty smaller but much more blinding white explosions suddenly engulfed the sky, the air trembled and the ground below exploded due to the huge amount of pressure caused by the clash of energies.
The explosion actually took a whole minute to settle down and two figures covered in smoke, flew out of the clash in opposite directions, naturally they were Daimon and the captain who looked at each other to determine who won the encounter.
“Crack!”, the captain gritted his teeth as he saw the cracks appear on the projection of his Fallen on the right side, however he also wildly smiled the next second because he had finished his preparations.
‘It was such a close call damn it!’, he inwardly cursed as he closed his eyes, patterns started appearing all over his battle avatar which started… shrinking?
“Royal Reinforcement, Regent’s War Armor!”, the battle avatar of the captain shrank to the limit before it was absorbed into his body, turning into countless black, dark red and dark pink patterns that covered the captain from head to toe.
He actually used his battle avatar to enter the strongest state for the members of the Balax Army, which now Daimon knew as called “Ancient Battle Armor”, instead of using either spells or martial arts for it!
