 - Chapter 680 - 680: How to deal with enemies from all sides (part 4)

The appearance of a tiger shaped blood specter naturally drew Dana’s attention, she still was marveled about how absorbing the red strand from that Lord ranked wildcat, which had been attacked by Daimon’s silver light, granted her an improvement in agility.
‘What will I get if I defeat that tiger!’, she couldn’t help but wonder as she used her lightning to crush a lizard black blood beast.
Feline type blood specters weren’t easy to find after all so it was normal that the little tiger was excited about it, if one knew the previous, which wasn’t the case for Arianna who couldn’t help but ask.
“What are those sparkling eyes for, we have hunted a tiger shaped blood specter together before?”.
Which made Dana’s face slightly redden for a second, only now she realized that it had slipped her mind to tell Arianna about the effect of Daimon’s silver light on the red strands of the blood specters that had been tainted by nether and coincidentally, this was a good time for it, because another of the four Arch ranked black blood specters was a wolf.
“Big sister Arianna, make sure to be the one to do the most when fighting that wolf, I’ll do the same when it comes to that tiger, there is not time to explain but it has something to do with big brother Daimon’s silver light”, said the little tiger girl, which was enough for Arianna to nod in agreement.
Because though she isn’t aware of the specifics, unlike the Risha sisters and the other girls who had grown closer to Daimon during their time in Neptune, since she only got to know Daimon a few days before this started, she knows her “senior brother” is anything but average.
“Fine, we’ll talk about it later”, mumbled the werewolf girl to then gaze at Badr and Lyn as she said.
“Miss… nah I can’t, Lyn and mister if you don’t mind, let me coordinate our group for this fight”.
“I’m not used to fight alongside others, so I have no problem listening to miss Arianna”, said the nethereal as he choked a racoon-like black blood specter which neither Daimon, Dana or Arianna had seen before.
“Hey, I don’t mind you calling me “Lyn” but why are you making it sound as if I’m not worthy of being treated with propriety!”, exclaimed the sky-blue haired girl, as always, she had quite the explosive temper, despite her pretty face, to which Arianna smirked in response, that was exactly the reason, she couldn’t bring herself to call her “miss Lyn”.
“Humph, whatever I’m more of a fighter than a commander anyway, since that’s Pheli’s role, I’ll listen but you better not screw up”, ultimately said Lyn, that being said she was inwardly laughing, apparently, contrary to what one would believe after seeing their not so harmonious interactions, she actually liked Arianna as a friend, which made sense, Lyn is after all quite the fierce girl and Arianna is used to deal with “rough” personalities, because that’s really common in the Argent family which is full of battle maniacs for the mage side and muscleheads for the knight side.
Her father, the Supreme Elder being one of them for example, anyway, the point is that Arianna knew how to lead other people and that’s also one of the reasons as to why Aura accepted her as her disciple.
Of course, the Arch ranked black blood specters weren’t waiting for their targets to get ready, but the previous exchange between Arianna and those three was short enough to end before they reached them and they still managed to listen to Arianna’s orders and react according to it.
“Badr, you block the wolf and the tiger, Lyn I leave that bear to you, I’ll fight the remaining snake with Dana backing me up”.
“Yes!”, the same answer was given by those three as they focused on their assigned roles, the first one to depart was Badr, because the wolf and the tiger were the faster out of the four Arch ranked black blood specters.
Seeing the incoming two different yet equally dangerous clawed paws, the nethereal crossed his arms in front of him before his legs tensed, his body exploded in dark red energy as he flashed away the next second.
“Charge!”, with a loud shout, Badr appeared in front of the wolf and the tiger’s paws to then clash against them head on.
“Clang!”, first, the sound of metals colliding echoed through the sky as the claws of the tiger and the wolf landed on Badr’s body, there was a very short period of stagnation, before Badr alongside the two Arch ranked black blood specters flew into the distance, the nethereal had actually dragged them alongside him, successfully diminishing the number of enemies in half for his teammates.
That being said, the same attack with which he killed that guy earlier in a single go, didn’t even break the fingers of the wolf and the tiger, though the claws with which they attacked Badr did chip, based on the furious growls that they let out.
Lyn couldn’t help but compliment Arianna for the way she had assigned the enemies, just by that exchange she could tell that while the nethereal won’t be able to kill the two middle stage Arch ranked black blood specters if he fights the two of them at the same time, at least not while hiding his extra arms, the specters won’t be able to harm him either.
Which might sound like a waste of time, if you don’t take into account the fact that by taking on those two, Badr not only made it possible for his teammates to fight with the intention to kill the remaining Arch ranked black blood specters, but also the damage he was going to do to them will be minimal, since he will be focusing in keeping them busy, so at its given time, the little tiger girl and Arianna can make their appearances and claim those red strands that will be beneficial for them.
‘I guess anyone related to an outstanding female strategist of a fox race, is bound to know a thing or two about using their brains, she even gave me the quite a fitting role!’, excitedly thought Lyn as she saw the next black blood specter which had reached them.
“Roar!”, it was a bear whose steps were so heavy the ground cracked with each of them, and was now furiously clawing in Lyn’s direction.
The sky-blue haired girl extended her right arm making a total of nine blue rings to appear around it, all the way from her shoulder to her wrist before she turned into a blue flash that shot itself towards the bear’s paw.
“Boooom!”, the result of Lyn’s pretty little fist clashing against the giant paw of the bear, was s thunderous explosion followed by a shockwave that made the ground below the two of them bent downwards.
However, that single explosion wasn’t the end of it, unlike what happened with Badr, there was no clear victor when it came to the bear clashing against Lyn, since none of the two retreated even a centimeter, in fact the bear used its other paw to attack the sky-blue haired girl right away.
“That’s how it’s supposed to be!”, with a wild smile on her pretty face, one of the remaining eight blue energy rings that were surrounding Lyn’s right arm faded to then appear around her left fist with which she met the incoming attack of the bear.
“Booom!”, just like before, the result was a loud explosion and another shockwave that expanded the crater on the ground a few more meters, but none of those two gained the upper hand.
It’s worth mentioning that for its size and heaviness, that giant bear was incredibly fast and so a claw was already coming at Lyn the very moment the previous clash ended, unfortunately for the bear, Lyn had another punch ready to counter it.
“Hahaha!”, amidst the loud laughs of the sky-blue haired girl, continuous explosions which created an agglomeration of black nether and blue energy, as well as a continuously expanding crater on the ground, drew the attention of Arianna.
‘Yeah, I knew she was crazy for violence since I saw her, I guess being the disciple of a battle maniac gave me a sharp eye to recognize them… still, she is the only one that can deal with that bear in a short period of time’, thought Arianna as she saw the two fierce “beasts” that were attacking each other, waiting for the other to make a mistake and be turned into meat paste.
In terms of strength, the bear was the strongest among the four Arch ranked black blood beasts, which is why Arianna assigned Lyn to fight against it, because she has the strongest attack power between them.
And now the last among the four Arch ranked black blood beasts and the slowest among them, arrived, it was a giant black snake, not the poisonous type but one shaped like a boa judging by the pattern on its skin that used different shades of black.
“Hisssss!”, the giant snake used its large body to crush the two small figures in front of it, or at least that’s what it tried to do when it was stopped by a though solid looking, still ethereal red-transparent giant wolf that appeared out of nowhere to then bite on one of the sides of the snake.
“Crack!”, the ground in the vicinity exploded due to the clash of giants, leaving behind a disaster, however the snake immediately coiled its body around the wolf which it recognized as an enemy Arch ranked blood specter, based on its color, the energy it was radiating which antagonized his and its size.
Only to coil around nothing, because the giant wolf had vanished into thin air before the snake could use its strong muscles to crush it to death, in exchange a blinding yellow stream of light passed in front of the snake’s face, as a lightning condensed claw scratched the snake’s eyes.
“Hisssssss!”, though shallow, large wounds were opened on the snake’s eyes, since the lightning claws cut through the thin membrane that protected them, making the snake scream due to pain to then start smacking its body all over the place trying to kill the enemies it was fighting.
The reason as to why Arianna chose the snake for both herself and Dana was because it was the slowest, making it easy for the little tiger girl with her originally continuous high speed movement capacities to participate in the fight, despite the gap in strength, by looking for small openings created by Arianna.
Or that was the plan that Arianna had in mind, because that’s the dynamic they used before, since her ability allowed her to manifest that giant wolf which’s destruction didn’t affect her, meaning she could clash head on with the blood specters and more importantly could take the attacks from them, in the stead of her companions, namely Dana and that girl they found at the underwater temple.
But now she realized that she was underestimating the little tiger girl, because while she still took the chance to attack while the snake was distracted by the giant wolf disappearing, the fact is that Dana attacked the snake head on before it could react, in other words she had become stronger and much more accustomed to fight while they were separated, than what she thought.
With a praising smile on her face, Arianna’s hair, wolf ears and tail turned red colored as torrents of bright red energy surrounded her body, in a fraction of a second the red giant wolf was back and ready to pounce on the snake to then use its claws to create large wounds on the scales of the snake.
…
While those four were dealing with the Arch ranked black blood specters, Daimon kept preparing the attack he was going to use to deal with the black clouds, which made the woman sealed inside the sphere of chains to grit her teeth.
“What the hell are you waiting for, attack him!”, shouted Claire, while the Arch ranked black blood specters were being held by Arianna and the others, they didn’t have the time to kill all the Lord ranked blood specters that had appeared in the area.
But of course, Arianna wouldn’t commit such an obvious mistake after asking to lead the group in Daimon’s absence, the reason as to why she focused on the Arch ranked black blood specters after they had entertained/killed the Lord ranks for a moment, is because she has seen what Daimon’s silver light did to nether corroded chains before.
While complaining but unable to go against Claire’s orders in such a short period of time, a dozen of black blood specters reached Daimon’s vicinity, to then… explode in silver light.
Horrible screams were produced out of the mouths of the black blood specters as black strands of energy were forced out of them, making large parts of their bodies to turn back to a red color.
The reason behind of the previous is simple, the area was so saturated by Daimon’s silver light that even at distance, the black blood specters were affected, in other words they couldn’t approach Daimon in his current state, the only exception would have been the Arch ranked ones, but they were fighting Arianna and the others.
“What!”, Claire couldn’t help but exclaims, let alone herself, someone like Lyn who has access to all kinds of records was taken by surprise after seeing Daimon purifying the corrosion caused by nether without any side effect, nor complication, so this reaction was normal.
Similar to how anger was the most normal reaction, when she saw the other black blood specters that managed to stop in time, suddenly changing their focus from Daimon to the now mixed black and red blood specters.
A result of both they instinctively not wanting to die due to deepening too much into the silver light saturated field created by Daimon, and the primary order given to them by the lords which Claire couldn’t overwrite, which was, fighting the normal blood specters.
Well in this case, the black blood specters put all their might in resorting to it because the other option was a certain death, at least this way they had a chance.
“Damn it, what the hell is that masked bastard’s lineage!”, cursed Claire, for a second, she thought of trying to call more black blood specters, but she decided against it because they would be Lord ranked ones at most and they wouldn’t make a difference in the current situation.
Not when she just confirmed that they literally couldn’t even touch the masked silver haired youth, even if he didn’t try to defend himself but concentrated in preparing a strong technique, and to make things worse she saw Lyn and the others fighting on par with black blood specters that outranked them without any problem.
‘Tsk, I didn’t want to do it this way, but I’ll be the one in danger if that masked bastard dispels the black clouds too fast because no one is getting in his way!’, cursed Claire to then control the black chains to make a few modifications to the symbols she had previously engraved on the ground around the frozen lake.
“Don’t blame me, you three bastards were dragging things on purpose to use me against Dian anyway”, said Claire, before cracking sounds could be heard coming from all over the area, their origin were the biggest pieces of black ice that were spread through the frozen wasteland, all exploding at the same time.
The black ice melted away turning into a black substance that was absorbed into the ground, to then be channeled into the black chains, which came out of the ground the next second.
The black chains which were now completely corroded even at their origin attacked the sphere of chains, breaking its way into it.
“Crack!”, without making use of the symbols that were engraved, but the black chains instead, the sphere of chains was destroyed on the spot, it’s worth mentioning that the water of the lake got drained into the chains as well, leaving only the frozen surface where the now broken pieces of black chains landed.
“Ah, freaking finally, you bastards are dead now…”, said a familiar female voice coming from the cloud of black energy that was released when the seal broke, but her sentence was interrupted midway when a blinding silver shooting star soared into the sky, diving into the black clouds that were covering the area.
Naturally the clouds were immediately dispelled and the black rain stopped falling in every area where the clouds were destroyed, it’s worth mentioning that not all the black clouds were dispelled, a couple were left behind, in the area where Badr was holding back the wolf and the tiger.
“I can hear your whining all the way from here “How is it possible, he was still charging his attack”, and here I thought I knew you enough to guess your action course, I give up betting against someone taught by a female fox is a bad idea”, said the sky-blue haired girl as she punched the bear on the face making it fly backwards a few meters.
“Roar!”, the bear roared as it was captured by black chains that came out of a black portal that appeared out of nowhere, to then be dragged into the portal which disappeared the next second.
Something similar happened at Arianna’s battlefield, where the giant red wolf bit the snake by its neck to then toss it away, right in time for a portal out of which black chains came out to catch it and take it away from this place.
“I told you, scheming people are easy prey for someone that has been trained by lady Erin”, said Arianna whose hair, wolf ears and tail were returning to their light brown color as the giant red wolf was absorbed back into her body as she reunited with Lyn alongside Dana, just in time for Daimon to land next to them to then say.
“Contrary to what most would believe, strong or cautious people aren’t the hardest to deal with for those whose focus is strategy but Irrational and unpredictable ones, because their actions are difficult to be directed the way one wants them to, this is where those that are really cunning and those that believe they are cunning, can be easily differentiated”.
The first thing Erin taught Daimon about strategies, was how to deal with those that think too highly of their own brains.
“To deal with fake strategists or those that believe they are smarter than others, you just need to trick them by mixing lies and truth, making them believe that though things are going their way, there is a chance for a dent in their “plans” to appear, will ten out ten times make them rush things and make a mistake”, he said.
Long story short, Daimon orchestrated all this to see what trump cards did Claire had up her sleeves, and it perfectly worked, if she had directed all the nether she used to break out of the seal as fast as possible, to attack them, it would have been a hassle to deal with it.
Probably Daimon would have had to use Core Synchrony, or his black sea emblem might have had to interfere, but that came with its own inconveniences.
Daimon knew that the Lords weren’t watching over this area as of current, but if an “external” force caused a ruckus in their nether farm, their attention will for sure be directed to it.
So, if they blew up the nether in this place, they would have to rush to finish the fight and leave the vicinity, however if the one to do it was Claire, then things changed, as low as the impression of the Lords was in Daimon’s mind, at the very least Byron wasn’t stupid, so Daimon was sure he wouldn’t trust Claire to be on their side.
And after being given a clear explanation of her personality by Lyn, Daimon knew what Claire’s course of action would be like, so he decided to pin all the blame on what was going to happen here, on her.
She was a petty and self-centered person, a perfect scapegoat to take the blame and since she had broken her originally fragile business relation with the Lords by herself, this would make the Lords direct their swords, to the one in which Claire would rely instead of them, in other words Dian, or in the Blood Prison realm, Arlion and his group.
