- Chapter 718 - 718: Challenges, Alabaster Horned Dolphin Princess Version (part 5)

“Let’s see who’ll be the one to die then!!!”, death is apparently quite a sensitive subject for the snake, well, at leas his own death, so being told right to the face by Lyn that he was done for, obviously angered him.
“Black Death Frozen Mountain Spear!”, without moving from his current position, the snake opened his mouth to then shoot an agglomeration of earth nether and ice mana which as it advanced towards Lyn solidified into an earth and ice spear.
“Crack!”, of course such simple attack was nothing for Lyn, even when it was enhanced by the surrounding Domain which favored the earth and ice spear, the alabaster dolphin princess simply punched frontwards and her shockwave destroyed the attack, but that wasn’t the end of the previous.
“Black Death Frozen Mountain Hammer!”, this time an earth and ice hammer descended from the sky upon Lyn, which indeed gave it an extra boost thanks to gravity, but once again the alabaster dolphin princess destroyed it with a punch.
‘Simple long-range attacks like those are useless against me, that guy has devoured Rendon so he should know that fully well’, thought Lyn.
And she was right, the snake simply used those spells in order to prepare something else.
“Black Death Ice Mirror Tombstone!”.
“Black Death Earth Resonating Tombstone!”.
That was a set of spells that were meant to work together, the first made all the tombstones which engravings had the shape of sea magic beasts, to had their frontal faces freeze, creating a whole bunch of black ice “mirrors”, the second one on the other hand made the tombstones which engravings had the shape of land magic beasts grow a layer of black rock.
“Black Death Frozen Mountain Charge!”, with a loud shout the snake flashed from his previous position to then appear above Lyn, thanks to his Domain as well as the hell tundra spell, he was actually equal to Lyn in terms of speed, despite his larger body size.
“Explosive Echo Fist”, even so, Lyn answered with her staple technique, since she has already faced that movement spell before.
“Clang!”, as expected the initial collision between the snake and the alabaster dolphin princess, produced sparks as well as the sound of metals colliding, followed by both spells cancelling each other out.
Now, normally what would happen next is that those two would then be forced backwards due to the impact, however two different things happened this time.
First and formal, the snake who was supported by his Domain “toughened up” the backslash, so there was nothing that prevented him from continuing his assault.
And second, a few tombstones lit up in black-brown nether as well as dark blue mana as Lyn was moving backwards, before they released spears and hammers like those used by the snake not too long ago.
“Seismic Step”, being faced with a dozen of earth and ice spears and hammers coming towards her, Lyn stomped her right foot on the ground.
“Boooom!”, the shockwave spread evenly with Lyn as the center, blasting away all the incoming attacks, the resulting black dust veil was then dispersed not by the alabaster dolphin princess though, but by the snake which had shot himself towards Lyn without a second of interruption after using those attacks as a distraction.
“Black Death Wailing Chains”, this one was a new type of spell, one that solely used death nether by the way, the result were black chains with spiked mouths that were actually screaming, appearing out of nowhere to then surround Lyn.
“Black Death Frozen Mountain Mace Crush!”, following the previous, the snake lashed his tail at Lyn who was about to be engulfed by the screaming chains, using the earth and ice morning star that appeared on the tip of his tail as a blunt weapon.
“Earth Shattering Seal”, from within the nearly closed off pile of screaming black nether chains, the calm voice of the alabaster dolphin princess could be heard, next a loud shattering sound echoed through the sky.
“Crack!”, the chains, the ground, the tombstones and lastly the rock and ice Morningstar tail tip, all turned into dust the next second.
“Boooom!”, the shockwave then pushed everything away from Lyn, that included the snake which though didn’t suffer any wound, since it hadn’t reached Lyn earlier, was still sent flying to the other side of his Domain, despite receiving support from it.
‘That was the attack which nearly had me and Rendon killed earlier, now unless it directly hits me, it won’t cause me any trouble’, excitedly thought the snake to then say.
“Black Death Wailing Tombstone!”, this time all the remaining tombstones, in other words the ones which had engravings of human or magic beasts that weren’t sea or land type ones, were covered in a black substance out of which screams could be heard coming.
The fighting plan of the enemy was simple, he was going to throw dozens of spells at Lyn while he looked for a chance to land a proper hit, it might sound obvious, but this is actually the most realistic way to fight against Lyn, since ambushes and schemes basically don’t work against her.
That being said, Lyn found the sudden spike in confidence in the snake’s eyes, rather annoying.
“What’s up with that arrogant glare, is blocking my strongest technique at twenty percent output such a glorious feat?”, she casually said, which made the snake’s heart sink for a second, Lyn did mention something like that before.
After stretching her neck, a couple of times, Lyn’s body exploded in sky blue energy, of course the enemy didn’t remain still and directly charged at her, but the alabaster dolphin princess didn’t care and simply continued with what she was doing.
“Black Death Frozen Mountain Charge!”, this time the three types of tombstones around Lyn activated alongside the snake appearing in front of her, releasing black death nether chains as well as rock and ice spears and hammers.
“True Seismic Step”, with a few words and without even stomping her foot unlike before, a blue energy ring appeared around the alabaster dolphin’s right ankle to then descend downwards.
The ground in a hundred meters around Lyn was compacted a dozen of centimeters creating a perfectly circular area that was lower in height when compared to the rest of the ground, but it didn’t last long.
“Booooom!”, as if a meteor had fallen from the sky, everything in the previously mentioned area was blasted away on the spot.
“…”.
After a couple of seconds of silence, Lyn waved her hand to disperse the huge dust veil which was created by the impact of her technique, revealing the deep crater of a hundred meters of diameter surrounding her, as well as the sight of the snake which was flown all the way towards the border of his domain.
Speaking of the snake, he had an expression of disbelief in his face as he looked at some areas of his body where parts of the black ice and black rock which covered the bone armor encompassing his body were now missing.
‘Are you fucking kidding me, just the shockwave peeled away parts of my frozen land snake king armor!!!’, he screamed to his insides.
“What, you guys can shorten the word “devil” out of your spells, but I can’t shorten the word “fake” out of mine?”, casually said Lyn as she stretched her arms.
What happened is simple, until now she was fighting using only 20% of her strength output and that was only enough to power “fake” techniques, with all the energy she released earlier she increased the output to 50%, and now had permanent blue energy rings around her ankles and wrists, similar to the one that floats behind her back, well, they are normal sized ones, while the one behind her back had grown to cover her upper and middle back area while it also grew to the sides.
And in case you wonder why she didn’t look like this when she fought Claire, if she also used 50% output, that’s simple she hadn’t recovered enough to continuously fight in this state back then, so she only used it for a single attack not like she needed more, since she wasn’t fighting alone.
“Phew, it sure feels less suffocating to let loose even if it’s just a bit”, said Lyn as she gazed at the snake who only now realized that there was another difference between that technique and the one used by the enemy before, the tombstones created by his domain which were destroyed… weren’t being reconstructed.
Earlier when Lyn used Earth Shattering Seal, she also destroyed them, but they regenerated a few moments later, consuming nether and mana from the Domain of course, but now while the Domain agglomerated once again after its energy was pushed aside by Lyn’s attack, the tombstones were not returning.
“Impossible!”, the snake shouted to then fly up into the sky, naturally his Domain followed him and to his relief, he saw that the missing tombstones were being reconstructed now.
‘So, it’s something limited to that area of the ground affected by her technique, damn it, there is no mention of anything like this in Rendon’s experience!’, cursed the snake, after seeing that though his domain was above the area destroyed by Lyn, his domain was not affected.
If Daimon or Mellie were here, they wound find resemblance between this and Annette’s ability to disrupt the enemy, the difference is that in Lyn’s case the “disruption” was weaker, but it affected an area instead of having to be directed at a single target.
‘Just as I supposed, how interesting’, thought Lyn as she saw the anger and panic in the eyes of the snake to then jump upwards, the blue energy rings around her ankles, wrists and back shook from time to time as she floated all the way to where the snake was.
This is not the flying ability of an Arch rank, but something more akin to the imitation used by wind affinity mages at the middle and peak Lord rank, she was using soft shockwaves to float and maneuver in the sky, it was more complicated and it required a precise control when compared to just moving one’s body with wind though.
‘Ahh, I want to hurry up and cross to the Arch rank already, that weird werewolf girl surely was having fun flying all over the place’, thought Lyn as she pointed her right fist towards the enemy.
“True Explosive Echo Fist”, like with the previous technique she used, Lyn now didn’t need to throw a punch, the blue energy ring around her wrist pulsed and then a huge blue shockwave travelled at an incredibly high speed towards the snake.
“Black Death Ice Slide!”, with urgency in his voice, the snake flashed from his current position using a different movement type spell, this one focused in speed only, still it was barely enough for the snake to get out of the one-hundred-meter width of Lyn’s shockwave which razed through everything in its way destroying the tombstones as well as the ice and rock that composed the “ground” of the snake’s Domain.
“Boooom!”, the shockwave clashed against the border of the Domain and only then did it disperse, in case you wonder why there was no clash with the border when Lyn first used her technique, that’s because she entered the Domain’s range when she flew this way, that’s right… she has been fighting inside of the enemy’s domain while under the pressure of it all this time.
“Black Death Ice Battle Armor!”.
“Black Death Earth Battle Armor!”.
Seeing the range and power behind a single of Lyn’s attacks in her current state, the snake directly used the ice armor from earlier, to then add a second layer of rock armor, so now he had bone, ice and rock armor covering his body.
And that wasn’t all, the snake threw the notion of rationing his energy so that he could help Marcus if needed out of the window and directly distributed, earth and death nether as well as ice mana to all the tombstones close to Lyn, while at the same time the solid footing below the alabaster dolphin’s princess disappeared, which forced her to once again rely in the energy rings to float.
‘I refuse to believe she can outlast me in terms of energy reserves, I’m an Arch rank and I have two damn energy cores, as well as a Domain!!!’, inwardly screamed the snake as he charged towards Lyn, the triple layered armor renewed his confidence.
“Black Death Frozen Bone Slide!”, the spell changed as well, he was tougher and stronger thanks to the new armor after all so he used a spell that focused in explosive speed for attack purposes instead of to dodge, not to mention that basically all the tombstones around Lyn released spears, hammers and chains, respectively, however he isn’t the only one with new techniques in his repertory, after all so far Lyn has only used the actual base versions of her previous techniques.
“Sky Shattering Step”, the blue energy rings around Lyn’s ankles shone and next she continuously flashed through the sky, leaving behind continuous shockwaves which destroyed or deviated the dozens of spears, hammers and chains coming her way.
“You should have learned it by now, empty numbers mean nothing against me”, said the alabaster dolphin princess as she met the snake head on, whose eyes turned red in response.
“Black Death Frozen Bone Mountain Crush!”, adding an attack spell to the movement one, a nether and mana mountain image encompassed the snake tot hen descend upon Lyn, who answered by thrusting her right fist at it this time.
“True Explosive Echo Fist”, and now we get to see what happens when Lyn throws the punch alongside her technique, which unlike what one would believe, does matter quite a bit, basically that large range shockwave was compressed all the way to the width of Lyn’s pretty right hand.
“Crack!”, first things first, a shattering sound was produced as the shockwave compressed in a straight line directly pierced through the nether and mana mountain projection, to then break through the triple layered armor covering the snake, going trough its body to then open a hole on the roof of the snake’s Domain.
“Agh…”, the pained scream of the snake was interrupted by its body undulating as the shockwave exploded behind his back.
“Boooooom!”, that was both the explosion sound produced by the shockwave as well as by the snake’s body being smacked against the ground, since the impact basically shot it downwards all the way from the sky to the ground.
“Fighting in the sky while being a Lord rank is such a hassle, let’s continue this on the ground”, casually said the alabaster dolphin princess as she gracefully landed on the ground, near where a snake shaped crater was placed, she actually took the decision to shoot down the snake because he removed her footing, otherwise the battle would still be taking place in the sky.
“Ahhhhh why, why is none of this in the experience of that bastard!!!”, screamed the snake as he returned all the way from the crater where his body was lodged a second ago, Lyn’s attack was aimed at his energy cores, but surprisingly at the last second, he had actually moved them, which Lyn honestly didn’t think was possible, as it was akin to an actual flesh and blood being moving his heart from its usual position.
Apparently, this was a spell unique to the earth affinity snake, something that he inherited from his original race, and something that has saved his life.
“Death Crisis Survival, Weakness Nullification”, said the snake, he had to call out the name the of the spell, though he had activated it earlier.
“Well, color me surprised, that was actually unexpected, it’s a shame that your time is up”, said the alabaster dolphin princess, which made the snake lash out at her.
“Nonsense, Black Death Frozen Hell World!!!”, compared to the fierce name of the spell that the snake called out, the result was disappointing, as in nothing happened despite the snake indeed gathering a huge amount of nether and mana around his body.
‘Huh, what is this, did I screw up the casting and why the hell is that crazy bitch not attacking me…’, the snake’s train of thought froze midway as a voice which he never expected to hear again, reached his ears.
“What a useless bastard, even after taking my energy core and my affinities for yourself, you couldn’t even make the enemy reveal her hand”.
“R-Rendon!”, exclaimed the snake to then realize two things, first, why did all three of his energies weren’t obeying him and second why Lyn wasn’t attacking him, the first is because Rendon was messing with him from the inside and the second was because… there was an invisible barrier surrounding his body.
The snake immediately tried to get away only for an emblem shaped like a human with a knife stabbed on its back to appear on the snake’s head, which made it fall to the ground powerless.
“W-What is this!”, exclaimed the snake only to hear Lyn answering his doubts.
“Betrayal Retribution Curse, basically it means that up to a whole two major realms you are subject to the whims of someone you have betrayed for the same amount of time that has elapsed since the moment of the betrayal”.
“But that’s not what’s important right now, after all given how much time we have been in the Blood Prison realm, it’s not strange for Rendon to have gathered the necessary requirements for the curse, as for its origin, well, that Dian bastard’s family specializes in the usage of curses”.
“What actually matters here, is how are you still alive, Rendon”, said Lyn as she saw the snake’s body retort as a dark blue sphere forcefully broke away from the snake’s body.
“Aghhh!”, alongside the pained screams of the snake, the dark blue sphere cracked to then reveal a smaller blue sphere which was inside of it, that was Rendon’s energy core, as the dark blue mana projection of Rendon’s figure which surrounded the core, suggested.
“Black Devil Mediator Altar”, Rendon’s answer however was a black bone altar emerging behind of him.
Though it looked as if it was one of the altar spells given by Marcus because it was made out of bones, Lyn directly discarded that notion, to begin with, there was nether in it and it was nether unrelated to the Lords, so it’s something Rendon awakened by himself.
Though the devil mana used alongside it was indeed Marcus’s one, the major difference is that there was a dried-up male figure with bandages covering its eyes while holding a bone scale with his hands, at the front of the altar, obviously that was the “devil mediator”.
“Accused and Fee”, said the dried-up figure, to which Rendon directly answered.
“A traitor and death nether”.
“Requested Compensation”, answered the dried figure, making Rendon ponder for a second to then say.
“Affinity Change and Improvement”, to which the dried-up figure answered from ear to ear, revealing its spiked teeth.
“Approved”, and with those words, the altar behind of Rendon expanded until it was of around a hundred meters size, the dried figure also grew and so did the bone scale, on which the snake was now placed, at the left side of the scale to be more accurate, while Rendon casually jumped onto the right pan.
